We are fit, rested players, motivated players, individuals in good form and a very strong bench. We could lose of course because we have clear faults, but we could just as easily win. A draw is a better result for us than them given only a few days ago we were 10 points behind. We are a dangerous side going forward and if they play their high-line against PEA he will have a field day with Mhiky and Ozil finding him in space.

Lich/JENK Sok Kos/SK Mon/KOL Mhik Torr Xhak Iwobi Oz/RAM Lacca/PEA Cech SUAR Elneny Guendouzi There really is quite a bit of competition for places and for me the only ones that are sure to start are - leno, SOK, MHIK, TORR, Iwobi- that should focus a few minds. |

Trying to look at this dispassionately (difficult) and can't help coming to the conclusion that 11/10 for a Spuds win on the exchange is a great price.
We've just won two games we ought to have done against teams that are particularly poor away from home. They've lost away to Chelsea (as did we) and Burnley, which is a very difficult ground to go to. Our away form is patchy and we have had some terrible away performances this season and we still have THAT defence we're all so worried about (haven't managed to keep a clean sheet away from home in the league). Plus, I can't help thinking back to the Carabao Cup, when they won fairly comfortably. I know it was 'just' the Carabao Cup, but we know that there is never a meaningless fixture where the derby is concerned and we both put out fairly strong teams. We have to match the performance of the 4-2 win at home earlier in the season when we were very good indeed. Team selection will be key. He's now managed to get a tune out of Oz, albeit against more limited opposition. I'd personally rather attack and try and get into them than try anything clever tactically, as I don't think that's our game at all. I have a few friends who are Spuds supporters (yes, really), and they are certainly more nervous than they would have been a couple of weeks ago. Having said that, they are more sanguine than many on The Spurs Files on here and realise that Poch is doing a good job with all the resources, and some of the restrictions, he's having to manage. |

Can't agree with you Enp. We don't have a strong starting eleven, let along a strong bench.
The defence you have suggested looks to me as it should be playing in the Championship. We have rode our luck on quite a few occasions this season. Granted, Tottenham are going through a bad patch, but they are leaps and bounds ahead of us in reality. If we do manage top 4, then great. Emery will deserve a huge pat on the back with the squad he inherited. |
|
By:
I agree that Spurs are ahead of us Blackrock, but the area that puts distance between the two side is defence. We have outscored them in attack, but our defence is so porous and badly organised that we are going into away games having to score a minimum of 2 in order to win.
|
|
By:
Spurs bench has looked very weak of late and they have to keep their main men on the go. I certainly do not think we are ahead in terms of two fit and rested first 11's. But I think we have edges on form, confidence, fitness and freshness. As I said, all results are possible.
|
|
By:
I would argue that our bench is very much stronger than them of late. it could easily look like :
Czech, Kosc, Kol, Ram, PEA, Guen, Suar and Elneny - this is not a weak bench at all. Our defending is the issue for me not the players we have available. |
|

spurs at 11/10 terrible price, arsenal to out score them hopefully, if i was betting on the game, goals looks the way forward. if spurs do manage to take the lead, automatic lay at the reduced price.

emery has dropped ozil
, that speaks volumes, obviously doesnt rate him and hes not part of his plans going forward |

Quite a team selection- big big calls made again and it will look awful if it doesn't come off but he will be hailed as a genius if it does.
|
|
By:
I agree with you enpassant. He'll be a genius if it works. He'll be Manuel from Fawlty Towers if it doesn't. My initial reaction was: "Oh Dear".

Mine was WTF !

By:
High energy and physicality it what he says he's gone for, with a big bench. Fair enough but he will get so much stick if it doesn't come off but he has got a lot right this season so he get's the benefit of the doubt from me at this point.

