Funny but I think we missed Kyle Walker as regards creating some danger.

Walker has something that many english players don't have, rapid pace and directness

Rice at westham is fantastic gets stuck in
Runs all game For England looks cart horse That pass it backwards never goes forward or drive up the pitch with the ball like he’s does at westham Southwank needs rethink in that midfield we don’t need two holding midfielders |

As alluded to by a poster earlier in the thread, the rise of "multi culturalism" means playing for England doesn't carry the significance it once did. We live in a country where national monuments/ statues are ripped down meaning everything is frowned upon in English history other than apparently not being English which is celebrated by all manner of flags waved around and union jacks/ St georges flags ripped down for racism. There is also the disgusting rise in wages for mediocre players who would never have got near international football in times gone by.. why would Jamaican born Sterling on half a million quid a week bother whether England qualify? Like the rest of the England setup, they will probably be on x boxes or logging into Instagram accounts later.
As for Kane being lame, one quick look at the lads face confirms there is horse DNA in him. He looks a dead ringer for Desert Orchid who turned lame later in his career, so similar patterns could be emerging |

Exactly Wolf
Loyalhoncho said he loves my passion for England, I could care less when we eventually get knocked out Euro 96 team I could get behind, 98 also, 2002 was borderline But since 2006 esp I can't get behind them They can dye Fodens hair and give him the "gazza" tag but he's no Gazza, not in personality or body shape or skill nothing resembles Gazza with him Gazza was relatable and lovable |

By:
No one wants to be bored these days
Football is in the entertainment industry England are boring |
|
By:
You can give them sexy bodies but it means jack, they lack skill, pace, nous, football intelligence
Gazza had it in abundance and yet looked like he'd just come out the kebab house on his way to the ground Amazing eh, he was a natural talent that would have never got in the team today, to much of a "loose cannon" they'd say |

England died in 2000 when they started picking the best players instead of the best team
|

By:
Gerrard, Lampard & Scholes fitted into the team!!

|
By:
The youth want someone to get behind
Maybe stop wrapping the players up in media training cocoons, let them express themselves, let them be themselves And the youth might get behind them ![]() |
|
By:
We loved Gazza because he was himself not some robot talking to a camera that's been edited to boot ffs
|
|

Gazza was getting smashed up
Rushed getting the poor free school meals |

England are rotten, Scotland (average team) were better and should have won, deal with it.
|
|
By:
Two average teams on show tonight
Scotland acting like they won Could played all night never scored |
|
By:
I have no problem with Rashford and what he does.
But to many in this England team, have been brought along by the FA Development schemes from an young age!! There is no player in this England team that has an edge. Its all very much cooperate regulated feed from them all The rebel is most probably Kyle Walker because he might do some laughing gas or something and is most probably England best player mount, foden, Rice, Philips, James are all very nice middle class boys. England need some scummy nasty outspoken **** with in the group |
|
By:
could England have played all night without scoring ?
agreed 2 very average teams, I think Scotland created better chances, plenty who knew england were rotten made money, hope you were one fattie. |

By:
Philips
What? He's from a council estate, very poor background, with his dad in and out of jail... |

Depends what the wife did, some women deserve a clip sometimes malay esp in this day and age
And that's why I loved him, he was an emotional character |

They are robots. It wouldn't surprise me if the whole England setup spent more time training them on their media duties than on actual strategies for a game. I'd have Jose managing England, without a doubt. I think he'd do it as well. Spurs was a bad move for him, watch Roma finish top 3 next season.

By:
not that I think Jose would do a bad job but if people think we marginalise creativity and positivity currently....

No opinion on Gasgoine's wife or daughter nature, but we all seen photos of the domestic violence, he should have been jailed for it, as his high profile may have educated people. Fantastic talent on his day for England in 1990, but after that no better than **** that played tonight. |

I meant in how they all come across... there isnt one nasty **** amongst them
Running around like a headless chicken flying into tackles will just get you sent off these days, if you mean there's no inspiring carahcters or leaders then yes you are right, there isn't. They were absolutely gutless tonight and lacking in passion and leadership. That comes from within the player, and also because the "manager" is a sterile, clueless, FA yes man. These players have been managed by Guardiola, Klopp, Mourinho, Tuchel, Bielsa, and other managers who are not at that level, but who are actually proper managers. What do you think these players are thinking listening to this PR man/bluffer/clown? |

Surely that figure is incorrect? |
|
By:
* I would doubt if Messi, Ronaldo or Neymar received that amount although with endorsements that Sterling wouldn't receive. Glad to be corrected.
|
|
By:
You may be right, but even at the lower end of the scale 200 k = over 10 million a year which doesn't include all the other image rights/ endorsements etc. A quick search online reveals in his career so far he has earnt over 57 million quid which is symptomatic of why many of these internationals don't care about anything other than their next club contract and instagram followers where much of their revenue is generated

Who is going to leave a top club job manage England? That said, you have to find somebody with a proven track record, a philosophy, and someone who the players can buy into. It seems to have worked well with Mancini. International football isnlt the same as club football, basically if you're a decent footballing power, you're gonna qualify, you're also more than likely to progress to knock out phases, so then you're looking at knock out games - who can win those? You need to have good enough players, and you need to build a team that can win one-off games, it's not like club football where over 30 odd games generally the best teams win. You need a lot more luck in running, but i'd say it's best not to start by appointing a PR friendly clown with zero track record. But this is the FA, and they sacked Bobby Robson and wouldn't employ Coughie because of politics. The thing is, when compared to club football, Int football is a a lot more of a lottery, and teams can sometimes just coalesce during a tournament and win it, but i'd say it's best to give yourself the best chance of doing so, by employing a manager with a clue. |

as a proud Scotsman how would you feel about managing England Stewart
is it something you would consider if the terms and conditions were right? |

If you hadn't watched the match and just picked up on the news report, you would think that Scotland 'won' the game when it reality at the moment, England are in much the stronger position with their 4 points already in the bag. Scotland have to face Croatia and look like they will have another job shutting out an attacking force whereas they now have to go for the win. As do Croatia, so could mean for a good game.
