No tactical surprises in store here, we know how the Dutch play and they know how England play: in the words of Ruud Gullit "more dangerous without the ball." Holland will be making the pitch as big as possible and England will be launching attacks from Fort Pickford, flying over midfield at about fifty feet.

if he fixes the left even with kane for an hr i think they can win, sort the left use toney and they could win by 2 or 3

I wonder if the Racing Post will be tipping against England again ? Hope so. The Dutch are pretty poor. Just have to be careful with Virgil at set pieces.

The ITV curse almost struck again last time. England will need to overcome it again.

Bench Kane for Watkins who can give vvd a tough time.
If pickford is launching it he's our best option. Fetch on Kane as a finisher. |

The Nederlanders to score 1,5+ when it goes over 4.

So England have been given a bent German referee who was once convicted in Match fixing, not sure what's more shocking, putting a German ref in charge of an England game or the fact he's been done for match fixing.
England star Bellingham was fined £34,000 for post match remarks about Zwayer after Borussia Dortmund lost to Bayern Munich in 2021 following a controversial penalty decision. Zwayer had been involved in a match fixing scandal and served a six month ban in 2005 after accepting a £250 bribe from fellow referee Robert Hoyzer. Bellingham brought up the match fixing story during a post-match interview and was subsequently punished by the German FA. Bellingham fumed at the time: “It hits him and I don't even think he's looking at the ball but you know you can look at a lot of the decisions in the game. You give a referee that has match-fixed before, the biggest game in Germany what do you expect?” Worth backing a Red card in this game for either team, Germans not fond of the Dutch either, what a bizarre choice for a ref in a game of this magnitude. |

All the refs in all the world and this one is appointed. WTF

By:
On the plus side don’t the Germans also hate the Dutchies?
|
|
By:
The Dutch are about the only country in Europe that actually likes the British, so it's not a hardship if we lose. And yes WD, the Dutch hate the Germans, history will tell you why.

Should be one helluva a party. Dutchies like to practice speaking English with the English then walking off with their beer!
|
|
By:
The Dutch are the best speakers of the English language outside of all the non native English speaking countries, which makes sense as Dutch is the closest related langauge to English bar Frisian, according to linguists Dutch in theory is should be the easiest language for English people to learn.

Mr Mesmerised- when I was a "Medallion man about town" in my much younger days, I learnt that cunning linguists preferred French to Dutch at the Dutch have so many dykes!

In the 1966 FIFA World Cup quarter finals England 1 Argentina 0. The referee German Rudolf Kreitlein sent off Argentina captain Rattan for apparently no reason on 35 minutes when the captain Rattan was up field and away from the play at that moment. So perhaps worry about the opposition not the referee. Referee Kreitlein had been picked before the Argentine contingent had arrived to discuss the referee for this quarter final. Distinguished journalist at the time Brian Glanville described the sending off as mystifying.
