"Please be aware that if you place a bet with the intention of subsequently placing a separate bet to reduce the liability incurred by the initial bet, there can never be a guarantee that the Services will be available at the point you wish to place the subsequent bet (this is the case regardless of whether or not the unavailability of the Services is due to a matter beyond our reasonable control)."Please be aware that if you place a bet and intend to trade out later, if the site goes down and it's our fault we are not responsible, your bet won't be voided and you won't get a penny back so please don't bother asking. We however will still take commission from the person who won the other half of your bet so we don't lose out. Have a good evening, we will.

Indeed. I've lost out because they forgot to put a market in-play, I've lost out because they forgot to suspend a market after a goal in time, I've lost out because they left a horse race pre-play too long. All bets voided, even when all bets were squared up before any problem.

Betfair need to realise that punters use Betfair for betting on the entire event, not just half of it. If any part of a market fails, they should void the whole lot. And maybe then, when they lose out on commission, they may sit up and take notice. Then again, that'd be like turkeys voting for Christmas.

You would give Customer Service 10/10?!

I would give it 2, plus 1 for BCM2 and 1 for the rare helpful person on the helpdesk.

So i guess the key phrase is..."our reasonable control". Who can tell if what's happened is BEYOND their reasonable control? Cause "control" its not only what you do, but also what you don't do.
It points out to a legal dispute about the meaning of the words.

you'd have to be able to spell to take the legal option.

Your IQ tells me that you cant accept the fact that not all people are born in England or what so ever...(thank God). And ofc not all people know to speak/write English so fluently as you.

I have been reading all these comments now for some time. I've seen a lot of disgruntlement, mediators and gloaters. The latter I do find despicable. I have had my fingers burnt many times with Betfair failures. Either with a system crash or unable to receive live feeds on in-play markets and so forth suspend the markets. Very, very annoying as I do like to trade.

The point I want to make here is that Betfair must come up with a compromise for both traders and people who just like to bet once, like with a bookmaker, but with the advantage of also laying a selection. My compromise would be that Betfair offers two platforms, one for traders and one for the 'one bettors'.

I believe there are more traders here than just the 'one bettors'. Anyone who uses Betfair should understand how the site works. If every bettor in the country understood how Betfair works then I believe (my own personal view) most bookmakers wouldn't be here now.
Why? Much better prices here. Most people who use bookmakers don't understand trading. My point here being that most people who use Betfair are traders, so why should traders suffer losses over the 'one bettors'. Two different platforms I believe is the compromise Betfair has been looking for. And I believe, and many of you I hope, know which platform will attract the most liquidity. If there was ever a **** up like tonight, the traders platform would void all bets leaving the 'one bettors' happy knowing their bets were safe.

Come on Betfair. Time to wake up. Don't become a liability to yourself.
