It's all on the next game, if colombia beat brazil then I think he'll win regardless of what happens next as he's guaranteed two more games to build on the momentum already achieved, but if they don't get past brazil then it's all over.....as said before, you have to get to at least the semis and in all bar two world cups previous, really the final, but it's encouraging that one of the two semi finalists to win it was last time in forlan, so it shows they are loosening up a bit these days.

"I never had any doubts that this was going to be his World Cup. From what I have seen, he is the best player in the World Cup."

Right well the way I see it is that Robben has talked himself out of any chance of wining it and none of the others impressed. Obv Messi looked knackered at the end but he didn't do much against workmanlike Swiss and carrying the team must be taking it's toll. I don't think James will be completely out of it even if Col do lose - at least he might be tradeable - although I'm aiming to get myself into a strong position pre kick off.
I've got £1200ish in the 'boot' market (had £4 on at around 300) and £300ish in the ball as had £5 at 65's last week to use for trading. I can't help but think one of the contenders for boot has got at least a couple more goals in him so I'm happy to trade a bit of that in lieu of my bets on the ball market and use the ball funds when Col have beaten Brazil and he's around 6/4.
I'm baffled by the odds on the Brazil game as people must be watching a different couple of teams to me and if both turn up from the last 3 weeks then it can only be a comfortable Col win. It is a big 'if' but even so I've had a cheeky couple of quid on Col 3-0 and 3-1 - can't find 4-1 though!

Win or lose it's still one of the best shouts on here in history

Cheers all - pad ta found it - win or lose it's served it's purpose and unless I'm a complete eejit I'll come out a couple of hundred up. I told my mates as well and not 1 of the feckers put the bet on - which will end up costing me a few hundred if it wins!

Feck knows how the castrol index works - james went down even though he scored 2 goals! App it was because he missed the 1st half of Jaap game which is baffling. Neither neymar nor messi is in the best team again (Ney ranked 6th and messi 11) so in theory they shouldn't be winning it but it doesn't work like that does it!
The Fr v Ger game will knock 1 of the main contenders out but it could also (with a very good 2goal+ performance) make either Ben or Muel fav - at least for the boot. I'm now green all markets but will keep a close eye for more trades esp on boot market. As for the game this eve i think Bra will miss Gustavo as he has been the solidity they needed in defence - maybe the shackles will be off and it might help them and open up Col though.
Scolari has said he'll put in an extra defender but i wouldn't be surprised if he goes the other way and gambles. Either way i think the prices are wrong - bra might well win but on the performances of the last few weeks and the fact that Col have hardly broken sweat (either phys or mentally) must count. I've done (just to a few quid) 3-0, 3-1 4-0 and 4-1 and Cuadraddo to be fgs, I'll also maybe do a couple of Brazil scores but prob only if they drift a bit.
Good luck for the eve's entertainment.

Bizarre that he should be penalised for missing the 1st half against Japan. He was sensational in the 2nd!

We'll both be happy if your bets come in tonight, spyker.
By:

When: 04 Jul 14 11:03
Cheers, i hope a few joined in if only to a few quid - I think the only way the bet(s) collapses this eve is if Muel or Ben (esp Muel) puts in a v good performance and Col get hammered (with a Neymar mom for good measure). Anything else and i should be able to at least get an ok profit, Col win and Arg go out 2moz then happy days!

Messi will probably get a double somewhere along the line and win it. He's been miles ahead of every other individual though

Early goal was the killer for Col (as well as Cuadraddo!), ref let both teams get away with a fair deal and james got battered. Pen def makes things interesting as he was the best player on the pitch but won't get mom and Neymar wasn't great and may be out (or at least not 100%) so it's basically over to messi/arg for now. Top gs is def v interesting as he is almost 3 clear in effect now.

Only problem is for top scorer if Argentina win tomorrow and messi bags he could be odds on with 2 games to come

Don't worry the Belgians will see 'em off - they def have a chance - but maybe Arg will improve as much as Brazil did, though still not impressive really.

Last time Argentina met Brazil in a world cup was 86. Their star man scored a double and they went on to win the trophy.

Wonder if history could repeat itself???

Great shout by the opening post. Unlucky mate. Best player of the tournament so far by miles, but no way he wins it now. Winner will come from the winning side. Hope you bet him @ 85 to be top scorer.

Schillaci, forlan & Leonidas won the golden ball when their team was eliminated in the semi finals, but no player has achieved the award, from this elimination stage.

It does depend who the winner/finalist is - david Luiz may well be the best placed Brazilian now and he could win it by default. FIFA would love an Arg Bra final and would love to give it to either messi or A.N.other Brazilian. Anybody else (in final) and I'm not so sure.

wd spyker fantastc stuff, though I wouldn't rule Robben out of anything. I can see him running riot against Costa Rica and I wouldn't rule them out v Argentina or Belgium.
By:
spyker
When: 04 Jul 14 23:57
Yeah Robben is in with a shout with a v good performance but the diving 'apology' must count against him. Rivaldo 2002 is the answer to my last question and James is the first to do it in his first 5 since somebody in the 70's which was spread over 8 years!

Confirmed: 3rd favourite Junior Neymar out of the World Cup with a fractured vertebrae.
(Before today Golden Ball was 5/2 Messi 3/1 Rodriguez 7/2 Neymar 10/1 Robben).

messi the only danger now, but with 6 goals in 5 games not sure how they can look past James??
By:

When: 05 Jul 14 09:44
Best scenaerio is Belgium getting to final but after that I'm not sure now! Muller could def still get the boot with 2 goals and an assist and if he does that he stands a chance of winning the ball esp if it is in the final. Luiz has been conspicuously high in the fifa rankings and he is def the 'A.N Other' Brazilian, Robben would need to have a masterclass this eve I think. I'm beginning to think that if James wins the boot he won't win the ball which for our purposes is the wrong way round! We know we've def been stitched up if luiz wins it though!
By:
duffy
When: 05 Jul 14 12:33
Robben looks over-priced on the face of it but when you take into account a chance of a tie on 6 it takes all the value out of it, the dutch will get lots of chances against a poor costa rica side who aren't equipped to park the bus, but can robben get 4 by the end of the tournament to win it outright...doubtful.....the comparison with messi though is crazy....3 and 18, with the way the argies are playing and the dutch up against costa rica.

Bad luck last night spyker. Better refine and they could still be in the tourn.

Quality selection hope you green on him now.

I took a red screen before last night :-(

Will pop some on messi to cover the red.
