Croydon was a good shout
when you pull into the train station there's a load of signs reading "Welcome to Croydon - home of Nestle."
If that's all it has to shout about I would keep conspicuously quiet

The Tourist Info office is to help the immigrants find the Customs and Excise Application for Visas centre - that'll be plugged at the train station next!

Wick.
It's a town stuck in the past.
That, in itself, isn't necessarily be a bad thing; but unfortunately, it opted for the Cro-Magnon era.

Lack of Milton Keynes in here. It has all the worst qualities of all the places mentioned here, combined with no history or heritage which even the worst kind of sh1tholes usually have. Awful place.

Thurso much the same.  I was in a shop there many years ago in Winter and they started to close up at 3pm.  I said "why do you shut so early", they replied "why not, no one comes out after 3pm"....really weird stuff.

I think a lot of folk watch Shameless and think it's all fantasy, but unfortunately for many up and down the country it's all too realistic and is a sad inditment of UK Govt's past and present.

If you rubbish Glasgow to a Glaswegian he will put a smile on your face no messin and an "ear to ear" one at that,Parkhead Wee Men would frighten the life out of the Taliban.

Outrageous mention of South Shields by Alex the wrinkled nob head. Out of my window I can see the glorious Tyne and Tynemouth Priory, a lighthouse and a statue of Stan Laurel on the North Shields side. Utter poppycock that it is mentioned in this thread. Try Redcar.

Central belt of Scotland.  Should be razed to the ground and turned into a park and ride for Newcastle.  Truly awful people.  Horrific.  The memory makes me shudder.  Stirling in particular.

Looks like after streaking into an early lead, Glasgow is starting to get pegged by by Liverpool and Luton.

PMSL. One direct reference to Liverpool at the time of your post and, all of a sudden, it's right up there!

Im Glaswegian and have lived in the following locations in the Uk...Glasgow..Manchester...London..

I have travelled to all the major citys across our fair lands and can categorically state that the biggest shithole I have ever encountered is London...It would have came 2nd after Glasgow in my book but the sheer volume of immigrants ruled that out...

crewe is pretty awful. and huyton in liverpool is pretty dreadful, that's where joey barton and his dreadful family come from (steven gerrard as well)

but pride of place goes to southend, which is chav city, and in particular great yarmouth, which is like an even worse version of southend.

Great Yarmouth a shocking immision imo.

A genuine $hit-house, Thetford a good call though.

If you start a thread titled the worst place in the UK you will always be guaranteed a few 100 replies. What does that say about Britain and the people on these forums? FWIW I think there are many awful places with little to choose between, but anyone who says London is an idiot, its so big and varied its like saying you don't like food because Chicken McNuggets are vile.
