I'm not affected by immigration, but you can understand how workers (or unemployed) in some types of job in some locations who have a lot of competition might be p*ssed off at it. Having said that many employers have said immigrants have a far stronger work ethic.. Some Labour guy more recently stated that Labours immigration policy was deliberately lax as it was intended "to rub the right's nose in it". What a shower and what a way to run a country. That is the thing that pis ses me off most. One, if these chappies from Eastern Europe are such hard workers why is their country in such a state. Two it s not like the Country was struggling before Dariuz Michchezlki and his friends came over |

Just Checking, oh dear. You need to delve much deeper than that my friend. Meanwhile the game known as politics continues to create diversions, and has us mere peasants completely baffled, and arguing amongst ourselves about who should get what and who should and shouldn't be allowed in our country.

Some of you make me laugh, you can't manage on JSA or income support?? work it out how much you get in real terms.
RENT £85.00 A WEEK approx COUNCIL TAX £20.00 A WEEK approx JSA £71.00 A WEEK FREE PRESCRIPTIONS FREE EYE GLASSES FREE DENTAL CARE £200 on average for a single person which equates to the minimum wage, for sitting on your fat lardy arris's. A lot of the lower paid jobs in this country are done by immigrant workers yet around only 6% of them in the UK claim benefits. Before I sold my company I would not employ British workers if I had a choice,I found them lazy and part of a "blame someone else culture" There are many British in this country who have and do abuse the very system that is there to support them. |

I dont like politicians efisio they're all as bad as each other and this cobblers that "we're all in this together" while they have their food travel and home subsidised by the taxpayer.
But think the time has come when those who dont work get more than those who do, when employers employ people just because they will do the job for no money whatsoever, when the NHS and Housing in this country is under major strain something has to be done |

Been reading through this thread and 1 of the big problems i see with the immigrant workers is the fact they are allowed to send money back to their homeland. I have worked alongside many eastern europeans and when spoken to them they send more money back home than they keep thereself which is draining money out of our economy.

You're right daffodill. Maybe we should all learn from the example of our Eastern European cousins, and live 10 in a room, at least our earnings would actually stay in Britain.

SJ the problem is, that it was a planned excerise to allow loads of eastern europeans in to drive down the minimum wage. They have ****ked the economy, and now because of the pathetic wages we have, it does look fairly attractive to live on benefits. However the fact is that most on benefits, and those on low pay do not have a reasonable standard of living.

Very neatly underlined by the policewoman sueing the guy because she tripped over a curb answering a call. Absolutely re-***ing-diculous. |

tories only ever bang on about one side of the low-pay vs benefits equation - the side that suits them. perfectly happy to drive down ordinary people's wages and drive up housing costs because that makes them money for sitting on their fat arrises.
one of that shower of parasites dares ring my doorbell next time they're getting it both barrels*, even if it's one of the little old lady brigade. they can royally go feck themselves, the lying hypocritical thieves. *verbally, before anyone goes bleating to the thought police. |

I know it was mate, I know better than most as I've done warehouse work for the last 13 years since I left school and never claimed or been out of work for more than two weeks. As I've said people in that line of work are on less now than they was in 2000, HGV drivers the same |

I have had to put up with all the usual excuses from British workers such as "it aint my job it's his" "sorry I didn't come to work yesterday my kid was bad" "I couldn't phone in sick,no credit on my phone" you name it and I along with other companies have heard it which is why there are lots of them now employing overseas workers. |

What? I'm not saying YOU are ridiculous, I was obviously agreeing with you by citing an example in the news of the blame someone else culture! Do you have a foreign employee to do your reading comprehension for you?! ![]() |

totally understand were people are coming from with the concept the eastern euopeans are harder working then the british nationals ,who like you say live in a blame culture ,and wont ought for nought , but you cant just diregard our own because they dont work has hard, there has to be radical ideas and squeezing of the benefits system, and of of course stop immigration at the rate it s at , to now start getting people into the working enviroment

You've just left school and you go to get a job and people like yourself have already got the view in your mind that this person in front of my isnt going to work as hard as a someone from abroad a poor poor show my friend poor indeed I started off my working life straight from an Approved school working 3 part time jobs cleaning toilets 6 days a week because no one would give me a chance while people looked down at me.I have given chances time and time again to people who worked for me to improve themselves but had it thrown back in my face on numerous occasions and lost count how many times I've been let down.As for 10 to a room, myself and 4 brothers shared 1 room as did my family who shared a house with another family in the 60s. |

You're missing the point with your attitude now as an employer you wouldnt get the job my friend, why? Because you say Immigrants work harder than British workers.

But what if he's correct in that belief?
Is he not allowed to believe it if the evidence suggests otherwise as that's "wrongthink"? |

But what if he's correct in that belief? Is he not allowed to believe it if the evidence suggests otherwise as that's "wrongthink"? Ok lets do this a different way, lets forget the Eastern Europeans replacing the builders/warehouse/manufactures/Lorry driving jobs. Lets go down the live of City and Office workers being replaced by the chinese and rather than getting 30-40K a year they now get 25-30K a year. Lets see how they get on with the bills. But we know that wont happen cos its fu ck the working class who do the manual labour jobs. And if he's correct in that "belief" then if he was born in this generation he would never of been given a chance to get a job himself to then go on and get a business. Sorry I just dont buy it at all |

By:
the problem is the benefits system has been abused by some people, which has given the tories the excuse to do what they've always wanted to do: whittle it away as part of their project of driving down wages for the working poor and not so poor.
people working crappy jobs think "how come that fecker's getting the same as me for sitting on his @rse?" but don't ask why am I getting paid feck all for doing this job and spending most of it on rent to a property millionaire. |

In the 1960s the state was also paying less then 1/10th of the amount of the current welfare budget... Its amazing how the country continued to function if you believe all the sob stories being trotted out today about some minor adjustments.

sj I see your point but it's two different issues.
If say there was no immigration tommorow then this wouldn't improve the work ethic of (some) British employees. Daffodil is saying the things I was being told from an employer I was talking to at a party a little while back, local employees just not turning up if they didn't feel like it and in general not giving a **** etc, he prefered foreign workers not for lower wages but because they were dependable and wanted to work. |

But when the attitude is "I'm not gonna employ British workers" I know agency's who wont even place British people in warehouse work. And again to my point are you really trying to tell me the manual labour jobs and HGV driving didnt get done over here until the Eastern European influx? Cos you're talking shoite. All the workers in the Warehouse I work are British we provide for one of the biggest Glass distributors in the UK and Europe everyone works hard and gets on |
