There was hysterical delusion all round from players, manager, media and supporters. They seemed to ignore the actual reality of opposition and performances.

We beat two pub teams, lost to Belgium reserves, beat a poor Colombia in a penalty shoot out, beat an even poorer Sweden who had the cutting edge of a sponge and then lost (as usual) to the first half decent team we played.

Talk about overrated.
Keane epitomised what is was to be overrated. He was in his own words "just an up and down player". He wasn't a hard man either, that was purely a myth and purely an image - he was just an angry man. He absolutely shat himself when up against Shearer and Vieira, all that bollox in the tunnel about "I'll see you outside there", he did f*** all on the pitch again him Paddy 6ft4 and laughed at the little twerp. When did he ever take on anyone bigger and harder than him, he didn't, he took on wimps like Haaland and Southgate, easy prey. A well balanced individual though, a chip on each shoulder. |

Fantastic player. Different class to the wannabes he has to share a studio with. Best midfielder of his generation no doubt. Not a fan of the person but his football ability spoke for itself.
