Tories = give the rich tax breaks, screw the poor
The Economists = "dont vote Tory unless you earn +£60,000 a year otherwise it is costing you serious wedge" Tory Media = hide the truth by only talking about immigrants and scroungers Southeners = keep voting Tory because believe immigrants and scroungers are the real problem Tories = more tax breaks for rich, more cuts for poor. Enboldened, end free healthcare, child benefit, freeze jsa etc whilst sobbing with laughter at how they are pulling this off still |

5 million people on waiting list for council housing across the uk.
build 5 million homes -- many of these new, others would be fixing up existing, but empty houses. Let them out at low rents, kept low by rent controls and NEVER TO BE SOLD -- ALWAYS KEPT AS COUNCIL HOUSING. 5 million homes at 150k each build costs -- 750 billion? Don't have to do it all at once, just do 330k homes per year for 15 years, 50 billion a year. Each home being rented to help pay off the borrowing to build it, builders given loads of work and all the money goes sloshing back into the economy, spending driving profits of other businesses and bringing in tax revenue. The homes will be continually rented long after the initial build costs are recouped. All rents driven down across the land = lower housing benefit bill. Some private landlords would go skint and some banks would lose some money, but tough sh1t. Anyway, it's too late and I'm too thick to know if that's remotely possible, but it'd be nice to see something along those lines! |

do u know just how many empty homes there are in the country - hundreds and hundreds of thousands
notonly that, 90% of the country live on just 10% of the land, all squeezed in together in high rise bloacks and concrete jungle estates, and then working class families are called feral scum when they get into trouble and fail school....is it any wonder that happens population country is the only way forward, get out of the eu as fast as possible, ukip are doing a good job with raising this issue and forcing their hands there is a permanent unemployment % over the decades that runs into the millions, 2.6 million now? there are not 2.6 million spare jobs, its all common sense, less people = less applicants to jobs and higher % chance of employment plus this bedroom tax will encourage people to breed more to avoid it. |

"it was the Tories that opened the gates for mass immigration"
This was an amazing feat being out of office between 1997 and a time where they immediately started trying to stop immigration and get sh*t from labour for it. Only stating *facts* mind you! Monopoly bets on the BF football forum replaced with monopoly politial comment :) |

Ayers, have you changed your mind from celebrating Labour getting in in 2015 and have just become a UKIP supporter?

no themover im just saying they've done well to raise the issue
just checking before labour in 97 was when the floodgates were opened and set a precendent |

it would have happened regardless whether it was Labour or Conservative, they decided that amongst themselves without so much as a referendum...both I seem to recall supported a referendum at one point or another but funnily enough there hasn't been one to this day, in a supposedly democratic country. As usual in the elections those that have historically voted Tory will vote Tory to keep Labour out and historical Labour supporters will vote Labour to keep the Tories out. Whether or not they are both sh1t makes no difference in todays politics

Ayers -- I think it's over 800k empty homes and 400k empty commercial properties that could be suitably turned into housing. (something on the bcc I read awhile back). So that's 1.2million right off the bat!
|

You say there are 5m on council waiting list. There are also officially 5m people not born in the UK. I'd suggest there's a far simpler/cheaper option. If the government did go on a building spree and provide loads of cheap to rent property how many would be queuing to get in ?. Where would you build all these new homes ?. A large number of county councils are being asked to propose land for new builds. Most of them would aimed at current green belt land. Minor sticking point !.Where does this spare £50bn come from ?. |
|
By:
ell, half that 40 billion would come from reclaiming all the tax avoidance and evasion money if they did their jobs properly.
and 1.2 million spare homes! wow, i didn't even know that, that is criminal |
|
By:
Same place money comes from to fund wars in the middle-east, I suppose. It gets borrowed, except this borrowed money does 1. Some social good and 2. Gets paid back (most of the people in these houses would be in work and paying the rent). Plus the money getting into the economy via builders in work and the knock-on effects of that.
Put it this way, if the political will was there, something along these lines could be done. The money would be found, like it gets found whenever we want to blow people up. A quarter of those total homes basically exist already in the form of empty commercial/residential properties. The rest would have to be built on some "un-built" land. I don't know if there's enough, but I know that the urban areas of Britain only make up a couple of percent of total land use (I know it's more complicated than that, with agriculture etc. to be taken into account). |

