with hindsight the worst of th changes was bertand for rose, rose is miles better going forward.dissapointing not to have won but england will represent favourite in the last 16 whoever they face from the potugal/ iceland group.after that you have to expect to play somebody half decent in the 1/4s and you never know who will still be in at that stage, there will be upsets in the first knockout round.

solano, doesn't really matter what the performance was like. we just had to win the group. in all probability there is a massive difference in routes to the semi final between 1st and 2nd. never mind who emerges from group F not a chance we will beat france on their own patch. have never beaten a proper team in a knock out match away from wembley
you can't make 6 changes without losing a hell of a lot. changing the full backs wasn't so bad but wilshere and henderson in midfield ? wilshere is looking more and more a horrible selection. he hasn't completed 90 minutes for arsenal since september 2014 and you can't expect him to be up to much with so little football recently. rooney may have his faults these days but he's about the only one on can put his foot on the ball and control the game |

We controlled the game.
The issues were poor finishing and a lack of width. All too narrow. As I said above, had Bertrand and Wheelchair not played I feel we would have been better. Rose and Rooney would probably have improved us for them two, but they'd still have parked the bus. Whether we'd have missed the same chances, who knows. Agree re route - it looks like a simpler route to the Semi albeit Spain would have battered us then anyway, imo. Ance nowt special for me, hitherto. Albeit they have a match winner that we seemingly don't. |

Against a "park the bus" team you need proper quality width(real wingers) not just full backs trying to get in on the action and give poor crosses and service.Also you need to get lots of shots in with all the possesion around the box.England reverted near the end to trying ambitious chips into the box.Vardy got zero service.

Proper width stretches teams and allows more space in an around the box. Cap doffed to the Slovak's mind you. Played deep to counter Vardy and Sturridge. Albeit both should have notched. |

Looking at Portugal's group they are unlikely to finish second (both matches in group would need to be drawn)
They will finish first or third (or last)and avoid England who will probably play Hungary or Austria |

win the group - round of 16 in Paris; quarter-final in Lille; semi-final in Lyon finish 2nd in group - round of 16 in Nice; quarter-final in Saint-Denis; semi-final in Marseille That's hundreds of pounds of difference for the travelling fans and England would be as welcome in Marseille as a dose of the clap. |

umm england rocking up in marseille again having knocked out france in the quarter finals a few days before (not that there's any chance of that)
