Rachel Riley, the co-presenter of Countdown, has said she will stop supporting Manchester United if the club allows Mason Greenwood to return.

Manchester United said on Wednesday no decision had been made about the 21-year-old’s future, which it said is still the “subject of intensive internal deliberation”.

Riley was responding to comments from another female United fan, named Em, saying she would “walk away from my club” if Greenwood returned.

She told her 684,000 Twitter followers: “I’m with Em, I won’t be able to support United if Greenwood remains at the club. We’ve all seen and heard enough. Pretending this is OK would be a huge part of the problem.

“It would be devastating for my club to contribute to a culture that brushes this under the carpet … I really hope they do the right thing.”

In a statement on Wednesday, Manchester United said the “fact-finding phase” of its investigation was complete, adding that a decision about Greenwood’s future, which “ultimately rests” with the chief executive officer, Richard Arnold, was in the final stages.

The way british football is now, Rachel Riley's tweets could well be enough for United to decide to kick him out Crazy

Not one of the well known Man Utd fans.

Should have done a Val McDermid and hob nobbed more with the local politicos.

United will take the easy way out and cancel Greenwoods contract ,they'll reckon it's not worth all the negative flak they will get .They will lose a very good striker ,which is what they lack ,who has never been found guilty of anything ,but that's what will happen .

There's no unknown factor with this one

Known or unknown factor?

I don't much care what happens to Greenwood. However, to potentially ruin somebody's life when they have been found guilty of nothing is wrong. To hang draw and quarter somebody based on rumour (and that is all it is without a conviction) is the start of a slippery slope which could lead us into very difficult waters.

Also, if Greenwood was a plumber, then there would be no question of ruining his future working life, so why is this OK when he is a footballer?

Didn’t think this evil, attention -seeking xxxxx could sink any lower.I don’t give a xxxx about Mason Greenwood or Man Utd,but as things stand he is an innocent man. What a cynical attempt to influence the club’s decision regarding his future.
Riley should stick to getting her sums right.

It's a sad indictment of our society that a person from a game show makes the headlines in this manner. Who honestly gives a monkey's what R.R. says?

Innocent until proven guilty according to our laws.

Absolutely agree,Slippy. But the sad reality is that some gullible people DO “give a monkey’s” what this nonentity thinks and are influenced.

It was a response to a tweet; just her opinion which the press have picked up on. Perhaps she knew this could/would happen, perhaps it's an innocent response. I totally agree that it could affect a man's career, but is it her fault or the press?

Some already have her as guilty, like she has Greenwood as guilty... think about it.

Maybe this audio transcript should be posted in all these social media trials?
I don't know if this was the very first time Harriet had this type of encounter
with Mason Greenwood and just happened to press the 'record' button.

------------------------

Mason: Move your f***ing legs up!

Harriet: No! I don't want to have $ex!

M: I don't give a f**k what you want, you little sh1t.

H: Mason!

M: Shut up. Stop talking to me. Stop!

H: Stop putting your d1ck near me.

M: I'm going to f**k you, you tw@t!

H: I don't want to have $ex with you!

M: I don't care if you don't want f***ing $ex with me, do you hear me?

H: Why do you have to do this, though?

M: Cause I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it!

H: (Inaudible. Something about $ex with other people?)

M: I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it so what else do you want me to do?

H: Then go and f**k someone else.

M: I don't want to f**k someone else!

H: You do.

M: No I don't.

M: Push me again one more time and watch what happens to you.

H: No.

M: Well, you will actually

Riley has built up a strong political following on twitter and also campaigns
against anti semitism. Sometimes

Has RR considered all the evidence?

If not why is she seeking to influence all her followers?

I don't think balanced argument is her thing.

She's building her brand, and this suits.

The charges were dropped, according to the Sun they are back together, plan to marry and had a baby last month.

The CPS announced the dropping of the charges after "the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light". Her father the very same day after speaking to her said that her phone had been 'hacked', which indicates that somebody else may have posted the accustory captions on the pics.

She has clearly withdrawn any allegation, and there is clearly other material none of us have seen.

The most important thing is they are both helped, there's clearly been a falling out and a rush to gain support.
Theyve hopefully both learnt and can get
on with their lives. Lesson for all
about posting stuff on social media and
control of your own social media.

It's going to be so hard for him to
get back accepted, and I hope club supports him.

I suspect there are far worse things
hidden by most clubs,..

She answered a tweet from 'Em' and said she would no longer be a supporter. Fair play to her, that's her right. She didn't go to the press, she sent a tweet that the press picked up on. As I wrote earlier, she may have meant it or it was off-the-cuff. I don't make her guilty because I don't know.

That is exactly what will happen tobermory and it is despicable.  Never in a million years will Manchester United stand up and be counted on this issue.  It is absolutely despicable what this woman Riley has set in motion/orchestrated here.

I can clearly see I'm in the minority here, which is fair enough. I don't agree with what she said, but I do believe in her right to say what she wants and if it becomes a legal case, then that's her problem and she'll have to live with it, just as anyone would if they push the boundaries online. If people are stupid enough to follow her then that's their problem.

Btw, taking a leaf out of this loudmouthed woman's book, we should all to a man write, email, communicate with Channel 4 and tell them categorically that until this woman is removed from the gameshow Countdown that we will stop watching it.  Somehow or other we all have to start making a stand against all this "I'm a celebrity and I'll dictate political agendas" stuff.
She calls it "my" club too, as if she owns it.  What an ego.
Meanwhile, all of the female participants in this sorry saga go about their daily lives anonymously and free from any legal action whatsoever, having had their accusations and witness statements rubbished by the legal system which polices this country,   The same legal system that this woman Riley clearly feels she is above.
