first bet is a bit bigger than 1.1 but i think its a great bet and it is as follows. Michael Russell to beat Kuznetsov Match Odds

1.43

£12.98
played each other nine times russel won 9 times, good enough for me!

Has nobody ever thought of laying these 1.1 bets? If you all say its virtually impossible then lay them. Obviously you'd only win one of your original stake when you eventually got one correct, ie £10, if you compound your lay liability. I just did a simple spreadsheet and worked out that your total lay liabilities up to 25 lays would be £98 + some pence. But seeing as very few people make it that far then this seems an idea. you could easily do this in a few days. Start with £10 profit every few days. You'll soon be laying to a backers stake much much bigger. ????? Any thoughts?

I dunno - if I'm doing a challenge then I don't go out of my way to pick something I think has a chance of winning, I go for something that looks like a certainty. It's all about managing to spot when 1.10 should be around the 1.04 mark.

I see what you're saying and when I lump on short odds and it goes belly up then I think about doing the same! I just don't like losing bets and even though it would be a cheap lay it would all add up over time, it'd be like winning a tenner on the lottery after playing it all year.

It's definitely worth equal consideration. Explain the £98 to me, though. If you layed at odds of 1/10 twenty five times, your total liability would be £25?

well not really because youd win a tenner every couple of days. i do see peoples scepticism as you'd be pretty ****ed off if you did hit that run of 50 when on the lay side, but ive not seen many (in fact maybe 1 or 2) that have got to the 50 in a row mark.

After losing £160 on the Dudelange-Salzburg game I don't really want to look at my P&L for today but basic maths tell me:

1. Partizan Belgrade to beat Valletta £10 at 1.31
     Valletta 1 Partizan 4
     New Bank: £12.95

dreambrother09, im on about compounding you lay liability so as when you win you make the original back stake as profit. otherwise if you were to lay 1/10 15 times then one won you still be £5 down.

I agree with milla! Its probably profitable over time to lay 1.1s but it isn't really enjoyable and its not guaranteed profit. Its hard to find more than 1 or 2 dodgy 1.1 shots a day so you'd just have to lay every one that you saw in my opinion and it would be profitable over time but not mind blowing! This is just a challenge to back 74 successful ones in a row. With patience and a bit of luck its definitely possible without a doubt. And I liked the way you said you lost £160 and then boasted your £2 profit hahaha!!

Very savvy.

I mean, 1/10s can't win forever, so in theory, if you have enough balance to cover a long losing run and keep laying, you will eventually, at worst, break even.
By:
Gooner4Life
When: 17 Jul 12 21:46
I think its only worth laying really short odds if you will lay in the thousands, then you can be patient because one hit and you are laughing!
By:
Gooner4Life
When: 17 Jul 12 21:47
Yeah definitely, I suppose you could do that but I get too bored with it.
By:

When: 17 Jul 12 21:49
That's the key isn't it? All the best strategies take a lot of patience unless you get lucky.
By:

When: 17 Jul 12 21:50
i worked it out in excel that even if it took 50 attempts for one lay to win youd only need just over a grand. but when you think that that'd be just to win a tenner it seems pointless. i was just thinking outside the box. because every time i read one of these challenges everyone goes bust eventually. so why not be on the lay side when it does.
By:
addrian
When: 17 Jul 12 21:50
you could lay some 1.01-1,05 shots like the under 6,5 goals...u lay everytime for 100 lets say at 1,05..so u have to hit one from 19 to break even...but also u could do some trading..its definetely working but its no fun imo..to lose 15 bets in the row

Yeah you would definitely break even or turn or small profit over time. You'd go on very bad run and you might win 2 or maybe 3 in a row in good runs. But to me unless you are laying for stakes of £50+ at these short odds its really not worth it. Patience is the key to profits and discipline but this is just a all in challenge.

I'll keep my eye on that Brazilian game addrian, good luck!
You're backing at around over 1.3!
Trying to get it over and done with quickly? lol!

Yeah agreed Joinville should definitely win this game and I see what you mean about that team and they are the team to be on for goals!
Good luck to both of you!
Im finding it hard to stick to my one a day but succeeding at the moment :P.

With this (or any) kind of challenge, would you be better off waiting for the football season to start? In total, there are 380 Premier League games each season. For this challenge, you'd need to pick a 1.1 shot for 1 in every 5 league games over the whole season.

Depending on commission, 51-ish to get 10k - no idea what purple charges though, working done with 5%.

Figures might be wrong, just knocked up an extremely rudimentary Excel sheet - and I've had a few vinos.

My sheet actually makes it 77 to 10k but the principle is the same, it's getting up from £10 in the first place - the rest is the easy part Laugh

Regardless of where you want to start from and whether you back bigger odds sometimes the principle is the the same :).

Bet 2:
I'm going for A.E.L to beat Linfield.
If they can draw with APOEL Nicosia (Champions League Quarter Finalists) they should destroy Linfield at home!

Had my bet for Day 2 all lined up, o1.5 in ASA v Ciricuma - counting down, suspend, goal. Bah.

Plan B is:

2. Home United to beat Geyland Utd £12.95 at 1.17

Tempted by AEL, but I'll be able to follow the Home Utd game in-play without distraction.
