Cundy is right
the SPFL is a pub league Motherwell, Patrick, hamilton, Inverness, ross county, kilmarnock, etc all sign english conference players. time for celtic and rangers to move down south, join the conference North and work their way up. |

I wonder how many decades it would take this Sevco team to reach League 2

rangers can not beat the forth best team in that soccer powerhouse called Luxembourg.good enough for the conference?

i did suggest conference north!

He is right though. Outside Celtic the SPL is utterly dire as shown by the fact that the rest of their teams pretty much lose their first European tie every year. Not even like they lose to great opposition is it. Rangers to a team from Luxembourg, St. Johnstone going to out to a team from Lithuania, and not even the best teams from those countries. Bearing in mind those leagues are rated 48th and 51st out of 55 leagues in Europe.

n88..4th best team in Luxembourg..did not realise they had 4.

Outside the complete minnows like San Marino and Andorra, they are pretty much losing to teams from the next worst leagues. The rest of the Scottish league outside Celtic probably isn't any better than the Luxembourg league. Aberdeen only beat a team from Luxembourg 3-2 on aggregate last year, losing away to them.
By:
fair point..but we won 3-1 in leg 1 and battered them in leg 2..and went through
By:
Yep, I forgot you get bonus points for winning 8-0 on aggregate.
It's a peanuts and monkeys situation, there's no money in the game in Scotland - except at Celtic Park and "interest-free loans" at Snake Mountain. That's why most of the Premiership are shopping in the loans and bargain buckets. Having to start the Euro campaigns when ****g Wimbledon is still on doesn't help. I think St Johnstone had a summer break of 16 days. If Sevco played Progres in December, it would be very different. Thankfully, they didn't ![]() I don't generally disagree with what Jason Cundy says btw, but it's far more complicated than blah blah blah pub league blah blah. He's just looking to be talked about saying it like that. Which is his job. |

Just seen this..
Celtic success like many in europe is a by-product of uefa's champions league. Win the league, get into the group stages, get millions and buy up all the best players in your own native land. It kills competition. Thus Bayern win the bundesliga every year, Juve serie a, psg dominate ligue 1 and its always going to be one of real or barca en espana Anytime you see a team going unbeaten throughout a league season it ought to raise alarm bells. Arsenal in 2004 was no better. Wenger had a team of world class internationals beating up on teams packed full of bang average british players. As for scotland, My solution would be for celtic and indeed Rangers when they get their act together to join the EPL. Move the scottish season to march-november so we get some football to watch during the summer months. TV deal would increase if they could get the weekend slots all to themselves. |
By:
Remember when Manchester United could
buy up all the best players in England Yorke/Cole/Keane and even the likes of Sheringham and Carrick. These days they would have competition. |
By:
tbf all credit to Celtic.
The only teams to beat them in competitive games were Barcelona, Borussia Moenchen German Team and LINCOLN RED IMPS from Gibraltar !!!! |
By:
Will they get past Rosenborg ?
By:
Not worried about Rosenborg, Only concern is who we draw in the final qualifier. Need a bit of luck there.
By:
Rosenborg FFS
It must be really demoralising for celtic to play in these little pishy games, whilst the bigger clubs are raking it in with the big money tours in the far east |
By:
is farcical really that celtic have to play 3 qualifying rounds. dragged down by the failures of the other scottish clubs
maybe if you make the group stages the previous season you should get automatic entry to the last qualifying round |
By:
Not only Scotland having that though, and Celtic haven't even made it out of qualifying every year in recent times. Plenty of stronger nations already in qualifying action. Every nation with only 1 team in the CL has to play 3 qualifying rounds.
By:
lots of them are absolute no hopers though
far too many teams qualify for european comps in general. even the worse ranked countries get 2 places in the europa league and the middle ranking countries like scotland get 3 places. both 1 place too many in my opinion. just creates endless qualifying rounds clogging up the summer months |
By:
Anybody have a list of potential opponents in the final qualifier ?
By:
provisionally the 5 highest ranked non seeded teams in the last qualifying round (celtic will be seeded) are bate borisov, legia warsaw, apoel nicosia, maribor and qarabag
By:
So, can't get Liverpool etc ?
By:
no, 2 different sections of the qualifiers - champions only involving celtic obviously and another draw for teams finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th
platini's idea to make it easier for champions of lesser ranking nations to get into the groups |
By:
wish he'd done that a few years, instead we had to play the likes of Arsenal

They've got no one but themselves to blame...
'I know lets kickout our main old firm rivals' Voted to boot rangers out of the spl a couple of seasons ago...thus weakening their league, making it easier to win ten in row....This is the legacy of that sneaky decision. |

'I know lets kickout our main old firm rivals' Voted to boot rangers out of the spl a couple of seasons ago...thus weakening their league, making it easier to win ten in row....This is the legacy of that sneaky decision The old Rangers were never kicked out of any league but why let the truth get in the way of a good story. The old Glasgow Rangers withdrew their membership of the SPL on entering liquidation. Fact. The New Rangers that was launched by Charles Green was prevented from entering the SPL and were rightly placed in the bottom tier of Scottish football as they were a new club. Administration and subsequent liquidation were consequences of years of poor governance which included tax avoidance schemes which we all now know were illegal and that the old club was the biggest cheats in British sporting history. The stripping of titles will now follow in due course. ![]() ![]() ![]() The BetterBettor seems to be swallowing the propaganda emanating from ibrox and like a lot supporters/sympathisers are living in LaLa Land. |

Oh where to start.
That's riddled with inaccuracies tpi. But I will concentrate on two things you wrote that are easily disproved. 1 which we all now know were illegal If that was the case why weren't Rangers facing a criminal case rather than a civil action? 2 The stripping of titles will now follow in due course Conceded today despite earlier claims that no further moves will be made in respect of Rangers titles. That from the SPFL who, like the SFA, have taken legal advice and been told that Rangers have no case to answer. |

Celtic voted no to Rangers' SPL bid to 'protect the integrity' of Scottish football

ENJOY YOUR FARCE....with Rosenborg ![]() |

Won't be nearly as funny as Rangers' 'participation' in this years Europa League.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned on the thread, what price Celtic remain unbeaten again this upcoming season in the Scottish Premiership? does 16/1 sound about right?.
