Southampton - 28 points

Slippy...You really should know that on the roller coaster called Crystal Palace nothing is certain...seem to remember being at Selhurst many years ago and prematurely thinking we had done enough,I think even the players walked around thanking the fans...still went down...have to admit it would take 4 shocking results from our side and others to pick up unexpected wins, but never say never.....COYP

One word that should send shivers down the spine of all Palace fans.
Oldham. |

Went to over 30 games that year...still picture them walking around Selhurst after the last home game against Ipswich..I am convinced they thought it was already 'job done'...Think Oldhma won their last 3 that year...

Thought Chris Armstrong was superb that year...well in fact thought he was great in all 3 seasons for us..Went to Spurs and they ruined him...lol..

A point away to Watford was OK in what was a rather drab affair. Palace at home to Leicester on Saturday and to me that's 3 points for us and I'll punt on them to win as well. Southampton at home to Bournemouth, a absolutely must win game for Soton. If they don't get the win then it's very difficult to see how they will get out of escaping the drop.

Well that is that now, the fat lady is singing 'Glad all Over' after that thumping win today to put Leicester to the sword 5-0.
![]() It has been an absolute roller coaster of a season and it's never a smooth ride being a Palace fan but after the start from hell we had at the beginning of the season it's a huge relief for the club that we are safe now and can consolidate our position, which currently stands at a heady 11th in the table, with our last two games against Stoke and West Brom. I'm so happy for Roy Hodgson and he deserves massive praise for turning us around and hopefully onto bigger and better things at Selhurst next season. Cheers to The Dragon for throwing down a gauntlet that I just had to pick up and the bubbly will be most appreciated mate in what was a good fun thread. ![]() |

Arise Sir Roy......easy in the end....3 points this weekend and we could finish 10th / 11th..If that's the case,Sir Roy should win manager of the year...A full pre-season,some cash to splash, retain core of the present squad and we should be progressing to 5th-08th spot..Went everywhere with the Palace from 79 - 95 ish but still have one burning ambition...to see the boys play in Europe in a proper cup tie...maybe one day...

very well done in the end and deserved to stay up need to keep saha for next season

Yes we did very well in the end T.D. and to finish on a high beating West Brom today, ending up 11th in the table with 44 points was a Herculean turnaround for the Selhurst faithful. As eaglewardy has said and I agree with him in so far as Roy Hodgson deserves the utmost respect and praise for what he has achieved at the club and must be a contender at the very least for the manager of the year award I would have thought.
Rumours abound that maybe Zaha will be on his way but my guess is he'll stay with us, I sincerely hope so anyway. As an aside there was a nice interview with John Motson just now on BBC1 and todays match was his last as a commentator, he has been part and parcel of football for as long as I can remember and I hope he enjoys his retirement. |
