By:
the thing about gambling and why people lose alot of money is not because making money is hard but when a person loses a bet they cant handle it and they go crazy with their next bet and stick the lot on something silly......! Then the regret it and start again........ Correct?

Making money on betfair is the easiest thing in the world............ correct? That is not where people fail on betfair. People fail on betfair because they cant handle a tiny tiny loss even though they are in profit for the day/week/month. Am i right or am i wrong? If this doesnt apply to anyone on here then they should give up betfair ASAP.
By:
if u can handle not to bet when there is nothing good to bet, u can make profit. People fail in betfair in bet selection, not only chasing looses.

yes there would be a lot of people who lose perspective i.e. if you've had a good week, doesnt matter if youre last bet lost
By:
@HUDM - im not teaching anyone on here 'how to make money'... im not giving anyone tips on what to do on a game. Im talking about MONEY MANAGEMENT! That is what betfair is about... MONEY MANAGEMENT..........
By:
TSO is correct.
Is picking winners hard? No it isn't. But is maintaining your equilibrium when things don't go according to plan? |

thank you Freddiek, thank you Dave. Two people who understand the concept.......

The holy grail has been found, Im taking notes!

that's bang on the money TSO. I doubt mnay will come clean and agree with you. I am sure almost everyone on here has chased a losing bet and lost again. You learn with experience. I have quadrupled my bank in three weeks. Early days it was tragic the mess I was getting into!

You should have NO emotion towards selections win or lose...

No amount of money management will make 1pence per month profit if there is no EDGE in the betting. What is your proposed edge? |
By:
indeed it is correct because ive been on betfair for years and my problem when i started was chasing money. I wont go into detail but in the past ive lost 50-150k on on weekend due to chasing.....! But that is another story... the point is ive learnt from bad experiences
By:
Well MR Angry.... do you think you need an 'edge' to make money on betfair?
By:
You should have NO emotion towards selections win or lose...
Why not? What difference does emotion make towards a result? |
By:
Depends how many markets you can be in and % of edge
1000 markets amonth, risking 3% of capital (£600) per market (so you are never higher than £600 red in any market you trade) . 10% edge = 10% profit on stakes (£60) per market = £60,000 profit. 3% risked per market = too high IMO 10% edge in trading = unrealistic to say the least. So the answer is , no, frankly. You might do it one month, but betting a high % you would have a terrible run before long and probably not possible to average 10% return per market long term. |
By:
Well MR Angry.... do you think you need an 'edge' to make money on betfair?
Yes. You win some you lose some. Your profitability is your edge. |
By:
fair enough you want some pro's on here for your fishing project. not mugs like me

Emotions get in the way..tradings a business Mr.Angry
By:
@tobermory - i disagree with that statement entirely because if you manage your money properly and have a terribble run, it wont hurt you

@Mr Angry - i agree. Profitability is your edge, which is the point. I think the biggest edge is discipline

Be very careful with your money. Bet on Roullette - keep the stakes at 1% of your bank. Keep to the plan. Handle the losses. Money management is key. How long until broke? |
By:
tso how did u keep going after you had those big losses in a short space of time?
