I agree 3 yearold form is of little relevance
For me the key is Barca's away form cos most agree they are the best side on the planet at home, well they have won 10/17 in La Liga which suggests that if Chelsea are on a par with most Spanish sides the price at 1.73 is about right. If however you view that Chelsea at the moment are a cut above the better Spanish sides, Bilbao, Atletico etc then the 5.4 is probably a bit of value, but not huge. If there is an early goal then £20 on Chelsea 3-2 at 55 is a pretty nice way to retain the interest with a little trade if the goals do start flying in |

I find some of these comments quite amazing. Barcelona would win 90% at Chelsea, they cannot achieve against Liga weak teams

If we all had the same opinion on the outcome of games then betfair wouldnt exist, it would have gone bust a long time ago. Thats the great thing about this, and often the best value is going against the general consensus.
After thinking about it, there is definitely no value at all in backing Barcelona at odds on tonight, EVS or better you could say fair enough. But as I said there will be plenty who disagree and pile in. The problem is that Chelsea and their fans will be incredibly up for it (champions league semi final we are talking about here) and Barcelona will be happy enough to go back to Camp Nou after getting a draw at stamford bridge, so its not a game to go 'full bank' on even if you do fancy barcelona. I am a huge fan of barcelona, and I think the most likely outcome is a narrow barcelona win or a draw but as mentioned would want EVS or better here. |

Chelsea 3/1 draw no bet.

like you say barca away 10/17 in la liga chelsea away in epl are 6/17 but they have improved since di matteo took over, barca beat bayer 3-1 away drew 0-0 ac milan and beat them 3-2 away.chelsea beat napoli, benfica and valencia at home,so i would still say chelsea are a value bet to win

Chelsea is the worse team in this champions leage from the 8th final
Barca is the best team in the world the "way of no play" of Chelsea is a perfect way for Barca to win Milan Arsenal have a great CounterAttack play Chelsea have only body power!!! the only thing that Barca needs is a good field u will see tonight Barca how easly win p.s. i'm not Barca supporter |

i dont think you ll be satisfied until Barcelona do the decent thing and return the two European Cups they won completely undeservedly |
|

They certainly cheated Chelsea out of a CL final, surely no one can deny that?
|
|
By:
hi, Barcelona will win tonight. they are a better side in every line and if it wasnt for Benfica, Chelsea wouldnt have make it through.
scoreline will be 1-3 to Barcelona and half time / full time will be Barcelona/Barcelona. P.S. the final will be Bayern - Barcelona and the Germans will win it. |

Heard tonights ref is for Catalan and has a soon that plays in Spain to! Will he allows anything but a Barca win tonight.

Barca price is short for sure, but people are thinking that Barca and Chelsea are the same teams they were back when Chelsea troubled them time after time

I was very confident in my bet, now that I've seen Lee Dixon fancies Barca I'm not so sure.

I don't understand the correct score market at all.
The match odds have Barca winning at a canter, but have 0-1 priced as low as 8.4. The two aren't compatible at all. The probability of BOTH Chelsea NOT scoring AND Barca being held to ONLY one goal, must be lower chance than those odds say, surely? If 0-1 is that likely, then surely Chelsea or the draw ought to be shorter than they are. |
|
By:
...the match odds have barcelona winning. 1/2 or lower would be winning at a canter??
|
|
By:
I think it could be a low scoring affair.
I can't pick a winner, so might just take unders at 11/10. |
|
By:
aaronh, what else would you call 3 stonewall penalties not given by a very suspect referee? Come on think about it, who has most to gain from those decisions?
|
|
By:
I would call that the referee making "bad" decisions, not Barca cheating

Highlander - referees cost Barcelona in a tie at Stamford Bridge a few years before 2009, Chelsea progressed then and Barcelona went out.
So it is one all in terms of referee decisions costing Barca and Chelsea. |
|

Chelsea smashed Spurs, as we are playing like a pub team at the minute. But this doesn't change the fact that Chelsea are very ordinary. Where will they threaten Barca? I just don't see it -- unless Guardiola picks a lesser XI with the weekend in mind. If they have a full team out, then they will win comfortably.
|
|
By:
Come on 3 yes 3 stonewall pens turned down. That's not a mistake, that's not incompetence. That's something else. When have you ever seen a home side in Europe not getting at least 1 of 3 stonewall pens? The answer is only once.

Do you honestly think Barcelona are going to bust a gut to win this match? I cant see it. I think they will play a more low tempo containing cagey kind of game. I'm not saying they wont attack but it wont be the all out Barca attack that you are used to. I think Barca will happily settle for a draw or a narrow defeat.
|
|
By:
Highlander - what about the two stonewall penalties that Barcelona did not get against Milan in the last round?
Or the two stonewall penalties and goal dissalowed for no reason against Inter in 2010? Or the offside goal and the stonewall penalty in the first leg of Inter tie that year? Or the foul Collina ignored on Valded when Terry scored the winner in 2005, before turning down a stone wall penalty on Etoo. Barcelona have had plenty of games when decisions have gone against them. Get a grip and stop being so biased. |
|
By:
I hardly think Barca "will happily settle for a draw or narrow defeat".
Personally I think Barca will win a close game. Im not getting involved but will watch and see what happens |
|
By:
think the play here is to lay barca if they score first. they often ease up after getting the away goal in the first leg and would certainly be happy with a score draw

Anyone thinking that Pep will field a "weaker" team thinking about the weekend is clearly a MUG.
With Messi, Iniesta and Xavi in the starting 11 he can pretty much improvise the rest and get a result. Alexis+Tello would be my choise up front with Messi, but Cesc and Pedro/Cuenca would also work. In midfield, Keita would cope well as CDM tonight, but maybe Busquets will be his choice. Same difference. In defense he has less to pick amongst. I would play Alves-Pique-Macherano-Puyol, but if he wanted to rest old boy puyol, Adriano could play LB, or if he wants to rest Pique due to recent injury recoving, he would play Busquets CB instead. The joys of Barça. ![]() |

just read this on twitter - Torres, Drogba, Sturridge, Lampard, Mata and Kalou have scored 63 goals between them this season. Lionel Messi has scored 63 by himself.

I do agree with highlander 3 definate pens hit the post 3 times and the bar,2 50/50 penalty appeals, then mesi has his only shot on goal after 128 mins of play 8 mins of added on time i wonder if it would have gone into double figures if they hadnt scored ??,and that **** Andy(you cant find a more biased scotsman)Grey saying thats why barca are so fantastic. If that was an english team playing rubish negative football like they did he would have slated them for winning.Go on you blues we keep em out tonight and score the away goal and dump uefas preferred team out..
|
|
By:
jamdav, my point is that Barca seem to get the help from ref's when they really need it. In the 2nd legs, when it looks like they might go out, players mysteriously get sent off for no real reason, penalties are refused and pens are given for nothing much.

The most sensible and impartial thing ive read during the whole build up of this game! Barça dont know how to defend a result, they play the same 0-0, 1-0 or 5-0. Thus its fair to say they could well concede if they go a goal up (green up IMMEDIATLY after Chelski score of course!!). Excellent trading strategy. |
