Boing, you can't do that. By the time the horse is trading at 1.02 and you submit your bet it will not get matched most of the times, and if you submit your bet before the horse reaches 1.02 you will be matched at whatever price it is trading at the moment (higher price = higher risk of it losing).

Tez, I think you are asking too much when scalping 4 ticks. You will get caught sooner or later. Just a thought.

Elis, agreed, it could be fun, but I would restart with 50 when I reach 100. You know it is nearly impossible to do the 365 winning bets.

boing , you could put up a lay at 1.02,  but if it gets matched youve most certain lost ,

where has the original OP gone ? Good luck btw but it will all end in tears when 'The one that got away' SUSPENDS as soon as you put the bet on and then SUSPENDS again just as opened again

Agree with Zipifried, this will be great while it lasts but you will hit a game that has a goal as soon as you submit your bet sooner or later

I'm afraid I'm another one to p1$$ on the parade.

I genuinely genuinely hope that everyone makes a fortune here but this is not the holy grail.

As long as when you lose on the 80th/90th/100th bet you can handle the loss of the money you've accumulated then no worries.

All you are doing essentially is betting in slow motion. It's like a very long winded accumulator.

If someone gave you a coupon with a thousand matches that kicked off tomorrow and they were all 1.02 shots and you had to pick 365 from them, would you hand over £50 for a gamble that would be settled tomorrow?

That is what you are doing long term, when it goes tits up you'll be wishing you'd spent the time swotting up how to make real money *trading*

Definitely, odds suggest it should have happened already, so quit while you're ahead, you are diverted from your initial strategy, you should rather focus on findint 1.02 or whatever, but trading all in every time will never last for 300 bets, it's impossible

Are you talking about the 1.02 all in, or the back-lay after a goal for 4 ticks??

Nothing is impossible, but I'm not a fan. You need a plan if you are to make money long term.

The problem when you get to 1.02 bets and determining whether it is value or not (which I doubt anyone is actually doing) is that when you go a notch either way (1.01 or 1.03) the percentage differential between the three notches in the scheme of things is quite radical long term. It is possibly the most difficult thing to work out value wise, if something has a 97,98 or 99% chance of happening! You are better off looking for anomolies elsewhere with which a bit of research will help you make long term profits trading instead.

Surely the plan here from TOTGA is to back 1.02s which she feels are "safe"?  Sounds quite reasonable to me.

Trader, I don't as a rule do much in-play betting with the exception of finding high 0-0 odds and low X odds in which I'd back the 0-0 at 20+ and lay X @ -3.55 and wait for a goal.

Other than that I'm a "before a ball is kicked" trader.

That's for us all to decide, individually.  It's the skill that separates the winners from the rest.

Yes the OP's plan to back 1.02 'safe' bets could have some legs in it.

But Tez82's strategy of backing and then quickly greening will see him come unstuck soon enough though. i'm actually quite surprised he's hit 45 bets already without a goal going in within a minute or 2 of him pressing submit.

Rat,

I take it you scalp markets befor ko, like under 2.5 and match odds. I found it quite difficult since the cross bet matching was introduced. It is a pain. Gone are the days of good and fair unders trades.

biscuit that has already happened to tez, it happened in yesterdays fa cup tie. he managed to green once the odds dropped, and then another 2 goals went in. lucky escape. the thing is he isnt being greedy he is just taking a small %

Tez got hit again today in the stuttgart game. He greened out later when the odds dropped. He is going for 4 ticks, which I told him I find too much.
Also, his strategy will not last long if he doesnt restart after he reaches 100.

i do what tez does but on a smaller scale, you can get out of games where a goal is scored quite easily for a 20% red if you pick the right market to trade on, unless theres 2 or 3 within a matter of minutes obviously. i just wish i had more money to make more money, but i might aswell become a master while im building my bank

Mr Angry - Good luck.

Trader. Scalp yes. I deal a lot with draw odds essentially as you can put an accurate figure on the draw without the dreaded team news bombshell. There are that many markets out there that half an hours work a day should give you a market that is clearly wrong when it comes to the draw.

