Not me mate. First match for me was against AZ67 when we beat them 3-2 at Anfield in the old European cup. Having drawn 2-2 out in Holland in the first leg. If I recall correctly Sammy Lee scored a goal that nite - though that may be my memory fading after all these years. He rarely scored.

FWIW, for the youngsters out there, AZ67 were a good team. A year or so later, they took a great Ipswich team, all the way in the UEFA cup final. When that competition was really worth winning.

doubt anyone beat that sparrow, do you remember any of it,
ps 1st tv i remember was 65 cup final  leeds v lpool, very vague, but i dont remember 66 world cup, and my best memory is 68 final everton v wba.

but this is weird, i remember sitting in our small living room on a wed after coronation st and those days theyd come on at around 8.00 saying tonight at 10.30 after the news highlights of whoever.
but on this night i honestly rememner them saying man utd v anderlecht tonight match  and utd won 10-0, whats weird is, this was 1956 , and i wasnt bornConfusedLaughShocked

I don't remember too much of the earliest games but recall the 57/58 season only too well as the team finished champions of Division 2 and of course promotion.
As for 1953 I do very much remember the Cup final won by Blackpool 4-3 against Bolton and known as the Matthews final. So many memories of that era especially England being thrashed by Hungary in 1953 and the media all saying we would win the return match in 1954 which Hungary won 7-1 but they were easily the best side in World football and possibly the best team never to win that cup.

As you can see above smirnoff a lifelong hammers fan for my sins. It's strange how we all latched on to a Scottish team back then and yes mine was Clyde for some unknown reason.
Tonight was bad but I half expected it due to all the turmoil surrounding recent events.

That's mad.. My first game was mud '70s. 74 I think. Wolves v Spurs 1-1. Chivvers scored for them and I think it was Steve Kindon (the tank) scores for us

sparrow it looks like you hav one of the last dinosaurs -closely followed by Mourinho for Spurs- likes of Allardyce and Pardew are long gone cos game overtakes em and they all get a gig on gillette soccer special - just wait for massive announcement when Mourinho joins panel 18mths down the line after the inevitable happens - Allardyce was commentating on Leeds game for Talksport tonite

re soccer special - i giv you Pulis and Sherwood ffs lolLaughLaughLaugh

Mersons just there for pay cheque imoCoolCoolCool

I don't accept this dinosaur argument as those managers play to theit teams strengths rather than Howe, Holloway and all the others who tried to compete on equal terms.
Allardyce rescued the team from the second tier and left us in mid table safety as Moyes also did rather than such as Pellegrini who everyone thought would be taking us to "the next level playing the "West Ham Way" and all that nonsense.
Everyone thought Howe was going to be a great success but he was just too naive to succeed in the present day game.
Give Guardiola and Klopp these same budgets and see what they will achieve.

Agreed sparrow , much of the tags put on managers is down to budgets. Guardiola and Klopp would soon become "dinosaurs playing long ball" if they didnt have players worth 80 million in their teams- tactics are overrated , its about the players
By:

PSG couldnt even beat Lens the other day once a handful of players were taken out of the team and Bayern Munich arguably the best team in the world have a manager who hadnt managed anyone for 16 years before taking over at Bayern. The likes of Darren obsess over managerial tactics but its nonsense in relevance terms compared  to the players

My first was Tranmere v Huddersfield, FA Cup 3rd round 1968.  Too young to remember much but Tranmere won 2-1 and a young Frank Worthington scored for Huddersfield.  That was in the days when the FA Cup was probably more important than the league and there was a crowd of just over 20,000.

First game was Bournemouth v Bristol Rovers 1967 or 68. We were on holiday and I begged my dad to take me and my brother to a match. Got the bug, first game at WHL was Spurs v Leeds 1970. Was desperate to see my hero Jimmy Greaves, but Bill Nick dropped him that day! Saw Greavsie a couple of years later playing for West Ham at Tottenham.

Lincoln City v Chester, October '66. Lost 3-2 and I remember some kids near me singing about the merits of Joe Bonson and Harry Godbold. I wasn't convinced and the season ended with another re-election application.
