linesman supposed to keep flag down .....
By:
wondered why ref was chasing after shelvey

Once he puts his flag up and the incident is that far from goal they should just go with the flag. Keep your flag down unless it's clear as day.
Say a player is offside but the lino doesn't flag - if he scores then he was offside (after review) but if the keeper saves it and gives away a corner then it wasn't offside? He's either offside or he wasn't regardless of the outcome. They are changing the rules without any authorisation with this nonsense. |
By:
Offside if x happens afterwards but not offside if y happens afterwards. Nowhere in the rules is offside dependent on what happens afterwards. Players can become active afterwards under the rules but that is completely different and written into the rules.
By:
^but its not remit of VAR for corners so yes it can be changed for x (a goal) but not y (a corner), there is no difference to how it worked before (as linesman can put his flag up at the end of the phase of play for his opinion of offside)
he obviously flagged too soon here and was at fault, luckily ref didnt whistle as he no doubt thought it was too close as the correct decision was made |
By:
luizs disallowed goal other night, not sure whether lino flagged but say that he didnt, luiz is better off having shot tipped over for a corner rater than scoring and thus fk to brighton( despite fact he was offside ) .

By:
voldemorts

By:
xg redundant for that donald. anomaly.
By:
chers morp. just wondered how they could account for it.
By:
would think mind, just guessing. not everything set in stone.

whilst its already next to impossible winning a few quid its now even more frustrating and impossible.. I CAN CONFIRM THAT VAR IS A FU*****g nightmare
By:
Looks like they're not even bothering to pretend it's legitimate now. Draw some coloured lines on, call it offside even if your lines suggest otherwise
By:
norwich goal chalked off there for "offside"
its laughable |
By:
Absolute horse sh1t.
He's two yards on there. Fcuking cheating imo. |
By:
I was for it initially but it's destroyed the game.
I I can't help thinking there's more to it than meets the eye. |
By:
VAR has ruined the beautiful game It must be a nightmare if your at the game even Delia was giving out hugs before VAR got involved The rule that the benefit was given to the forward has gone forever
By:
That Pukki disallowed goal epitomises all that's wrong with VAR.
The guys in the VAR room have said Pukki came back from an offside position. Is that written in the offside law? Or do they just make lawa up on a daily basis? |
By:
"offside in the build up"
well, yeah but he's tracked back to get back onside ie he aint offside multi billion pound industry being influenced by utterly clueless cretins |
By:
can't see how that was offside, tbh.
![]() |
By:
Nope, we're now back to his flap of elbow skin being offside.
What a joke of a "sport". |
By:
What was clear and obvious there was that it was a clear goal.
Most decisions can be given one way or another by moving the picture a frame or two back or forth. Sky's pics clearly show him on by looking at the grass lines. |
By:
are the EPL Seriously expecting us to believe that if for the sake of argument the spurs player was the attacker on that picture pukki would have played him onside,

VAR is a killer for any 1 who wants goals it looks like they look for ANY excuse to cancel a goal
By:
And the different explanations coming from Stockley park make it even more dubious.
It's clear influencing games to suit now. |
By:
they've chalked off plenty today, so as a result there are fewer goals (the currency of the sport) and everyone is guarded in their celebrations when a goal is scored, great initiative this, just do it by eye for offside and if its not obvious then stick with the linesmans decision
By:
Var has to be done away with it is completely spoiling the game from both the betting and viewing angle .
By:
They used VAR to gift Man City a goal last night, but it didn't work out the way they wanted. They are trying it on again here. Hope Norwich win regardless.
By:
thats by eye on the freeze frame

agree rider

1 other point why do the refs look so happy when the goal is disallowed the ref in the Norwich looked over the moon are they on a bonus for every goal disallowed