For example, look at countries that ship goals left right and centre like the dutch leagues, if a match from Holland has a draw trading at 3.45 there's something wrong as the 0-0 correct score odds are generally 17.0 +. You can expect goals and plenty of them and surely when goals are flowing the draw is less likely.

On the other side of the coin you look at French /Argentinian games, they frequently have draws trading around 3.1 because they are bring tw@ts and the games often yawn down to nil nils.

Before the question comes, I'd back the draw after the goal comes - 99 times out of 100 significantly higher that the odds I'd layed them for.

biscuit also 2day as soon as i placed my bet in the stuttgart game 2 goals went in in 6 mins, i still managed to trade out a profit, lucky i know but dont all bets get lucky once in a while?

its a bit of fun its a challenge, everyone is acting like im going to give up my job and its a sure fire way of making money ?? its not its just a little bit of fun. Relax people, my stake at the start was £50 if i lose then im not losing my house or anything like that so, it doesnt realy matter. im in it for the challenge. And as my bank increases then i will probably look for the straight 1.02 bets, for liquidity and safety of getting matched purposes.

It is definitely possible to tick-trade profitably, albeit with small stakes.  I used to do this and with skill it's almost risk-free.  However, that method doesn't scale; the larger the stakes you use the more exposed you are.  To make big money requires a different strategy.  However, for smaller stakes it's a useful trading method.

That's just a ridiculous sweeping statement and should be taken with a pinch of salt, in my experience.

the problem i have is i do a load of trades but as im only using small stakes the returns are quite small so i get greedy and gamble the money i made trading and lose it  Laugh  its a viscious circle. whereas if i had more money id only do 4 or 5 trades a day instead of around 20 and be very satisified with the money made

If you were to do that 365 times there is a very good chance it will fail. There are many people that set up backs at 1.01, but 1.01 can be busted and is done so surprisingly often in horse racing. Although the fact that there is serious money set up at 1.01 it must be profitable long term.

You said you scalp before ko, and then you said you back the draw after a goal is scored???

Don't tell me you use the old lay the draw system.
Ok, agreed about the dutch leagues, but still...

Fair enough lads, i think i mis-read what you're trying to do. I assumed when it went say 1-0, you were quickly backing under 1.5 (for example) and then greening out when the odds sorted themselves out. I didn't realise you were backing say under 4.5 when it was 1-0.

Trader. I scalp, I perform longer term trades and occasionally yes I do lay the draw at low odds and back the nil nil at very high odds to guard against the goalless draw with a view to green up. Either way, I make money.

You CAN'T set up backs at 1.01 unless u using some software with some trigger.
The money u see at 1.01 is money from the layers waiting for the horse to get beaten at the very last second.

quin - it's like this.

There is normally always money available on all ticks in Match Odds for a few quid.  SO if your stakes are small like this (a few pounds) it's possible to tick trade and make a few pence per trade.  Multiply by 20 and you have a few quid profit.  Multiple by 100 games per months and you have a few hundred quid (almost risk free money).  However, it takes discipline to stick to the plan.  One slip and mistake and it wipes out the profit.

On the other hand, a slip in the "good" direction (exposed on the right side of a goal) means a nice bonus.  But that then leads to temptation.  Being exposed for longer and longer means increased risk.

To use bigger stakes when the liquidity isn't in the market means you will always be exposed.  That's fine whilst there are no goals against, but leads to a false sense of security.  Suddenly you're no longer tick trading but micro-gambling.  This is a whole different skill set.

This, from first hand experience. Especially the false sense of security part.

You can make a steady profit from every game, but it just takes one slip to wipe you out. Not worth it in the long term.

Ok Rat. Fair enough.

The only thing I wouldn't do is to lay the draw with a strong fav, because, as you know, if the dog scores first then both your 0-0 bet and the X draw will be screwed.
Now, if the match is between two even teams and the 0-0 is high, then yes, I agree.
