The FA have to make that decision, regardless. Even if that decision is to categorically state that they will not prevent any player from playing professional football. Having no guidelines, and making no public statement, is not a sound position for them to take.

agree. he can sue if they are wrong, which is why none of them want to make the decision. Regulate and do all the twitter scum

I think that the FA should have stepped in here, their total lack (or minimal at best) of involvement frankly is astounding. No suprises there then.

as a general concept they could limit wages for every person out on licence. The notion of someone out on licence who could earn millions (potentially) while on that licence was never the intention of licensing prisoners.

I would doubt whether they can draw up retrospective guidelines. But with the abundance of recent cases, especially Ched Evans and the specific comparisons to Marlon King, Luke McCormick and Lee Hughes, it should be clear they need to make some form of decision now.

no need for retrospective guidelines yet, for as long as he isn't playing

To be fair though, the FA are so useless, they haven't even decided whether Malky Mackay is allowed to manage or not yet. That despite the fact he's already found another job.

When you are on licence, not sure they even need a reason to take you back in. Haven't seen conditions, but legally a licence is usually discretionary. Prison system could attach condition and he would no doubt accept it but they would worry about him suing in case they were wrong

the FA are too concerned about lawsuits to come to any meaning decision that would involve them getting off the fence. Absolutely ludicrous they have allowed other clubs to go through the same process as Sheffield United thinking there is going to be a different public response this time round. God knows what was going through the mind of the Oldham owner/board either!

Other professions can bar people from being employed in that profession any more, Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Teachers, Legal Profession, Bankers, instantly spring to mind. Only earlier this week did I read about a teacher being struck off for sex offences despite the fact the police found no evidence in the case to even take it to court.

or just get the cops to do all the twatterati over the next 2 days. There is some doubt about Evans decision. Not about them if they can be traced. Death threats are illegal already. Shut them up ASAP. They deserve it. Why haven't cops even announced they are going after them?

talking about an authority making some decision about Evans to regulate the situation and avoid innocent people and their families getting death and other threats from both sides. There are two twitter mobs

"Greater Manchester Police's chief constable Sir Peter Fahy said his force would investigate threats to Oldham's staff and their families.
But GMP later clarified that no threats were currently being investigated as they had yet to receive any complaints."

"Prime Minister David Cameron told BBC North West Tonight that it was "unrealistic" for Evans to expect to get straight back into the sport.
He said: "Perhaps he needs to do more to put back in to the community some sense of atonement for what he's done before he restarts his career."

you would have thought Greg would have been able to act quite quickly when the PM is involved! I guess he's busy sorting out England's winning world cup team for Qatar Laugh

Yes but footballers are role models and kids will idolise evans when he scores goals, have his poster on their wall, have his name on their replica shirts etc....

Yes their parents will know all about it so how comfortable will they feel when they se their kids idolising him, having his poster on their wall and his name on their shirts?

Was lots of parents in Oldham today interviewed on tv and they all said they didn't want their kids idolising him, they said they wouldn't take their kids to matches if they signed him etc...
