I think the bigger deal is for the midfielder. If he is really good (and he may well be) then it should allow Rice to be a proper box to box player and also support Odegaard who suffered a real dip last season. But I reckon Arsenal will improve next season. They've identified areas of weakness and addressed them. I wonder if they're kicking themselves at Isak's availability as they were signing someone not as good, but Gyok looks like someone who'll do a good job even if he might not be truly top class. I think it'll be the same top 2 slugging it out though.

lighten up Dragon, we're all allowed to back our own team, we finished 2nd last season, had a bucket load of injuries, but have strengthened with an actual striker we've been crying out, for, plus brought in a couple of other players, you'd think we were Wigan the way you dismiss Arsenal this and last season.
Spare a thought for Duffy though, there's a genuine risk he could be taking away trips to Hull, Stoke and Wrexham for the 2026/27 season, here's hoping ![]() |

mes, are you kidding, I've tried to tell you lot that we're top 6 this season, it's a simple equation, better players means improvement and a bigger improvement than you'd think only a couple players would suggest, Cunha and Mbuemo plus hopefully a striker will create a postivity that will transmit to other areas...trust me

did arsenal have injuries last season?
never knew that cos it was hardly mentioned! |

By:
Gyokeres may or may not adapt to the rigours of the Premier League. Only time will tell.
|
|
By:
On paper he doesn't look a bad buy, but this is a big step-up. If he can handle it, then the Gooners may actually improve and could end up winning the League Cup.

Viktor Gyökeres - has he improved that much?
Scored 41 goals in the championship from 110 appearences with Coventry - hardly sets the world alight imo. |

Yes,THE MIGHTY GUNNERS are now certain to win the premier,no need to play the league this season. Some people thought it was over before he signed "IT IS NOW".gunners 1/25.

Viktor Gyökeres did look a bit gash against Man Utd, eary days though. With Kai Havertz picking up another long-term injury, timing was right for Eberechi Eze to come to his senses and join the best club in London. Very positive news and will help Arsenal build on last season 2nd place and CL semi-final. Time for Arteta to win another trophy.

And finish second in the league again.

Arsenal sign Eze.
Now all they need is the final piece of the jigsaw. The most vital part of all A new head coach to get them across the line as Arteta isn’t it |
|
By:
![]() I think you may be right but cannot see Arteta leaving yet. Hopefully the Barcelona job will come up. I think Arsenal have everything in place now with 3 very good youngsters bashing the doors down. I am not sure they are the best team or going to be a dominant side but they have balance and depth so are equipped to challenge. I am nit really in favour of changing managers. I am nit a fan of Arteta but do you really think bringing in a new manager will guarantee a title? What if Liverpool get Guehi and Isak? |
|
By:
No excuses now for Arteta. How much more money are they going to throw at this guy. Well over a billion quid but an enormous wage bill. It'll be deemed a failed experiment if (when) he fails yet again to win the title this season.

The gift that keeps on giving sofa!
I cannot believe how useless Arsenal have been in this transfer and we needed a leg up from Spurs to get it over the line ![]() That you again Spurs! Again I say not an Arteta fan but who is going to win the title with Arsenal? |
|
By:
I'm not sure if Arteta is actually the problem. It seems like a mentality issue at Arsenal. They've always had that soft underbelly.
|
|
By:
I think Liverpool and Man City will be very hard to beat this season, both have strengthened well. Liverpool were relentless last year finishing games so strongly, despite looking vulnerable in many games. I'm hoping Arsenal can have another excellent CL run. As a business Arsenal have been posting losses during the 2020's but not huge overall and team in much better shape than in 2020. I think Chelsea spent more in one season that Arteta has amassed in transfers

You might be right and it is up to players to develop that winning mentality.
I don’t even like Arsenal’s style of play. It is soo predictable. I mean they have good players but nothing excites and will the young guns be stifled by don’t lose the ball mentality. I hope Eze shows them the way. |
|
By:
It's now or never for Arteta. I think they're now a decent bet for the title as they've pretty much fixed the issues from last season in the market. The only question is if they're good enough. Gyokeres hasn't exactly set the world on fire and some are already questioning the midfielder's suitability. But it's still very early days. My big change I'd make would be to give the armband to Rice. It would put Odegaard's nose out of joint but he's been garbage for six months or so and should just be told to regain his form.

Lets see how many dominant 1-0s they squander in the first 10 games or so.

If arsenal don’t win the league or champions league this season Arteta will be sacked!!
They’ve got the highest values squad bar Real Madrid in world football, they’ve blown nett spend out of the water again of all their rivals. They’ve got all their targets in, they was in the words of their manager the best team in the champions league last season, they’ve finished runners up 3 times in the league, this is the best assembled team the manager has had. If they don’t deliver Arteta a trophy this season that is fit for the outlay they’ve had, then it will go down in history as the biggest master in failure in the history of the game. This is 6yrs in the making and 1.1 billion outlay to get that elusive trophy. That spend with minimal recoup has blown every other team out of the water, yet Chelsea, United, Liverpool, Man City and spurs have won more major trophies than arsenal in that time. If Arteta doesn’t deliver then he has to be regarded as the worse manager of all time!! To coin the phase of Jose Mourinho to Arsene “his a master in failure” Arteta will be that guy… because there hasn’t been one manager in the history of the game whom has been given over 5yrs and the biggest outlay in world football and not delivered a single major honour then this fraud. No pressure but he could end up making you the biggest laughing stock’s of all time. Everything is in place now…. There is no excuses or hiding places that he can have. I have a feeling under this pressure we may well see the grotesque emotional mess on the touchline a few times this season. I just hope that we get to see the crying sounding voice in the changing room being broadcasted under this new insight sky are showing…. Meme city coming up |

You don’t sound bitter and twisted at all Tony
![]() Didn’t Manchester United recently spend close to a quarter of a billion pounds ( ok £250,000,000 to financial pedants ) on their back 4? Would you be able to demonstrate Arsenal’s net spend? Where were Arsenal 6 years ago and where are they now The worst manager of all time? Care to define that and who else was in the frame? |
|
By:
Name one other manager whom has had over a billion spent and over 5yrs and not delivered a trophy.
That is all there is to say. It’s now or go down as a master In failure Simple as that. Not bitter, just Facts |
