Hello all - hope your well!
Will it be THIS season? Lost on Luton last season - even my each way bet couldn't win me my stake back like in previous seasons! Not putting a penny on Town this season... may bring em luck! ![]() |

Afternoon all.
Well a couple of very good pre season results. Just amazed how our players can step up against superior opposition but fail against so called lesser teams. Maybe an attitude problem that hopefully John Still can sort out. Feel like we need to start the season flying rather than looking at building up a head of steam. Lets just get at teams and put them to the sword, laying down a marker for the other contenders. I'm also with you Bobsy, I'm opting out as ive backed us every season so far ![]() COYH |

Sorry about the nag. Yard don't know what went wrong.
Good result today, 7-0 against a young Arsenal side, that sort of win will put the edge on for Southport next Saturday. Only about 12 minutes drive for me. ![]() |

Just back from a week in the lakes to find my fifty notes matched at 5.5 and that we beat Arsenal youth 7-0 !!!!!!!

Barstool,
Do you still have that giant CB playing for you. Kovacs , was it ? |
|
By:
No, he's gone, for the better I think. Great in the air, not so quick on his feet. We have Sumo from Fleetwood now.

Well, that was a bad start by the Town. Useless in first half, Southport far sharper, won most tackles, most headers, played it on the ground and deserved the win.
No height in the Luton team, front two no support at all. Went behind to a fluke goal, deflected. Improved when Grey came on (should have started imo). Then McNulty got himself sent off . Grey missed an open goal, Whalley missed a penalty. But that was that. Shame as a lot of Fans travelled. No good enough today, sad to report. ![]() |

Over 2200 at the game, Southport normally average under a 1000. So a pretty good turn out by Luton fans.
I think the penalty was the only shot their keeper had to save yesterday. Tyler had to make a couple of good ones. |

When you get long term stagnancy like this maybe... just maybe... it's time for the board to go. They have done well in that they stablised Luton after the financial troubles but they do not seem to be able to oversee a title-winning side to get us back in the league. I would say thanks for what they have done, but please move on and lets see a new board start a new revolution. Ok, I'll give them ten matches, but if we have'nt won at least seven of them then its time to go, imo.

It's one game for christ's sake....get a grip.....we will still finish top.
The manager gets the players in, the board just make the money available and try to keep us solvent for a change. If we can't win the league on crowds of 7,000 then the managers choice of incoming players will be the one and only reason we fail. |

I agree with Madhatter. The board have saved this club and been financially sensible. I'd rather have a club to support in th Conference than no club at all.
And Hello Bobsy :) |

Chance to put things right tomorrow, the another home game. Last Saturday, if anything should wake them up. Up the Hatters!

Andre Grey left out again. Best striker we have. What is going on? Cullen looked poor on Saturday, Shaw was injured, yet the both start.
0.0 at half time is poor. 120 mins against relegation sides and no goals. Get the best striker we have on, please. |

Listening on three counties, depressing stuff so far.
Not a decent shot on goal as yet. |

I saw Gary Brabbin at Southport on Saturday. He looked really fit and well. Glad to be rid of the pressure that comes with this club I guess.

Went to game tonight....we were **** first half even against a pretty poor team. Endless head tennis.
Gray coming on for the last 30 minutes completely turned the game....we played quite well from then on. McNulty was excellent as was Charles (went off injured at about 70 mins, clutching his shoulder/arm). Luke Gutteridge was also very good but couldn't see what the new left back (Griffiths) had to offer that Howells, O'Donnell, Rowe-Turner and Taylor couldn't have all done better. Tiawo penalty was very cool but he isn't generally as good a player as Smith or the injured Lawless. Cullen had a poor game. Smith at right back was ok but he looked much better in centre-mid last season. Found it hard to believe that Gray and Howells weren't considered good enough to start. Wingers (Whalley & Martin) got better (more space) as game progressed and with better service from the outstanding Gray. With no injuries then I would like to see Tyler Henry McNulty Charles Howells Lawless Smith Gutteridge Martin Shaw Gray Subs: Justham, Whalley, Robinson, O'Donnell, Lacey Can't get to next home game (Macclesfield, Saturday) but will report back on the Cambridge game on Bank Holiday Monday |

Griffiths looked good at Southport mad. Cullen not so good. Nice too see we are in the same camp with Grey. A class apart imo.
Macclesfield lost two now. Southport top. Looked sharp against us. Good to see. Hope they come second. ![]() |

Griffiths was ok - seemed to struggle a bit with directing his headers to his teammates but made plenty of good tackles.....just think that definitely Howells and probably O'Donnell would do better, particularly going forward but hey, I've only seen him play the once so far!
Taylor isn't such a loss as Rowe-Turner but, as I said earlier in the thread, I worry that McNulty & Charles, despite their fine showing last night, will be done badly for pace against the quicker/better forwards that they will surely face in the coming weeks. R-T was very fast and could more readily cover the ball behind behind the back row. Still, onwards and upwards!!!! ![]() |

Listened in on Three Counties Radio. Another poor performance. Midfield second best again by the sound of it. Lucky to get a point, 96 minute.

4 points from Southport, Salisbury and Macclesfield