There ARE people out there being subsidised to have too much space, and there ARE people out there in
cramped accomodation and they should be swapped around between to suit, the Tories are right about that idea, but this current policy isn't great. "They" need to build more decent 1 person social housing. But thing is councils DO throw money at wasters. I've seen it myself, good multi bedroom properties given to 1 scumbag who wrecks the place then run away, when on the other hand decent familes out there who would love the home don't get it. Wtf? But as ever, Labour had 13 years to sort anything out, but there were no votes in that were there, yet every single problem that developed over that lengthy period is now the tories blame :) |
|
By:
For the record, I think all of the main 3 parties are rubbish. Perhaps Labour are less harsh on the poorest, but they aren't exactly champions of the poor either.
So there will be no massive program of decent council housing built. Just let the low-paid struggle on as usual, whilst their work makes the world go around. Off to bed comrades ![]() |

Withdraw from wars - save billions
Limit unskilled immigrants - save billions Close all tax loopholes - save billions cut business rate collection departments and share services instead - save billions get the american embassy to start paying the congestion charge, they've never paid it and i cant believe nothing has been done - gain millions benefit fruad - impose tough new sanctions - save billions (1.2 billion estimate per year) stop giving money to dodgy governments abroad where the way they spend/distribute it is not in our hands, although tbf india actually sent some back a year or two ago calling it peanuts - save billions.encourage online billion and direct debit and save administrative costs on handling cash and cheques - save billions stop councils having their jollies at the tax payers expense with expensive away days I want to run the country, put me in charge ![]() |

The chances of recovering a large chunk of that £40bn is almost zero and would be eroded by wages to a large extent. The money is fairly evenly split between VAT,Income Tax,NI,CGT,Corporation Tax & self assessment.Everyone will know an avoider and do nothing about it.
The 1.2m properties are largely derelict, unsuitable for occupation or for development.Local councils have the power to seize delapidated properties but it's a rare occurance. |

send all poor and unemployed abroad, perhaps some really hot place in africa where they have nothing.
this cuts down massively on benefits paid and unemployment figures. then near enough everyone is working, economy is fixed. the lazy poor then have to stop laying around in smelly vests all day drinking super tennants to actually go about providing for their families and finding food, thus improving their work ethic. simples. |

With regard to pulling out of the EU.The scary argument is always that we would lose billions in lost trade within the EU.
Now I arent an expert on Politics or economics by any means, but I thought that we were only officially signed into a Common Market & not a European Superstate.2 of the strongest economies in Europe are Switzerland & Norway & there not members, they have free trade agreements with the EU. I do not see quite what we are exporting to the likes of France & Germany to give us a trade surplus as they would have us believe.Surely it would be far more frightning to the Germans & French who would stand to lose far more in Exports to the UK.50% of all new cars are German & French. We would certainly be able to negotiate free trade while remaining outside the Euro Zone. I am sure that if Labour had got there way & we had joined the Euro we would have been 1 of the first countries to go to the wall. The only thing keeping us out of all of that at the moment is our semi independance with Sterling, interest rates etc.The only reason that we are still in business is not because we are good. It's just that we arent quite as bad as some others. With a cronic unemloyment problem. Both labour & tory policy is to create 1 new job & then welcome 2 people from the eastern europe to come here for it. The 1 & only reason for mass imigration is to undermine workers in the UK & lower labour costs etc,for the benefit of big business. Most factory & farm labour is actually paying less now than it did 15 years ago. Nobody in power ever explains how unskilled people will be able to get jobs, when all companies want to just hire foriegn labour through Agencies. It said in the papers the other day, that quite alot of large companies in the UK only recruit for workers in Poland now. They say that poor people should have smaller families, which obviously makes sense. But if thats true, then surely as this large family of Great Britain should also not be expanding the population in any way while we are in such dyre straights.Nobody will admit the actual numbers of Eastern Europeon workers that we have here at this time,But it is definately 2-3 million & rising fast. The 2-6 million unemployed would surely stand a better chance of getting back to work without that competition.Nobody should be allowed to stay on benefits for ever if capable of working. But If I was unemployed,I dont have the faintest idea of how I would find decent reasonable paid work in these times. It's scary & while we sit here & do nothing. There is only 1 way this country is heading & thats down bigstyle. Nero,Fiddled & Rome. Lunatics & Asylum etc. |

