"After England scored their second goal their players went off to celebrate. They have no supporters in the ground so clearly they were going to be celebrating in front of some Serbia fans. Those fans took exception.
"Danny Rose got separated from the group and then he clearly got involved in a slanging match with some spectators. He felt he was being racially abused and there was stuff being thrown at him. Then some of the Serbian players and staff piled in - they didn't like Rose having a go at their fans. Then it turned into a mass brawl. "England very sensibly tried to get off the pitch as quickly as they could. Danny Rose was actually sent off and as he left the pitch he was mimicking a monkey by sticking his arms underneath his armpits. He was very clearly making the point that it was very clever, this racial abuse. "We are going to see quite how hard, or not, Uefa come down on this. I have never seen anything quite like that." |

I did not see the game, when they scored did they actually go towards the Serbians, or were they well away?

I thought this would be a thread about Ireland.
Danny Rose - lol. Been at Sunderland two minutes, and getting himself excited at playing overseas. There'll be hell on if his Mother dare show her face at the SOL. |

Serbia are about 30 years behind England when it comes to racism/stamping it out. I'm sure the majority of England players would have known or been told that and for them to rise to the bait was stupid along with Danny rose's behaviour which just incensed the opposition players/supporters even more.

It's easy to be holier than thou about this. Serbia, in common with lots of E European lands, has no history of coloured immigration. GB has of course, thanks to the jolly old empire. |

Maybe Clark Carlisle and his cronies can go over to Serbia and Kick Racism out, makes a mockery of the name calling shenanigans that they claim is a huge problem in England.

yep, i wonder if him or john barnes will be commenting on it ?

I wasn't being "holier than thou" I was just stating a fact, the England players are in my view as much to blame for their behaviour by their over reaction. |

David James has it spot on:
David James, one of England's most decorated black footballers, last night accused anti-racism groups of having "an agenda to keep themselves in existence". The goalkeeper, capped 53 times by England and still playing at the age of 42 for Bournemouth in League One, added: "I think the organisations which have done so much good [combating racism] on the terraces are still employed looking for stuff to be shouted about. I think that some people have an agenda to keep themselves in existence. I struggle with the racist issue in football because as a player I don't see it. That's not because I've got my head in the sand. In the earlier days, yes, but the game's changed. It is not what it was. I don't believe it is any more racist than society is." James did not name any organisation, but was almost certainly talking about Kick It Out, the anti-racism organisation dedicated to eradicating racism in football. He added: "There are some wonderful organisations out there which have helped football become a much more enjoyable game for everyone, from stuff in the crowd being aimed at players – that's gone, or pretty much gone. I don't hear it any more. I don't look at myself as any different from the guy who gets changed next to me, and I'm not going to fly anyone's flag in order to join some 'gang', which doesn't need to be joined." James stressed it was right for John Terry to be punished over the racist language he directed at Anton Ferdinand, but felt the Football Association should have acted without waiting for the police investigation to be completed. "The JT thing, it should be dealt with – if someone said that in the stand they would be ejected – but it could've been dealt with quietly and done rather than it being a six- or eight-month thing. It was allowed to fester. The governing body should have said, 'An incident has taken place, racism occurred on a football pitch.' They should have dealt with it there and then. Whether he is or isn't racist, he used language on a football field which should not have been used and that should have been dealt with." James, who wants to become a manager and is doing his coaching courses, also said he did not believe the shortage of black managers was down to racism. "I think it is whether you are good enough. Look at Chris Hughton, he's managed three clubs and been decent, there have been others who weren't good enough." James echoed the words in The Independent last week of Keith Curle, the manager of Notts County and one of only four black managers in the professional game. "I have not seen many ethnic players on the courses I have been on in the last two years. If you want to become a manager, then give yourself a chance. If you don't want to go on the courses, then moan about not getting jobs, well, probably the reason you haven't got a job is you haven't been on the courses." |

Solano, the thread provider is using his hatred of Gypsies, which he knows is okay throughout Europe, to make a point about racism against a nation of gadje.

Doing The Funky Gibbon to the fans was not a smart move. |

I just read that Danny Rose is related to Wolves legend Mark Rankine
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Let's hear no more bad things about the lad. |

Rose was sent off but presume the referee is a racist.
Trying to provoke home fans is also perfectly acceptable as is calling Serbs all sorts of vile names but then you are allowed be racist against Serbs. |
|
By:
It is not often the England team give us cause to be so proud....
Nice one Danny Rose, and for what I can make out of the youtube video... well done Marvin Sordell, Tom Lees and Raheem Stirling. Two World Wars- a history of confonting fascists. |
|
By:
Equating a footballer getting sent off to the magnificent achievements of the British armed forces in two World Wars is an insult to all who have served in the British army.
The man behaves like a thug and you are proud of him, strange very strange. |
|
By:
How did he behave like a thug?
got a second yellow for over exhuberantly kicking the ball into the crowd after the winning goal. i would suggest the thugs were the throwbacks in the stand making monkey noises and the Serbian staff who turned a delicate situation into an all out brawl. |
|
By:
He should not have gone over taunting the Serb fans,he should not have further provoked them by kicking the ball at them in obvious temper.
