England were greatly flattered, if they were grouped with a couple of technically superior teams they'd have been out back then, nothing much is going to change until the Euro's and they'll go in to that with unrealistic aspirations based on solely team spirit.

Of course self praise is no praise, but it is ridiculous to suggest he was overrated by whom exactly ? , if you asked anybody at Old Trafford they would tell you he was one of the Top 5 players ever to play for Manchester United

I would say Duncan Edwards, Bobby Charlton , Peter Schmeicel and Ronaldo were on same level as Keane

I detest a football studio panel without former local and foreign distinguished players/managers as the views will be so one-sided eg Lineker, Wright and Dixon without Keane, O'Neill, Bilic, etc. The result,...blowing one's own trumpet, and afraid to suggest alternative view points. This was the case during the England/Croatia match and analysis post the game.

There seemed to be no room for Allardyce, Redknapp, Mourinho, Dalglish, etc.

seems this thread has the same sense of humour as keane, reading between the lines wrighty, nevo, and dicko before the game, day before etc seems the 3 of them were winding keaNE UP SAYING WE,RE ALREADY IN THE FINAL WE.RE bringing it home etc,etc and keane took it as they really believed it, wrighty tried to tell him they no they,d been lucky and we were winding you up
as for keane been the best player in the studio maybe but he was the worst manager some feat as he was sat next to gary Neville, LaughLaugh

"Wrighty" one of the most awful pundits out there.

Neville and Keane are pretty good - Dixon so-so. Wright never answered a direct question.

At half-time - Wright said Croatia weren't that good, and they were "there for the taking", and we should "wrap this up".

At full-time - Wright said Croatia were "the best team we'd played".

Awful....

I agree, Wright is slow to grasp the impending scenario blatantly obvious to others until post the game. After-timing his forte perhaps.
