My Derby mate reckons chat amongst their fans is that Rooney still doesn't have his UEFA Pro coaching badges? Anybody know if that's right? Is that a barrier to him managing in the EPL, even if some of his coaches beneath him do have them?

Problem is what is a realistic ambition.
Top four City Chelsea Liverpool Seem to have it sewn up for the next few years. You are then competing possibly with United Tottenham Arsenal Villa Newcastle in 3/4 years? |
By:
Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges.
By:
And I forgot West Ham
By:
Actually the more you look at the premier league table, you are talking about 7/8 clubs moving away from the rest in terms of resources.
The concept of a super league in some form looks inevitable |

prob go for Dunc till end of season and then some obscure foreign bloke
By:
Fat Frankie has shortened
would be an odd appointment one decent season at Derby sacked after a year and a half at Chelsea only got the Chelsea job because he was a player there |
By:
wouldn't have thought EFC fans would welcome Lampard
By:
is duncan disorderly expected to be in charge for long?
six-pointer coming up v Newcastle |

special one mentioned this morn

It has been reported that Rooney, the former Everton forward currently managing Derby, and ex-Chelsea boss Lampard are set to be interviewed for the post.

By:
wouldnt imagine toffee fans liking frank
By:
As I said earlier top 4 is not realistic in next couple of years, but Frank plays entertaining football.

poisoned chalice - no money to spend on a squad that needs money spent on it and not sure what is coming through the youth ranks that we havent already seen
would have to sell but got no players of any value apart form DCL and wont get their money back on Richarlison given the state of the market They are club in a downward spiral |

Thomas Frank or Potter would be perfect, seeing as they are used to working with a tight budget. That's what the next manager is going to have to do. So the likes of Mourinho or a big name would only be looking for another payoff from day one. Rooney or Lampard do not have the experience, they are like celebrity managers and the polar opposite to the likes of Frank and Potter who came from the bottom all the way up and have proper experience and skill at the job. Rooney might turn out good but he's not ready yet.
Given the track record of recruitment on and off the pitch since Moshiri took over, you'd have to expect them to fúck it up again. |
By:
Rooney or Lampard, is that really the best they can do
agree Potter or Frank would be much better options |
By:
Lampard one decent season in the champonship
Rooney half a decent season in the championship ![]() |
By:
why do Everton have no money to spend? i thought the owner was rich
By:
if Potter fancied it, that would be a result for EFC...Rooney or Lampard could easily end in tears for all concerned
By:
Think it's to do with what they've already spent Giuseppe. FFP and all that.
By:
ok thanks

why do Everton have no money to spend? i thought the owner was rich they are building a new stadium £0.5bn and rising all done through loans backed by the club through Moshiri |
By:
isn't stadium spending exempt from FFP?
By:
anyone following this? doesn't seem to be much happening

could probbaly get 200-1 on him mate

Bill Kenwright has a tough decision ahead. Lampard is the better singer but Rooney is the better dancer.
By:
would make an deal double act surely?

ideal

can duncan play the keyboard

By:
Ferguson I don't think he'll last 10 games
Cannavaro the latest to be linked, seems a long shot Rooney plausible but risky, would he leave derby mid season? Lampard makes no sense to me, would be the "can't think of anyone else" appointment Martinez Belgian FA unwilling to let him combine jobs apparently and he won't walk out. one of the favourites for the world cup for **** sake I reckon it will be none of this lot |
By:
four points off the relegation zone now and Newcastle away next
By:
they clearly have nobody lined up, or misjudged the Rooney situation
By:
might have overestimated Ferguson too
By:
6.20 to go down
By:
Ferguson is all blood and thunder. Even when it works it doesn't keep working. For anyone.
By:
what a cluster**** this cold turn out to be
why did they sack Rafa if they have no one in mind? |
By:
sounds like rooney does want it
what a prick what type of owner would put him in charge for a relegation battle? surely this is a job for sam? |