So far Emery so good. We now have a BIG BENCH that can go attacking or defending depending what the situation requires. Torr and PEA looking like they are getting ready to come on!

ozil the best passer in the team, could of put that penalty in the corner with eyes closed

Good result and good to take 4 points off them. More idiot 'defending', this time from Mustafi, cost us more than the pen miss. Lost count of the goals we've given away through basic defensive errors this season.
Thought we defended pretty well otherwise and looked fairly well organised at the back for once. Averaging 2 goals conceded per away game and no clean sheets away from home so to get a draw scoring one is the best we'd have hoped for pre-match. |

A game high on incident but low in quality. Seemed to be long periods of head tennis. Poor officiating generally and I thought Torreira's red card was harsh - Rose's reaction not great and probably made the ref's mind up.
I was convinced we'd lose, so a point not a bad result. Important for Manuel to get something out of the game having made a few big calls beforehand. |

A few debatable ones, but I thought Torreira's red card was a poor decision - Rose's reaction probably made the ref's mind up for him, which was disappointing to see. I was convinced we'd lose, so happy with a point. Important for Manuel to get something out of the game given he'd made a couple of big calls beforehand. Don't think I've seen as bad a player wear the shirt as Mustafa for some time. Surprised they didn't target him more. |

We should have won, but a bit same old Arsenal: missed some sitters, final ball not good enough, unusually defended well as a unit but an individual error from one of the usual suspects cost us dearly. #Xhakas'sturnto****upnextweek.
Spuds extremely lucky to get an undeserved point. Sooo frustrating! |
|
By:
Iwobi and Mhiky were very good but Sokratis was a f...king rock. Shame Lacca and PEA keep missing chances, some easy ones as well. If we get a result v Manu we will be absolutely in the hunt for top 4 as we prob have the easier run-in the the other 3 teams competing for 2 places.
Being disappointed with a point when most were pessimistic about the result pre-game is no bad thing. Kane should get an assist for our goal since his eagerness to look for contact and go down was vital. |
|
By:
Extremely disappointed. Nasty taste in the mouth. One point more than I feared we would get but when you have a target you must plunged the knife in.
|
|
By:
I get the refs have a tough time and not getting Kane offside is understandable. But how the feck can the ref not spot Vertonghen was 5 yds inside the box for our pen i'll never know. Especially as Auba would have had a tap in if Vertonghen hadn't of been in a position to block the follow up.

The scum were attacking old men and young fellas yet again. Firms of the past would be ashamed of these f..kwads posing as hardmen.

Going to be an interesting run-in.
Given that we are the only team in the league that always concedes an away goal, I don't share the optimism about our 'easier' run-in. Burnley are very in and out (beat Spuds, lost to Palace), but we have to play the current 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th. |

enpassant, Scum have and always will have, chips on there shoulders when it comes to The Arsenal.
Scum fans are like Liverpool fans, always the victims, They may have finished above us for a couple of seasons, and that is what they're screaming from the rooftops. but when you look in our trophy cabinet for the last 30 years, and then you look in there's. you just laugh in there faces.. They will NEVER BE AS BIG AS ...THE ARSENAL. |
|
By:
One additional positive yesterday was that we appeared to finish the stronger. Good to see them having to park the bus in the last 10 minutes.

By:
Totteringham going through may help us for top 4. Keeping fingers crossed for manure atm. Great game. I have no problem wishing ill on players health! I like the way The baby faced Assasin does not make excuses for a threadbare squad. They are Manchester United. If you put the shirt on you must feel like a giant. the same for all big clubs!

Tru dat
But Arsenal have Manure next who yes will be on a high and have great forwards but we are at home and have enough although to compete but tbh I fear Utd more than Totteringham! Spurs still have huge injury concerns and less strength in depth. Winks may be out again. Games against Citeh and Scouse. Tbh both teams are better than Arsenal atm but they may have eyes on a different prize. Add to that injury concerns and a chasing pack, nerves come into play and bottle. Chelsea have also started to play better. Rennes are quite a good side and an away win will focus eyes onto 4th place. I fear Emery may be thinking of the Europa League as his best chance of Champions League. We shall see |

The market doesn't really fancy your chances of a top 4 finish though. Arsenal- 3.0, Chelsea- 1.92, Spurs- 1.42, Man U- 2.2.
|
|
By:
Thats true but the market is not always right.
I have back Arsenal at 4.49 Layed Spurs 1.39 and Chelsea 1.75 Spurs and Chelsea have a couple of tough games to come. Arsenal have Man U next. I will be lloking to buy back Spuds and Chelski when the price is right ( if it is! ). I expect a lot of volatility as there are 4 teams involved. Arsenal the outsiders of course. The Chelsea and Spurs bets cancel each other out if one doesn't make top 4. If both make top 4 then I am screwed but c'est la vie. If Arsenal make it then I am in clover. I felt it was a good gamble, would have been even better if Bamayang scored from the spot last week! |
