Probably the daftest comment on here because apart from one freak score against a team that gave up we know Germany cannot possibly be the best team you have seen in years unless of course you have been watching junior league stuff !! I follow many sports and find quite often the best way to find the winner of some tournaments is to find the team or person with the strongest reasons for winning particularly in a tight affair and given the posts above I can categorically say that is without doubt Argentina in this case. People should stop referring to a 7-1 score line which has been much debated and concluded by the majority that most decent teams would have given Brazil a good duffing that night. |

gentlemen, you never know what's going to happen in a football match. may i draw your attention to holland v spain and brazil v germany as proof.
if argentina and messi turn up in the mood to win the world cup. can anyone really stop the wee guy when he hits top form? anything is possible in this final it's likely to be a very tense cagey affair that wont come alive until a goal is scored personally i don't think there is much between the sides. germany are flattered by the demolition of brazil. they just scraped through a few games against average opposition earlier in the tournament. a draw in 90 minutes for me.. could go to extra-time and pens |

Argentina has already won the battle for their referee. Germany apparently wanted Webb, instead Argentina will get their personal referee this tournament and Italian "cousin" Rizzoli.

Everyone knows Germany are a quality side but there's no doubting that they're flattered by the freakish Brazil result. In earlier rounds, they drew with Ghana, needed extra time to scrape past Algeria and narrowly beat a French team that didn't bother turning up. They're rightly favourites to win as they're stronger all round than Argentina but only a fool would write off Argentina in south america in a one off game.

I dont think the rbazil result has put blinkers on german backers at all, theyre far superior to argentina in nearly every dept. As youll see on sunday.Just like previous world cups, theyve been the most exciting side to watch per attacking play, too. Id imagine theyve had far more goalscoring chances throughout the comp then argentina.

argentina are a cunning team and will know that messi will be targeted by the germans as the main threat with 2 or 3 on him everytime and will probably set out their stool not even to focus on him but focus on getting the ball to di maria who is the biggest threat on the left wing........if nueur tries he sweeper keeper manoeuvres he may come unstuck this time, you can get away with against the likes of algeria, this is messi's last chance to star really in a world final as in 4 years at 31 he may be burnt out,

Messi will go missing tomorrow like he has all tournament bar a couple of spectacular shots against sub standard teams.
sometimes you just have to see the writing on the wall. Brazil, they were poor leading up to the Germany game, below par performances, labouring to wins eenon penalties, then Tiago out, it was only a matter of time before they got battered by the first top team they came across. Fred was woeful. Spain, they were clearly coming to an end with there tippy tappy football that had been exposed a year before in the Confederations cup and were playing players either past their best or out of form, I mean Casillas? hardly played all season, the Dutch 5-1 game was on reflection, not a big surprise. Portgual, scraped through the play-offs v Sweden after finishing behind Russia and went into the world cup with an injured Ronaldo. Chile, we saw how good they were when they came to Wembley. Argentina, scraped past the likes of Nigeria, Bosnia, Iran, Switzerland and hardly had a shot v holland, Di Maria is not fully fit and there is something wrong with Messi, Germany will take them to the cleaners, I would be highly surprised if Messi had one single shot from inside the box. |

Argentina had the best defensive record in South America qualifying, conceded 15 goals in 16 games, 5 goals in their last 11 and only 3 in the World Cup, to think it will be a rollover will be a mistake........... Best bet here could be draw/germany and draw /argentina as you can only imagine the first half will be very cagey.................. Germany are favs and the pressure will be on them, the ref will favour them and the argentine pilgrimage that crossed the border will make them more the home team, it will be no 4/5 nil win lol if Messi wins the world cup = greatest player of all time |

Now Holland have trampled Brazil like Germany did we know that result meant little and in reality it is a very close match where game changers will be the most valuable asset on show rather than just the organisation of the German team, and which team has the greatest game changer on show tomorrow.
Holland may well have done a pretty good job of shackling Messi but they have a very good defence and the Germans for me can be undone in that department by the patient Argentinians. Like the 3rd/4th place play off the betting looks a bit of a con again based on one result and I would have it 15/8 the two and 7/4 the draw. |

there are no weak links in that defence from what I can see, Argentina have a good defence, but so did Brazil, the 17 matches before that match they hadn't conceded more than one goal in any match Muller is going for top scorer, backed him @33/1 |

I think anyone who really believes Germany will run away with this has lost the plot! This is the same German team who struggled to beat Algeria, who struggled to beat USA and needed Klose to save them from defeat against Ghana and Ghana were very unlucky not to win that game. Some people are reading far too much into that Brazil game. Brazil's defence was non existent in fact even my beloved Boro would have given them a run for their money that night (and we're sh!te). Okay so Argentina have been far from spectacular in their matches so far, but they are efficient, in fact they have reminded me of German teams of the past. I will be surprised if Argentina lost in 90 mins, after that who knows though personally i think it be all over in the 90 as i reckon Argentina will win.

Okay so Argentina have been far from spectacular in their matches so far, but they are efficient, in fact they have reminded me of German teams of the past. I will be surprised if Argentina lost in 90 mins, after that who knows though personally i think it be all over in the 90 as i reckon Argentina will win. Neither team has fallen behind first so far they've scored the first goal in all of their games, if Argentina fall behind first there is no coming back |

I think you've read it wrong, I said they did they did have a good defence before the Germany match, they only conceded 8 goals in the 17 matches prior to the semi final making the point that you can liken it to Argentina who also have a good defensive record before coming up against germany,

Talks of this Messi being the greatest player ever are utter sh*te as well, Messi is a great player that can turn games but spends long periods doing very little, its all a matter of opinion who you liked the most for me I liked Zidane a lot but also thought George best done things I have never seen anyone else do on a football pitch, Best and Maradona are the only players I would use the word genius for but Best will probably never get world recognition because he played for Ireland.

As regards Pele I know people that have seen him play at club level and apparently he even played in goal in at least one match and I am told he was just as good at playing that position so as I say its difficult comparing generations so far apart unless you know things like that.

The stats back it up, the only game they really looked really bad in was the one game Thiago missed. I don;t take notice of the third/fourth match, nobody really cared, van persie even gave his bronze medal away to a fan straight away. |

I cant see past Argentina. Mascherano's well marshalled defence seems impregnable right now. They are very stuffy, very difficult to play through. Germany wont be able to get into any rhythm and this will frustrate them. They'll be up against the proverbial brick wall. I've noticed that Germany always struggle when they aren't given room to play. By contrast, Argentina are always likely to grab a goal or two with the likes of Messi, Aguero and Higuain in the side.
