seen this fred other day..tonite been to see a lose friend of mine who was diagnosed with prostate cancer 10mth ago..had to have his removed,he's ok at the moment since and doing ok,he was telling me earlier a friend of his in Australia told him people saying they had great results with cancer treatment over there using Fenbendazole and Ivermectin tablets...his psa blood readings had risen slightly last yr or so,consultant wasnt overly concerned though..he's been taking these tablets for a few mth now..his levels were 3.6 b4 operation 0.006 after op then gradually rose to 0.18 before ivermectin now gone down to 0.3..anyone else heard or read about this treatment? just googled it and this showed up Grin

Lack of Human Evidence: Currently, there is no high-quality, clinical trial evidence in humans that confirms these drugs can cure cancer.
Risks: Relying on these, rather than conventional treatments, can be dangerous.
Expert Advice: Experts advise against self-medication with these drugs for cancer and recommend using them only under strict medical supervision.

I had a sigmoidoscopy a few years back, that was a sight surrounded by three nurses with your aris hanging out whilst the doctor pauses for a moment to allow you to f8art out all the air he's just pumped you up withLaugh, I'd take that over an endoscopy any day though, horrendous, 15 minutes of constant urging as the camera hits the gag reflex spot in your throatCry
Report Emitdeb March 19, 2026 2:59 PM GMT
Digital Rectal Exam.. Is where the doctor sticks a lubricated finger up your aris..

Colonoscopy.. is a common, 30-to-45-minute diagnostic procedure where a gastroenterologist uses a long, flexible camera-tipped tube (colonoscope) to examine the entire large intestine.

Also only once had an endoscopy - or at least would have done, if I'd been able to - gagged so bad they thought I was going to have a heart attack. So they went for x-ray instead as method!

Never had colonoscopy, but I think I'd actually prefer that, even though a tad embarrasing.

On a Colonoscopy, they medicate you the night before to clear your system, sounds ok but is very disturbing.. Starts with the shts! then you sht a lot more... when you think you're empty, you sht some more and more... then when you've convinced yourself you're definitely empty.. You sht some more... Hopefully you make it to the lav every time.. But I bet you don't!.. After the procedure is done, you'll still be randomly shtting yourself for hours!.. Apart from that, It's not too bad.
Report duffy March 19, 2026 3:21 PM GMT
If I have an endoscopy again they'll have to put me out which was an option but it meant staying in longer...but so be it after experiencing it whilst awake!!!

Had an endoscopy and went for the drugs. I saw the camera about to go into my mouth and the next thing I knew, I woke up in a bed. Apparently you're not asleep at all, but I didn't recall any of it. By the time I woke (iirc) it was only about 15 minutes later, give or take. I felt fine after that.

As for the colonoscopy, I woke (or was aware) midway through and did not like it at all. Panicked and was held down by several doctors until again, I woke up in bed recalling little more. Sadly I wasn't "clean" enough and they had to do it again. I woke again, freaked out and it was aborted.

Ended up having a barium meal instead.

Been following this thread quietly on my now very infrequent visits to the forum & Betfair. Prostate cancer is one of the most treatable cancers & is the most common in men. If a man lives long enough he will develop prostate problems- it's the nature of the anatomy. In the olden days, men died of "stricture" when an enlarged prostate blocked off urinary flow & there was no treatment. I myself  developed benign enlargement of the prostate. One day I woke up & couldn't pee. Just want to wish you good luck for Tuesday, Dragon, & many more years of posting on the forums.

hi all unfortunatley the surgery did not go to plan. they could not remove the prostrate due to an internal hernia and tissue issus which meant the surgery was too risky for my bowel and nerve damage in that region.

i now have to go down the radiotherapy route to remove the cancer.

bit of a disappointment to say the least but i least do have another avenue of traetment available to me.

i am home now and doing ok. no driving or doing much for a month so plenty of time for sport watching.

That must be very disappointing but Radiotherapy is one of the main and most effective treatments for prostate cancer.

Will you be getting a tattoo?
Report The Knight April 2, 2026 11:08 AM BST
The Dragon,

Sorry to hear this news.

But, when I had my prostate gland removed the surgeon had a lot of trouble scraping off its bed. He did it but feared I would get an infection, which I subsequently did. Infection was in the pelvis and needed intravenous drugs to clear it. Then, five monts later, I had to have my pelvis cleaned and then pinned because of the damage the infection did to the bone.

When they x-raying the pelvis, though, they found a spot on my kidney. A year later part of my kidney was removed because of that spot - which then turned out to a cancer unrelated to my prostate. So, had I not got the infection the cancerous kidney would have gone undected for much longer.

I also had radiotheraphy after the prostate was removed to clear the prostate bed. All worked out completely and I was fully discharged many years ago now.

I tell you all this not to be a drama queen but to hopefuly help show you that things do work out and that not having your prostate removed because of your hernia was probably a good thing - look what happened with my pelvis (athough it did lead to showing the issue with the kidney).

Radiotherpahy in the prostate area is one of the easiest to have, although it will burn your bum hole a bit!!!

I wish you all the best with it and do keep us posted.
Report Slicer April 2, 2026 11:34 AM BST
Don't be too disappointed. As long as the cells were localised & restricted to the prostate, it's between 1.1 &  1.02 That with radiotherapy you'll get 15 more years at least. And as we all know on here, the only time these lose is when Moneytree tips them. Chin up, smile, get to the end of treatment & be well.
Report JRAS April 2, 2026 11:54 AM BST
Sound advice and sorry to hear your surgery did not go as planned. I lost a good friend to this two years ago, but unfortunately he ignored the symptoms until it was too late and he was at stage 4 (PSA 170)
As a result pretty much everyone he knew went for a PSA checkup. I myself had a low score (1) but the "finger up the bum" process detected a swollen prostate so its tamsulosin for me for it seems like ever.
Still, get the test done. I know for some there is the fear of the test because they dread the answer, but just do it.

I WAS NOW CARRYING anaggressive tumour that had escaped at the "BIOPSI STAGE.I,VE HAD TwO EPISODES OF RADIO THERAPY at two different Welsh hospitals....they didn't get it.
I'VE BEEN on 3 monthly hormone jabs for 8 years.
The jabs have kept the psa down.."  0 " but you're waiting for the day it breaks through.
I Suffered minor burns with the radiotherapy but experience good and not so good with pain .(very bearable with a couple of couple of co codamol..not knowing when is the problem.
MY CANCER WAS SPREAD BY THE BIOPSI!!!! and i can clearly remember mr.C" This hormone injection will KILL any cancer that escapes at the time." said the nurse.

Think hard and research before having a biopsi....is there another way....if you knew you had an aggressive tumour a surgeon wouldent go sticking needles in it!
p.s i.m nearly 80 and but for this in very good  health.
Next jab tomorrow...
