That looks like a profitable afternoon Kings, 4 from 5, well done.
Gateshead was a good call too the Dragon, wish I had backed them at that price.Cool

The turn around at Gateshead has been remarkable. They looked doomed when they lost 13 league games in a row but they've now picked up 24 points in 11 games and have stayed up with games to spare.

I know it's a bit early to talk about a game on Thursday but I've just seen some very surprising odds for the Bromley v Cambridge game.

Bromley have been top of the table for ages and are 1/2 to win the title and they haven't lost at home for 13 months.

Cambridge have only picked up 3 points from their last 4 away games.

With this in mind, don't you think Bromley 2/1 Cambridge 11/8 is the wrong way around?

It will be interesting to see how much the odds change over the next four days.

I should add, Cambridge's top class 'keeper is suspended and a goalie who's never started a game in the football league will be in goal.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I think Bromley are a lump-on job, I'm just trying to comprehend how the bookies have decided that the Cambridge win is the most-likely result.

HEY VB,

Great to have you on the thread and its a very interesting point you make. One thing i wd say is the bookies dont often get it wrong but>>>

2/1 for a team that are top of the table and unbeaten at home-13 wins and 8 draws does seem a tad generous. Particuarly given that Cambridge have not won any of their last 4 away games and their away form against the top 9 is poor with 1 win in 7 games.

Form at this time of the year with so much at stake is very fickle but i agrree with your anaysis. Maybe a lay of Cambridge wd be the more cautious/safer option?

ive had a small interest in wrexkam today at 12/5. birmingham in poor form- 1 win in 6 and 4 losses-3 on the bounce

wrexham need to win this badly to retain hope of a play off positiomn. Their form is not great either 2 wins in 6 but they have played some strong form teams lately so im hoping that their need to win will get them over the line today.

the lay of brum is 5/4 if you fancy that option

Been looking at google for this game and there are some weird assessments. Some have the game on Tuesday not Thursday, some think Cambridge are at home and one thinks Bromley are bottom of the table !
9/5 is now the best I can get, so thanks for the info about the keeper. Had a fiver on Bromley.
Maybe it is on tv hence the date confusion.

Maybe Bromley will win, who knows but I would take into account that Notts County played the whole of the second half against the reserve keeper yesterday and were unable to score.

Brum v Wrexham ……both teams to score @ 1.77 is my main footy bet today

Morning, the Spy, good to see you again.

Just one bet for me today, Napoli to beat Parma @ 1.61

Napoli didn't go to plan yesterday unfortunately but glutton for punishment I'll try for BTTS in tonight's game between Man U and Leeds. (1.78).

Homes: Wigan 4/5 and Luton 1/3 - double

gl all- health warning - form is questionable at this time of year so only small bets

To be fair, Notts County made it very easy for him by somehow not having a single shot on target!

Even if David Raya was going to be in goal for Cambridge, I'd still find it baffling that the champions-elect, who have an amazingly-good home record, are the 3.25 outsiders against a team who've only picked up 3 points from their last 4 away games.

Yes. that's true Vince. I suspect being 3 up and a man down Cambridge put up an effective defensive screen around him. Good luck with your bet on Bromley.

Thanks, The Dragon, the bet looked in the balance after the red card but I had cashed out after the Leeds goal as the market offered 50% ROI and I judged that the reward /risk of hanging on for a Man U goal was poor (28/150 or around 18%).
Not sure about tonight's games but I think Ipswich might be good for a couple of goals but not sure about Pompey. Over 1.5 @ 1.41 looks reasonable value so have gone for that. Good luck with yours.

Bobbins - at least wigan won . Im hoping Luton can give me the double this evening. Hoping that Stockport can overcome their Wembley disappointment and win at relegation threatened Wimbledon - cd be a tough one

it went against the grain but i did back PSG to beat Liverpool so that helped - just champions league spot left for Liverpools awful season

Some unexpected results, Barrow scoring 3 in the last 10 minutes for example. It may be best to stick with derivatives rather than outright results. I looked at Norway now they have a few games under the belt and
Tromso v Lillestrom looks like BTTS. currently around 1.7. Both off to a flying start and scoring freely. Early days but I think worth a punt. You are right to keep stakes low at this time of the season, the Dragon.
Better luck today.

No goals in my pick last night unfortunately. I think I need to give the Eliteserien a few more weeks for the form to settle.
Just a modest interest tonight in the Forest v Porto game. Over 1.5 goals at 1.49. Both previous encounters between these teams this season ended with two goals scored.

As kick-off approaches, Bromley are 3.85 and Cambridge 2.28.

Just to be clear - I'm a Cambridge fan, so I can't back Bromley!

The reason I posted about this game was to try and get some theories for why a team who've taken just three points from their last four away games are clear favourites against a table-topping side that hasn't lost at home for over a year.

I suppose one theory is that Cambridge's performances have been better than Bromley's in recent weeks.

A poor couple of days for me last weekend with football and racing bets, my main bet in National didn’t make it past the first!! and although my only selection at Newcastle won I didn’t have anything on it (I am sure I backed it though!!)
Sunday wasn’t much better with Newcastle once again throwing away a lead to lose to a late goal
So, after also being ill for a few days I am hoping my luck is about to change and I’ve picked out 6 bets in the 12:30 games to, hopefully, give me a healthy profit.

Brentford @ 2.16    Derby @ 2.00     Bolton @ 2.04     Swindon @ 1.68

Over 2.5 goals: Portsmouth v Leicester @ 2.36
Both teams to score: Derby v Oxford @ 1.92

Good Luck if having any bets in the early games

Foinavon, I was looking into Reading v Cardiff as I thought I had missed something after looking at the odds (will check again before k.o.)
I’ll probably go Reading on the Asian Handicap with +0.5 goals or +1 goal (or maybe both)
Reading lost 4 of last 14 games, all losses to only 1 goal margin, they’ve also lost only 4 of 21 home games and taken points from 6 of 8 home games played against the 9 teams above them.
Cardiff dropped points in 7 of last 10 games and in 7 of 10 away games against teams in top half of league
Surely Reading can take something from this game

Dragon, Swindon conceding in 1st minute made me think I was on for another losing day, but didn’t take long for them to get in front though

Cardiff were shorter than I expected (which was somewhere between 1.8 and evens) and Plymouth are about right considering that Wimbledon had a hard match midweek and are missing Matty Stevens. I just think that Wimbledon desperately need the points and might hold on for a draw.

The right thing to do, the Dragon, there were a lot of draws in the early games apart from the Championship where all three were home wins.
Good luck with the later set OTH. I think Newcastle will win, not sure about the others. I think Spurs need opposing in the late game although I probably won't have any more bets

A few surprises today but not the ones I was hoping for.Sad A better showing from Spuds even though they didn't win. Can they climb to safety? It's still a big ask.

Only the 1 winner from my 3pm selections, but at least it was the biggest priced one!!

Just a couple of small bets on the 2pm games today

Forest/Villa  Double @ 2.53

and I’ll chance a bet on Liverpool @ 2.40

Good Luck All
