BM should have been around even money, but the hysteria surrounding them reached epic proportions and thus we have a bargain.

Tonight I will be laying PSG. Not a huge bet like Man U - it's not a cert but I think EPL class will tell.
How about you rommel, will you bet tonight? |
|
By:
why didnt bm just have a pop-from edge of area, just sling it in from the side, infuriating
|

By:
have no idea what psg are like really,on the match at least give it 10-15

If Pep told his players not to shoot from outside the box he's wrong. A lot of things can happen when you shoot at goal, secondary ball, deflections etc. Pep is wrong here and it will cost BM goals.

I think it might be a shcok for PSG when they come up against really top class opposition. They are not used to it. I wonder if they can up their game because I think they'll need to.

the shock can work both ways, v hard to predict...

I might bet on Dortmund to qualify if RM take the lead tonight. It depends on how big the odds are but the market can often overreact when a team like RM take the lead under these circumstances. Smallish bet though - I wouldn't throw a lot of dosh at it. It's speculative but I think Dortmund are very underrated.

rm@1.38-match,unders nearly 2/1

By:
I wouldn't back RM tonight. Dortmund are very underrated imo and could cause a surprise.
|
|
By:
the spanish game is so lauded...must get into the players heads too, you're right, shocking price for rm
|
|
By:
It's similar to what I said about PSG. It might be a bit of a shock for RM to have a decent side stand up to them. They are not used to it.

Some people just don't understand 2 leg affairs in Europe. The 1st leg is only half-time. It's all about the 2nd leg. Away goals are gold. A score draw away is an excellent result, that's why no away team will bust a gut to chase a first leg victory. That's why BM odds at OT were ridiculous, because they just didn't care that much if it was a win or a draw. They only care about qualifying.

You still don't get it rommel, maybe you never will. It's a different mentality in these 2 leg affairs. BM would have liked to win yes, but the point is a score draw does them just about as well. It's not about 3 points it's about qualifying. Why bust a gut when it's not really necessary? They have a draw and an away goal to take back home for the 2nd leg. Win if you can but a score draw will do nicely was always going to be their mentality. I never back any side that does not need to win.
Actually in that respect RM tonight is a better bet than BM were last night. The difference here is that RM really do need to win. They will throw everything at BD for a victory, that will be their mentality tonight. It's just that I think the odds are a bit too short. BM's mentality last night was win if you can but a draw will do v nicely thank you. |

By:
no you dont get it,bm were trying to win that game last night, yes theyre still favs-the away goal too,utd have still got a chance,bm would prefer they didnt, clear?

Some people just don't understand 2 leg affairs in Europe. The 1st leg is only half-time. It's all about the 2nd leg. I've just done a quick search but i couldn't find any posts from you saying this after Bayern won at Arsenal twice. There are no posts from you saying this after they beat Juventus and smashed Barcelona in first legs. Or when they beat Real Madrid. Did people not understand 2 leg affairs then? Was it all about the 2nd leg then? Bayern had won their last 6 first leg knock out ties. Fair play to you, you called last night right. Although i notice you went from seeing how the game started before having a bet to suddenly mentioning a 'huge lay of United' after they'd scored. But you're waffling on as though last night was the norm, far from it going on previous results/form. |
|
By:
The same goes for Chelsea tonight. They could win this game imo but they don't need to. They will be v happy with a score draw any draw. Chelsea won't chase the game too hard because they don't need to. Win if you can but a draw will do nicely TYVM.

By:
how could you or chels possibly know what theyll need when the 2 nd leg comes around, the might have half the team wiped out with flu ffs
|
|
By:
and lets assume theyll try hard eh,-cl qf

biscuit you misguided fool, you are wrong again. I only wanted to see how Man U lined up and how they approached the game. I put my bets on about 3-4 mts into the game after I was satisfied they weren't going to go all out attack. I only mentioned my bet at all because rommel kept hounding me about it. I don't like talking about my bets in detail at all.
As for the 2 leg affair aspect. It has always been the same as long as I can remember. The old European Cup was all 2 leg affairs and the mentality is very different to league games. Why not try and win every league game? It's all about getting 3 points. KO stage is v different. Then it becomes all about qualifying. The points don't mean much. Away goals are gold and an away score draw is an excellent result. A 1-0 home result is an excellent result. Away teams never chase games too hard because 1) there's no need... 2)why expose yourself at the back and risk conceding goals when you can take this team back home and beat them? 1st leg is only half-time qualifying is all that matters |
|
By:
you must be on a wind up highlander, everyone knows its a 2 legged affair and the mindset is different, but as mentioned in the case of BM the form of the last 2 years shows a different picture
|
|
By:
The fact remains they'd won their last 6 first leg knockout ties so your point about them not wanting to win, only care about the 2nd leg, it's a 2 legged tie blah blah blah is pretty much completely wrong.
If you'd applied your '2 legged tie' insight to Bayern over the past couple of years you'd be horribly down. Basically your reasoning is totally flawed yet you somehow arrived at the correct outcome this time. So well done. |
|
By:
It depends who is at home as well biscuit. The home team need to win the away team don't. Now if you are up against weak opposition you will probably win anyway but against a team like Man U at OT, well, that's different. Did you listen to Robben after the game? He was laughing at the people who were saying how BM were going to thrash Man U. He basically backed me up by saying "football doesn't work that way. Away from home in Europe against a team like United at this stage of the competition was never going to be easy." I'm paraphrasing but that was the general jist of it.

I take every game as an individual event biscuit. I have never cared much for stats. Stats are very misleading.
"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. |

I'm still waiting for the results. I cant assess their significance until I see the opposition and where the 1st leg took place, home or away.
