intersting take on the last 2 games |

Might explain why we saw Jesus drop into Zinchenko's midfield position before HT against West Ham. Tierney tried to rotate into midfield but his passing isn't good enough and he gave the ball away a couple of times.

Anyone else feel sea sick after watching that video?

Tierney is very rusty though, hasn't played anywhere near enough for a player of his talent. Will probably lose him this summer to somebody else's gain.

probably Newcastle..........

Taking status and standing in English football into account the best teams are : Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Arsenal, Newcastle, Man City, Villa,Liverpool, Man Utd & Spurs. The rest more or less a muchness.

The bottom teams are anyone managed by Mr Lampard.

What is truly frightening is how is ANY team supposed to close that gap?
It is a real shame for Arsenal because they really blew a huge chance over the three previous games. Luck and fortune ran out. I think they missed a trick by not pushing harder to secure the transfer of Douglas Luiz. He would have perfectly filled a glaring hole. I hope they make Rice their absolute priority thus summer. Of course a centre back is also essential and ordinarily a priority but if Rice is available and wants the move? Get him. We also need a right back and may even need a left back if Tierney is not happy. Some of the football and insouciance of the youngsters has been a delight but they need a leader and some steel. The previous three games have been a dreadful disappointment but not a disaster. What is a disaster is that who can see a title challenge being mounted in the near future? |

They're now 6-4 to do the treble. Mad that in a season that was all about them dropping off a bit and how Arsenal were the bees knees that it's so likely that City will have their best ever season.
Money's ruining the game of course. But then it has for decades. Fact is though, there've been plenty of clubs who have spent loads and still messed up. Guardiola is a top level football genius. He just is. Arsenal need to focus on keeping their young squad together and adding a couple of quality players. Do that and they may become a 90+ point team and win it. Still a big ask though. The big clubs will be looking at their starlets and the Spanish giants will have Arteta on their shortlist. Sad, but that's just how it is nowadays. Meanwhile we're all just praying for the authorities to decide billion-dollar sports washing isn't in the interests of the sport (good luck with that!) or for Pep to try his hand in a different country. |

It's not over yet, lads. Arse are still top of the table and City have far bigger fish to fly (the CL).

^why do these two dopes keeping posting on here, you are the same poster, posting one after the other on every thread doesn't make it look like you're not, it does the opposite, that's how stupid you are.

We've now got as many points with 4 games left of the season as we did at the end of the 97/98 season when we won the double, on course for best points finish since 08 (83pts), outside chance to match our 2004 invicibles team and best ever points finish in 2004 with 90pts, have to win all 4 remaining games, whilst we stumbled when it mattered when the dust settles, overall it'll be seen as massive progression and a great achievement by Arteta to get the club back on track, couldn't have asked more at the start of the season then to get top 4, which at the time seemed 50/50, and back in the Champions League. It'll be harder to stay there with Liverpool and Chelsea bound to get back to winning ways and Newcastle now in the fray, but a successful season given the context nonetheless, Kind Regards.

Utterly brilliant trip up to Newcastle and back yesterday. Incredible atmosphere and we deserved the win.
Of course, we’ll finish second. Predicted as much back in the day on this thread. But what a great season. City are different gravy. Their resources are incredible and though we are planning to give Arteta £150million to spend in the window, that equates to just one city player (Grealish and Haaland contracts were of that value). It’s been incredible that we have been able to run them so close. |
|
By:
its brilliant what we have achieved, considering the first 3 games last season,
so exciting to watch, and we've done it WITHOUT BREAKING ANY FFP RULES. |
|

I have a nasty feeling that hope will be extinguished today - City to win and us to drop points against Brighton.
It has been a fantastic season. We’ve exceeded all expectations. But strange in a way. If you look at the current bottom seven clubs in the division, we’ve dropped nine points in total there, including four to Southampton. Makes you think what might have been. |
|
By:
fwiw, I've backed you lot to win it. City's run in is tough and packed. Reminds me a bit of Liverpool falling over the line last season. Arsenal bounced back well from the setback and are keeping the pressure on. They could wobble.

It’s always appalling when a local rival comes on your thread to gloat. Even more so when you’ve had a relatively successful season compared to last and you’re competing with the richest club in the world.
The last time I had to call a Spurs fan out for such a transgression was Sofa, and to be absolutely fair to him he heeded the warning and hasn’t posted anything infantile since. I don’t mind friendly banter and anything reasoned. In fact Jed Davidson was always most welcome on this thread as, though Spurs through and through, he was always fair and accurate in his assessments. In the aftermath of that, I did receive a PM from another, rather lovely, Spurs fan, which I’ll reproduce below: “Hi there, just a quick word to say well done for calling that tool sofaking out,imo he's nearly destroyed our Spurs thread single handedly with his supposed banter and the idiots he attracts like you’re so lucky lucky and his stupid emojis. Yours used to be a great thread and some good posters but i found myself not even opening it when he's posting, yes i read other club threads but have never dreamed of contributing on them especially as they are normally more interesting when teams are having a bad run!” |

fink sisters, you'll probably find Spurs fans will come on here in retaliation to the at least 3+ moronic arsenal fans who were politely asked to stop posting with their premature gloating on the spurs page... Wesdag and Storm Alert to name two...
I would love to call a truce, I do feel unclean spouting my BS here! tbh. |

fink sisters, you'll probably find Spurs fans will come on here in retaliation to the at least 3+ moronic arsenal fans who were politely asked to stop posting with their premature gloating on the spurs page... Wesdag and Storm Alert to name two... It's a fair enough point. Annoying, isn't it? As I say, a bit of mid season banter and debate is always acceptable. As long as it's reasoned. A half-witted 'unlucky lads' never is, whichever way it comes from. Even as an Arsenal fan, it's a bit desperate to solely measure your success merely by looking at how you compare to your nearest neighbours. |

the fink sisters 21 Apr 04 - It's a fair enough point. Annoying, isn't it?
It's not fair enough. I posted 2:3 on the Spurs site in retaliation to sofaking posting the score when Arsenal go behind in many threads and never giving any credit for a good result, especially beginning and end of last season. I felt it was time for some payback. Considering Spurs awful season thought I've been quite restrained. Nothing Wes or I posted on Spurs thread deserves Emitdeb's "moronic arsenal fans" criticism. Nothing wrong with a bit of banter either.| |

The only time the Irish Guy (that's his nom de plume) appears on our thread is as I said is in times of stress.
What goes around, comes around. So touché to him. He's a bit lacking in repartee and the only comment is "Unlucky lads" so I felt it was pertinent to throw the comment back. |

Fabulous season overall. Disappointing they tailed off once the title had gone. Need to turn up for the fans for the final home game at home and win well. Brilliant transfer business will set us up for next season and looking forward to being back in Champions League.

Yep great season and future looks a lot brighter. Squad is not built to win the PL yet, but with CL football we can make it much stronger.
Without the benefit of hindsight as I said we should bin the EL before the Sporting tie, Saliba got injured in the 2nd leg. Madness to have played irreplaceable players like Saliba, Saka, Martinelli etc in those games. The number of games they had played and the position we were in just made it a lot more likely that players would burn out eventually. |
