OK - Here is the answer
Market Raisen is all up hill as it is a spiral. i.e. they race the outer ring and then cut into the inner circuit for the second lap. It's effectively a circuit around a hill with the peak in the middle that's always spiralling inwards. They have do do it that way as the soil is clay based and would get cut up too easily if horses were allowed to go over the same ground all the time. Interesting question and answer imo. |

This can only happen on a racecourse that is a figure of 8. There are two '8' courses in Britain, Windsor and Fontwell, so it must be one of them.
Towcester has a steep uphill finish, but as it's not a figure of 8 course, it can't be uphill all the way round. |
