Quite why defender is allowed free shot at attacker

Kane booted the defender's foot.

In looking at any incident it's important to remember the basics of physics and mechanics

No, kane and defender went for ball, both are moving forward at impact.

Kane won the ball, the defender did not.

It's therefore a foul, and as ball is in play,
on impact, the correct decision is a penalty.

Harry should've scored ... then no need for the pen or any discussion over it

Defender's boot was no where near the ball or Kane

Impact was initiated by Kane with his follow through,

Kane feigned injury

Defender's boot was no where near the ball, (correct, and vital to penalty award) ,
or Kane, (he went forward into kanes boot, kane having kicked ball is
entitled to follow through)

You're wrong but I know you don't have the ability to change your mind.

Maybe you can practice by explaining to fifa, uefa
and get laws changed to suit your view on laws.

Until then I'm right.

the var judges are paid and know the rules sop if anything was a miss they would not have awarded the penalty ,but the Betfair forum  armchair judges seem to think they know better!

I agree that var applied the laws correctly.

Maybe it's fortunate that they spotted it, but
they did, and acted.

Kane going down is irrelevant, whether it was feigned or not (but he has a history of going down easy once he feels contact). The point was if the defender was as smart as Kane he'd have done the same, might have made the difference.

I think that I've sussed it out .... The bloke in the VAR box is slightly colour blind. He saw the Dutch player in the orange shirt... he thought that it was Wolves playing.. so immediately said that It's a pen

Lurka is right if defender goes down maybe they realise it was him that was actually kicked not Kane.

Let's move on. Kane is 1.76 to have a shot on target. This must reflect on him taking penalties for England. 'sly' is going 'evens' including extra time. But, only £2.50p max.; just not worth the hassle.
