Timberrrrrrrr...Is there any other side in the Premier League that capitulates like us? And, yet again, they’ve managed to give an opposing team who have been low in confidence recently the perfect pick-me-up!!

We had Arsenal on the ropes one minute and the next we were on the canvas down and counted out. Nothing will change until we get rid of this manager.

Sleep walking to relegation cos the owners are too cheap to do the right thing and sack this manager.  I wish they would sack themselves as well

Ground half empty again with 20 minutes to go. The board once said that the move to the new stadium was the best chance to take that next step.  Playing Charlton, Millwall, Ipswich and Brentford next season will prove that they were right!

Sleep walking to relegation
Pace picking up fast !
Anderson what is point of this player just doesn’t want play or run !
Toenails runs about headless chicken zero end product
Snog try’s his best but just ain’t the standard
Rice and noble good as they are just not mobile enough for modern day footballer

Can't keep blaming the ground Aladdin, other teams seem to manage on it ok. For me Upton Park was never the same after they demolished the Chicken Run but it's all in the past now.

Not blaming the ground entirely Sparrow (although I do feel that opposing sides actually ENJOY playing there and don’t find it intimidating in any way).
Some appalling business in the transfer market and the decision to replace Moyes with the current manager are my main gripes..

Agree regarding the £180 million wasted and definitely not to have made the offer to Moyes as I think you know Aladdin. Where we go from here I have no idea but Pellegrini needs to go to at least start the process.

From the Guardian newspaper.

Manuel Pellegrini will take charge of West Ham’s Premier League game at Southampton on Saturday but defeat could prompt his dismissal as manager.

Pellegrini told West Ham’s board in the wake of the defeat against Arsenal on Monday that he is convinced he can turn around the team’s fortunes and his employers have kept faith with him for now.

But their belief in his ability to haul the club away from relegation danger is waning and losing on Saturday against one of the four teams below them could be the point of no return.

David Moyes, Chris Hughton and Eddie Howe are among candidates who will be considered if Pellegrini is sacked. West Ham are known to admire Rafael Benítez but a move for the former Liverpool manager is unlikely to succeed given the cost involved in taking him from Dalian Yifang and Benítez’s insistence this week that “there is no chance I will come back now”.

West Ham have won only one of their past 11 matches. They have lost seven league games and gone out of the Carabao Cup at Oxford during that sequence, which started in late September.

A defeat at St Mary’s could push West Ham into the bottom three, depending on how Aston Villa and Bournemouth fare earlier in the day at Sheffield United and Chelsea respectively.

West Ham’s shock win against Chelsea last month was masterminded by Enzo Maresca, with the club’s second assistant coach taking over training from Manuel Pellegrini in the lead-up to the game.

Pellegrini normally devises West Ham’s tactics and the manager is likely to be sacked if his team are beaten for the eighth time in 10 matches when they visit Southampton on Saturday. West Ham are a point above the bottom three following the defeat against Arsenal and patience is wearing thin at board level.

Pellegrini bought himself some time when West Ham, who will fall below Southampton if they lose at St Mary’s, beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. But it is understood that the tactics were devised by Maresca, who could be asked to step in on an interim basis if West Ham lose against Southampton.

West Ham knew that Chelsea wanted to play through the middle, so they pushed them wide and gave few chances away. However Pellegrini then resumed control, restoring his style for the limp defeats against Wolves and Arsenal.

There is alarm at West Ham, who have been dragged into a relegation battle following a dramatic loss of form. It is understood some senior players are losing faith in Pellegrini, who has 18 months left on a contract worth £7m a year. West Ham’s board have a history of backing their managers but their hand could be forced if there is no sign of an improvement against Southampton.

Maresca, who joined Pellegrini’s coaching staff in the summer of 2018, is building a good reputation within the club. The former Juventus and Sevilla midfielder is respected by the players, who have made clear to senior club figures that they have enjoyed his training sessions. Maresca played for Pellegrini at Málaga.

West Ham’s shortlist includes David Moyes, Chris Hughton and Eddie Howe, who could be reluctant to leave Bournemouth before the end of the season. There is also admiration for Simone Inzaghi, though it is unlikely he could be tempted away from Lazio, who are third in Serie A.

Agree Sparrow.  Not sure if I actually want to watch it as we’ve been shocking for so long now - Think I’d be better off watching a good film but I’ll probably wind up torturing myself (Well, at least up until we go behind!)

A far better performance tonight mainly due to Antonio up front. Southampton look a poor side save for a couple of players.

Is fornals ever going to justify his price tag?  I doubt it.  Does he have the silky skills of players like payet Anderson or lanzini?  I don't think so.  He's slow, shys away from the physical stuff and looks clumsy and arkward at times.  But he's an honest and intelligent player with loads of energy.
Watching lanzini and Anderson of late I get the feeling they don't want to jeopardize any potential sale by getting injured. In a relegation battle I would rather have fornals than those 2

The Guardian Sunday.

Manuel Pellegrini is expected to still be in charge of West Ham when they face Crystal Palace on Boxing Day after victory over Southampton ended a rotten run of results and bought the under-pressure manager some time.

Sébastien Haller scored the only goal of the game as Pellegrini’s side picked up their second win since September and the forward Michail Antonio said the team’s performance proved the manager “has not lost the dressing room”.

The club’s hierarchy have been considering Pellegrini’s position for several weeks and were minded to sack the Chilean in the event of defeat on Saturday, but a dominant display has eased the pressure on the manager, whose side moved four points above the relegation zone. West Ham have sounded out potential successors to Pellegrini in recent weeks, including David Moyes and Chris Hughton, but a second win in 12 matches has earned the manager some respite.

“We showed that we are behind the manager – we’ve got the grit and the fight to do it for him,” Antonio said of Pellegrini. “We showed that he hasn’t lost the dressing room. A good manager doesn’t put pressure on his players.

“A good manager allows you to play with freedom and confidence. That is something he said to us: ‘Just go out there and play as well as you know you can.’ And I felt we did that and we did it for him.

“It was [a] massive [win], because we have got a load of respect for him and last season we played well under him and we started this season well, when on a bit of a blip. To be fair I have been here five years now and we always have these blips, but the boys come out of it and hopefully this is the turn where we can start moving forward and getting ourselves up the league.

“You could see the positives coming from the performances of the last four games and hopefully we can turn these performances into points.”

Sparrow let's see if the man has learnt his lesson and continues to play 2 up top.  Tbh if Antonio isn't playing doesn't matter what system we play we are rubbish.

I was all for sacking the man but some of the names mentioned as his replacement fill me with dread.  I don't trust the owners.  Most of them seem backward steps.  COYI

Rest in Peace Martin and thank you so much for the memories...

We’ve got Leicester next while Villa play Watford.  A reasonable chance that we’ll be in the bottom 3 in a couple of days time.  If that happens will THAT be the time when the board finally realise that we could be in a bit of trouble and act?

I was thinking of the transfer window Aladdin although with these mugs having already spent 180 million there won't be much left to spend. Fornals, Haller, Yarmalenko, Wilshere, Anderson all doing next to nothing and today we saw Kouyate score the equaliser!

Following West Ham since mid 60’s and nothing ever seems to change.

Fine lines Fattie I agree - But one could also argue that if Ayew had put his chance away in the first half we’d have gone 1-0 down and, looking at our record when going behind, that could also have been game over..