thing is at the risk of sounding half sensible, my wife and i put having our first off for a couple of years after we thought about it, because at the time we didnt feel we could afford it, we didnt feel our house was big enough to raise a family in. so we waited, saved and then had a child. we then had saved enough to move into a bigger house, where we just had our second. i dont consider myself ultra clever for thinking that way, i think its common sense, that you want to be able to provide enough for your family. whilst accepting there are genuine cases of "mistake" pregnancies where the mother genuinely has a bit of a dilemma, i think the bulk, of which i cannot stand and absolutely despise, is the culture of well i will have children, because i know the state will help me out, and i know i can then get accomodation with most if not all the costs covered.
i honestly believe this country is gone beyond any chance of recall. the 2-3m immigrants are going to have children and you cant keep building on land you just dont have, the country owes far too much money and i dont see that ever being repaid, and i think it is going to be harder and harder for the tories to get into government on their own as time goes on, because i think the numbers of working class will increase as will the numbers of people with fragile financial circumstances. the tory captive audience is shrinking day by day. sad to say i dont feel "proud to be british" any more, i think we are an utter shambles and treat our own disgustingly. what chance have we got when we cant even deport abu qatada ffs. |

Wise words Addy.
But the scary thing is that all of the stuff that we give up for Austerity will never be returned regardless of any recovery if that ever happens. I just think that if you dont have enough cake, the last thing you do is invite more People to the party. |

I don't have a political sway but it is obvious to an idiot that we are in this mess because Labour were happy to reward recklesness with free handouts. that said I do not think the new systems are that well thought out. One rule i would implement is the inability to gamble if you are receiving state benefits ![]() |

immigration helped the tories with their hands in so many pies.
eastern europeans lowered the average wage and upped the output. they have maxed out any benefit from that now and there is no where else left to turn. unless they fund growth in the economy we are in serious sh1t. its gonna cost so they dont want to even risk being blamed for increasing the debt for future elections. it suits them to make cuts as it doesnt affect the rich in the same way. time for a revolution me thinks. the rich started this ...bankers gambling for their bonuses. teachers strikes are coming post office workers strikes are happening posties will be going to war very soon. come on Britain show some bawls and stand up for your rights. |
|
By:
and lets get one thing straight.
yes labour did increase spending....we could afford it though. the real problem was traders and bankers gambling to make BIGGER BONUSES. spending was not the cause. |
|
By:
"it suits them to make cuts as it doesnt affect the rich in the same way"
What cuts? The welfare bill is going up not down, and we still spend £108billion more each year then we collect. These are not cuts. |

all tory governments hate the working class but this bunch of old etonian millionaires is the most vindictive ever.i know genuine people who are crying out for jobs, where are they, people who have worked all their lives trying to exist on 70 quid a week and being labelled as scum and scroungers by people who are just bloody lucky that their jobs are safe, maybe if it happened to them and it could do,they would change their minds.the problem in this country is that wages are pitiful.skilled men are working for about 6 quid an hour, you'll all be better off working they say,all we work for is to try and pay our ever increasing bills.inflation is far above the official figure, rents rise by massive amounts every year and don't get me on about energy bills.get after the philip greens and lord ashcrofts of this country and stop being swayed by the tory scum newspapers which are run by the likes of murdoch.the suicide rate and criminal activities such as shoplifting will go through the roof as people try to survive, but cant see that been on camerons and cleggs conscience.

You do realise government spending has increased each year under this government, we will be spending around 120 billion more than we get in tax. Cuts my arse. |

tell that to the unemployed who cant get jobs because there arent enough.
cuts for the poor ta reduction for the rich. thats where the increases are ffs dont worry though the cwu are gonna start the fightback |
