Let's be fair.  As soon as Scotland's so-called Player of the Year, Armstrong, gave away possession, like a twelve year old kid, to Cahill at Hampden, in 90+ minutes, instead of putting the ball high, wide and handsome, anywhere else on the park, we knew it was ending like this - again!
lmao.

Bleat, bleat, bleat, whine, whine, whine................ u have been moaning and whining on for years, that if u only were luckily enough to have had the same easy qualifying group as England, u would have easily qualified at least once for a tournament finals this millennium.

Well, what is yr excuse this time?

How many teams are needed in the finals before the sweaty socks qualify again? 48? 64? 80? 96? 112? 128? More?

God help us, English fans feeling smug that having a pool about 20 times bigger to choose from makes one feel immeasurably superior to a neighbouring country that in reality is a minnow and did well but not well enough. The defenders who couldn't deal with the injury time equaliser in the summer must shoulder a great burden for not standing up and taking control, the Goalie was poor in his support in that moment.

Does anyone think it is just a co-incidence that England have never even come close to winning that thing again?  Or just bad luck? Or just that they are always like Scotland - also rans?!  Or maybe the "Hand of God" plays a part?
How many years and counting?

Strachan press conference total embarrassment.

We fail because we are too small as players we need to work at genetics (he played 4ft 6in Barry Bannan), will you resign no I'm just thinking about the players and their families, they aren't technically better than us ffs has he seen James McArthur?

The man is a fuucking clown he should be sacked immediately.

they won it with a strong minded manager who knew his best team, if not his best individuals, one who engineered a team spirit and wouldn't listen to the wise men of the press and media.

Got what we deserved in the end. Shocking team selection.
Aided and abetted with the 1-1 draw with Lithuania and throwing away our lead v England.
When do the Euro qualifiers start? Laugh

I think we should just all agree that both England and Scotland are sh!te in their own ways and leave it at that.
By:

When: 09 Oct 17 13:42

that was scotland's best ever chance to qualify as we usually have 2 big teams in our group and this year we had no big teams in the section.

we should have been able to qualify from a group like that but once again we don't have an international class striker who we can depend on to score goals.

bit of a shambles when you need a abacus to work out who might be going through. must be a better way of doing it

can't really complain if you only get 18 points though. there's basically 12 free points in every group before you play anyone remotely competent. 6 points from the other 6 games ain't good

Serves them right. People moan about teams to scared to lose and then feel upset that the team that could only get 18 points out of 30 doesn't get in to the qualifiers. They were second seeds as well and still couldn't gather enough points to fininsh above the second placed teams who weren't 2nd seed teams.

So 19 points okay then. Makes a mockery of the game.
Tightest group at a disadvantage under this system.

think we can agree it's a ludicrous qualifying format but 18 or 19 points neither is very good with 2 pub teams in each group. can't really consider yourself hard done by. that's switzerland getting 27 points and still ending up in a play off

It's no different from away goals or goal difference being used to decide a winner, league position or qualifier. You're always going to get situations in football where the difference between the winner or a league position is by the most razor thin margin. Considering some teams won't qualify based on goal difference or away goals it's hardly an issue to cry about because out of 9 teams the one with the lowest points of them doesn't go in to a playoff.

That's why we got rid of the manager.

We had an easy group and didn't qualify.
