What was wrong with his performance?
Torres wasn't touched and he knew he dived - you could see his reaction. He didnt even protest.

And as for the winning goal it was the linesmans error.

CORRECT

Mr eboue I think everybody must now realise clattenburg actually called the decisions correctly. At the time though you can understand Chelsea feeling a little hard done by. No excuse for their behaviour 2 days and counting later though. It's a disgrace they should bow their heads and apologise or be docked points, it's slanderous how they are acting

Exactly smiffy.

Clattenburg was not at fault for hernandez' winner. The linesman was although it happened so quickly there is not a human on earth that could have been so sure of that decision.

Every team gets bad decisions.

every journo, pundit, in fact anybody who has the slightest clue about the game acknowledges that clattenberg made an error in the way he handled the torres/evans situation.

but it wont stop some of the sharp minds on here giving firthLaugh

Torres shouldn't of been on the pitch to get a second yellow card. He should have seen red in the first.

Eboube one would have thought your only concern would have been the thought Mikel may have been racially abused by a white referee?

And you can decide on the balance of probability,if you wish.

eboue

i reckon if you look cfc [or the vast majority of their fans] aren't discussing the match decisions.

they are discussing things that modern society seems to take far more seriously.

I can't believe we are not all on the same side here, we all want diving stamped out of the game, if Ferdinand isn't getting to the ball before Torres he rides the challenge, no doubt in my mind about it. It's a dive he was on thin ice. It was a brave decision that mc deserved praise from every corner for. Instead he gets slaughtered and now accused of the race card. It's disgusting if I was a Chelsea fan I'd be cringing at my club right now.

you can't believe we're not on the same side???????????

i hate diving, in exactly the same way as i hate referees allowing blocking that under the obstruction law [if applied] would be a free kick.

in the same way that i hate holding at set pieces.

but that argument was lost years ago.

in the modern game refs administer that kind of challenge as a foul, and only book players for diving where there's no contact.

clatt thought he'd dived as he didn't see the contact, if he'd seen it he would have given chelsea a free kick and evans some sort of card

I have never, ever made a racist comment on here chief.

Also 'Spanish tw@t' is not racist.

Its xenophobic.

He called it right mex, Torres dived because Ferdinand had the situation covered he skips the challenge otherwise. The contact doesn't bring him down, as evens said" I thought he kicked me" 110mt hurdles clip nearly every hurdle. Torres knew what he was doing it was trademark

he didn't call it right the way refs administer the game nowadays, 10 years ago i'd agree with you.

do you not think it's strange that you're out of step with every journo/pundit.

Not at all, the media don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. That's a very naive comment to make tbh Mexicano. Make up your own mind the facts are out there you can watch it over and over again on YouTube.

I think it was a harsh second yellow but I don't think it was as cut and dried as some are making out and quite why Torres is rubbing his leg where he is I'm not sure.

Perhaps he's been a victim of the flurry of diving incidents at Stamford Bridge this season.

The focus should be on the constant cheating by players and their management encouraging this in the name of professionalism instead of hounding referees who have tremendously hard job to begin with. Chelsea do seem to be trying to repay the game after they way Terry was hounded by the FA and the media. Where does it stop ?

i made up my own mind, and quite frankly anybody who calls that a dive nowadays is out of touch with the way the games played nowadays.

you can hark as much as you like about the way you'd prefer games to be officiated. but they set the agenda, and as such consistency is the best you can hope for.

i will repeat.

anybody who thinks that torres should have been pulled up for a dive is out of touch with the modern game.

Although I find your point ridicules Mexicano, you are basically saying that sort of dive is acceptable yes? Then clattenburg making a stand against it is a good thing a brave thing and he should be praised for it.
I repeat Chelsea should hang their heads in disgrace and apologise sooner rather than later

that's where we part company smiffy

as i said i don't like diving, but i go to football matches every week, i observe thw way referees administer the game..they ignore the obstruction law.

they ignore the law re holding [especially at set pieces.

players only get booked for diving if no contact has been made.

anybody who dosen't realise this  is either totally out of touch, or at the wind up.

either way i don't see a lot of future in me debating this so i'll take my leave of you and peas off to the couch to watch the footballLaugh

mexicano: clatt thought he'd dived as he didn't see the contact, if he'd seen it he would have given chelsea a free kick and evans some sort of card

correction, mexicano:

1. Clatt SAW he dived, not THOUGHT he dived.

2. The 'contact' was irrelevant because:

a:  Football is a contact sport (don't know if you realise that) and you are allowed to make contact with an opponent.
b:  The 'contact' was in any case insufficient to cause Torres to fall to the floor screaming.  In other words he dived.

3. He saw exactly what happened and punished the offender.

verdict:

Well done Mr Clattenburg.
