Mads,
I think everyone knew Still was gonna put out essentially the same reserve/youth team as beat Staines in the previous round and that we ain't really bothered about winning it - the league is so much more important. So they prob did go shopping....although probably not in Luton!Devil

Almost there now, suspect the Cambridge wheels might start to come loose now the pressure is being applied.

Hoping for a few good Christmas results.

Grimsby have games in hand and are looking the best team in the division.

They are the team wit the best defence and their attack is on fire and finally clicked into place. Forget Cambridge, it`s the Mighty Mariners who who are the team to watch.

Hi barstool,

Boy's home from Uni for Xmas so got tickets for the Gateshead, Kiddy and Barnet (h) games.

Gateshead passed it around really well first 20 mins but when we scored it became all Luton. Tended to ease off and let them back into it a bit but never really looked in any danger.

Terrible shame about Jonathan Smith.......along with McNulty he is the foundation of our team. We will not be so good for the rest of this season....he breaks up all the play and picks up all the loose balls to start a large percentage of our attacks.

Don't know what Still will do.....he has had Robinson and Howells as subs most weeks and I would be tempted to either put Robbo in as straight replacement or, and preferably for me, put Howells in on the left and either just move Lawless inside or move him to the right and play Gutteridge alongside Ruddock.

Would be good to have Parry fit again, then we could just try slotting him in as Smith replacement.

Whatever, we will miss Smith badly.......

On the bright side, I hear that Cambridge have lost Appiah and Maxwell - they have gone back to their parent clubs?

Watch out Money...we are coming for you!

And yes - I agree Grimsby are a bigger worry than Cambridge, but no-one is playing bettr than we are at this time - let's just hope that doesn't change in Jonathan's sad absence.

Will report back on todays game later tonight/tomorrow.

Cheers,
Mad.

Hi mad,

Thanks for the post. Bet you enjoyed today's 6-0 romp.

As you say, pity about JS, but hopefully our squad is strong enough to cope.

Sides must dread playing us now.

Still has certainly turned the club round.

2-1 for Luton against Barnet today. 7,500 gate following 8,500 on Boxing Day. Not bad for the Conference.

4 points clear, 18 unbeaten.Happy

Cant believe ref allowed it to go ahead.

Probably only because it was on t.v.

I reckon he was hoping we'd get through 20-30 mins with no score then he would have called it off.

Us scoring after 84 seconds buggered that plan.

Pretty sure that had Barnet equalised he would have stopped almost straight afterwards but it is always harder to stop a game when one team has an advantage.

Yes, Barnet had every right to complain about ref allowing it to continue but of course had they been 2-0 up then they wouldn't have wanted to stop.

Lawless got m.o.m but for me it was Howells and then Griffiths.

The Kiddie game was brilliant and is the best I've seen Henry play for us. Robinson stepped in for Smith and did really well after a nervy first 10 minutes.

Bit worried about the rate at which we are losing people from the centre of defence/midfield and a shortage of replacements.....Smith out for season, Ruddock gone back to West Ham, Davies and Mawson loans expire tomorrow. That leaves us one short in defence and no midfield cover. Don't really like Taiwo (so negative) and I feel we need Lacey and Parry back to full fitness asap.

Let's hope that Davies/Mawson loans can be extended and the icing on the cake would be to have Pelly back....he looks a star in the making. Trouble is that idiot Nolan has now put himself out for five weeks I think....so that makes it even less likely that Ruddock will be allowed back.

The only positive arriving from these changes is that Jake is now back in the team as I always felt he should be and has had two really good games. I have had to change my mind over Griffiths.....didn't like him first few games of season but he has now settled in really well and is consistently one of our better players.

And, just to finish, Steve McNulty.....you'd never think of him as athletic enough to play at this level but he is a star. Rarely misses a ball, virtually always in the right place at the right time, skillful, creates time on the ball, passes it crisply along the ground (no hoofing!) and organises the rest of the team excellently. A great signing by Buckle. And what a goal he scored against Southport!!!!!!!!!

If McNulty was built like a footballer rather than a rugby player he would probably be playing a much higher standard.

yes i thought mcnulty was as solid as a rock too, looks grossly overweight but he sure put in a shift yesterday, good team are luton,on a roll, and should go on to win the league

I thought Grey was the best player on the pitch yesterday, he ran his socks off, totally different player than at the start of the season.

Odds on to win the league now, soon be unbackable.

0-0 today at Lincoln... I'm happy with that. Would have liked to see it postponed at the 11.00 inspection time given how hard the game was on NY Day.

Listened to it on the radio and think it was pretty even game for first hour (Lincoln maybe shaded it) but it mostly us pressing to score in last 30 mins.

Three of ours booked and Gutteridge had to go off....yet another potentially missing central midfielder for us.Sad

Still, just FA Trophy next week so extra week for him to recover.

Cambridge are at Braintree (weather permitting!) this coming Tuesday.

Pelly Ruddock signs for Luton!

Excellent young midfielder from West Ham that we had on loan for two months before Xmas has signed a permanent deal with us.....

Plus....Jernade Meade, another youngster who played for Arsenal in the Champions league last season and is now at Swansea, has also signed a loan deal with us until the end of the season.

COYH!!!!!!!!

And come on Grimsby tonight please!!!!!!
