There are as many losers as winners. But equally there are as many winners as losers.

its not in betfairs intrests to have the site crash, mainly the people moaning are the ones that have lost so if they had closed their bets that wouldve of been more commision for betfair

lmfao......I have other accounts but I do not trade them at the same time just in case a site goes down. I expect a level of service. Tonight, that service wasn't met. It happens. Businesses then pay the customer for loss of service. Simples. I am not looking for bets to be void, just to understand how much, and when, I will be receiving compensation for loss of service whilst in a clearly Open Trading Position........

I do however agree that it is the customers choice as to which site they sign up to.  I guess it's not life or death in this particular field.  If a doctor makes a gross error which leads to a patient dying, there get out clause would be to sign up to another doctor as a back up!

This is the best point all night, Betfair should be offering compensation to all losing customers.

When the stock exchange goes down they follow complex rules to ensure people do not benefit. When world events happen, trading gets banned. When a company stock is trading weirdly it is suspended and all previous transactions are reviewed.

Betfair is no where near FTSE or NYSE and I do not expect them to be....

This is also in the T&C

Cancellation, Termination, Suspension and Breach

We may restrict your access to Betfair, suspend or terminate your account, withdraw your offers for bets, void any bets outstanding to your account, cancel any unmatched bets or cancel and void any outstanding or matched bets in our absolute discretion without cause at any time including if:

T&Cs therefore do not match what they are advertising, business wise not morally. This is a business issue. Betfair advertise the ability to trade, people put money into Betfair on the back of it, Betfair fails - Betfair fault not customer

Seems like they can do anything they want because it is in their T&C.  So they can withdraw all winning bets if they want.

'may'.....and they are referring to different situations not ones such as this. An example being when they suspended the barca-celtic game late after the goal a couple of weeks back. They're just covering all angles.

Seen this somewhere as well. The outtage was a significant one, not a couple of minutes or someone forgetting to unsuspend the market.

Betfair should use absolute discretion in this situation.

I struck a couple of bets on the football. I wasn't looking to trade and they both won. I would be p*ssed off if they were voided because some others put on losing bets.

I don't want Betfair to punish the winners.  They should however compensate the losers.

They only have two options. Void all bets (dont support this myself) or compensate those who were left exposed.

Anybody watched Shawshank Redemption when he writes to the prison service each week to try and get a library.  I'll be emailng Betfair every day until I get a response and compensation.  They will either respond or ban me from the site.

I 100% agree with this. And I haven't even lost a penny on tonight's outage but firmly believe that Betfair should remunerate those who lost out for Betfair's mistake without punishing the winners.

Probably wisewords, but that's not a good enough customer service. These kind of errors happen too often and it's always the customer who loses out.

Darlo.. how do you decide who to refund? Do you refund the Liverpool backers?? Why? We couldn't see into the future.. Liverpool could have won 3-1...

By:

Nobody gets refunded for inplay issues. When the data feeds went down last month and I coudn't trade out, they didn't refund me. How is this situation any different?

That's a fair point but the whole point of Betfair is that people can trade - jeez, they've gone way over the top with the Cash Out function - and that ability was not available. Not because of the customers' fault but Betfair's.

in my understanding her in this situation there was nobody who get any benefit of that situation, marked wasnt available for both parties , people who won would won same amout of money anyways

but i agree about standards towards costumers , bigger problem is betfair is dominating this market so much that is almost like monopolist so dont care about standards  people wont go away and stop trading gambling either

No. I emailed them over 15 times and they would not refund me anything. I was asking for my stake back and they would not budge one bit.
