Whether fans admit it or not, they resent the teams winning because at the end of the day, every one of us wishes it was our team winning titles. |

 I don't hate Man Utd but I think ever since the Munich crash,which I can vaguely remember,they have been the longest running soap opera in Britain,beating the also Manchester ( or are they both really Salford ?) Coronation St by about 4 years. They have had two very successful managers,two of the 4 or 5 best post-war club managers,but went through a rather fallow period between the two of them and appear to be in the midst of another one now,though to the followers of most clubs even what they have managed this season is the stuff of dreams. I agree this business of not supporting your local team is both puzzling and annoying to an old fart like me and I suspect Man U were the first to attract large numbers from outside their catchment area. But whilst Liverpool and City fans may hate them others of us have different regional rivalries. Since the 70s my own pet hate has been Leeds Utd. |

The plastic clubs are the only ones I dislike, not that I dislike the clubs or fans per se but just what they've done to become successful compared to clubs who built their success over decades of ups and downs.

A few years they came down to London to play Fulham and Chelsea. I was near the away end on both occasions. Most of their accents were cockney, they wrecked the toilets and had a general air of "scumbag entitlement"(love that phrase it's from the film the departed and is so apt in describing them)about them.
Goldie(the great drum n base producer)was also among them. The bloke is from the Midlands for Pete's sake. |

Man Utd gained many fans after Munich although most drifted away. In those days it was very rare to support a club hundreds of miles away with which you had no ties.

For me it starts with the London cockney fans yelling at TV screens with UTD tops on. Sorry I will never understand that.
Londoners are spoilt for choice with local teams, i never got it either. When i grew up you were either Utd or Wednesday, full stop. Supporting a team from a provincial northern town when brought up in London completely baffles me. |

SlippyBlue has nailed it. In Coventry, all the kids wear Man Utd shirts. It's impossible to get them interested in supporting their home team.
So many other lower teams must have the same problem. |

We won the fiar play league every year along with trophies. utd are hated cos of pandorica and his type. arrogant, imperialist c@nts like him "we are united and we deserve to be #1" and cecil john rhodes who thought the more of the world that was owned/run by the english, the better. fergie had the same attitude. a genuine c@nt. he was a great manager but compared to paisley he was an arroogant c@nt. |

He makes feeble links and uncomfortable connections in the course of his daily work to give him some reason - any reason - to drone on in his annoying voice, with a smug smile on his face about 'Man U' (or occasionally, when he's really on one, 'Nitd') He's friends with S'ralex, which is enough to exclude him from polite society everywhere. Your typical Man U fans hate him, but feel they can't admit it for fear of being disloyal to such a rabid, glory hunting obsessive. So they give themselves hernias trying to find something nice to say about the loathsome Holmes, ending up with something feeble along the lines of "Well, he's certainly Man U frew and frew, innit - and he's S'ralex's mate you know, squire. Cor, blimey, stone the bladdy crows an' lavvadack." |

To be fair, don't think Man U are more hated than most of the elite clubs currently.
There is the 'biggest club' that is always around as an issue though - that's the simple answer. They get biggest crowds/ground, marketing, etc, so other fans see it as an unfairness. Whether it is unfair is a different question. End of the day they're failing despite it, so seems a moot issue currently. |

Mick Hucknall is from Manchester and i make it 1.01 that Rachel Riley has been to more matches than most of the posters on here. She goes almost every week and is often seen in the away end at United matches. Meanwhile, some of you can't see the irony of slagging off fans who travel hundreds of miles to watch United every week whilst you sit at home on your computers pedalling the same rubbish having never even attended a match. Each to their own eh? |

Tonight I was sitting next to a group of Gooners and a guy we all love came up to them giving it the big one saying 3-0. Of course in his man u top he's happy 0-0.
Boom when the 1st city goes in the bar cheers and Barry the Utd fan doesn't like it ... Typical utd fans who love to give out but cannot take it back.. Awful fans at times. He starts saying Hammers cr@p. So not only does he upset Gooners he starts on irons. Silly utd fan. |
