ffs Steptoe :p
yep, my bad |
|
By:
i didnt go scunny no, fun times tho i'm guessing?
|
|
By:
totally, i think we had about 2,200+ there, so we were a third of the crowd, and sang throughout the game
as ive only being going over the recent years, ive only ever been to prem grounds for league games, so this was a new experience but a very enjoyable one have you got any plans for the games coming up ? |
|
By:
Don't you think that we will get more points away from home than at the Riverside. For years we have not the physical threat to overpower teams.
The 2 results this week have shown we will be better on the break in away games. |
|
By:
hello ayresome
i agree with that, when at home, teams come to defend, as most away teams do, and especially will now, and we are just terrible at breaking teams down hopefully we will be better at it this season, with poorer opposition, but away we should get alot of chances to break, although tuesday night was a bit like a home game, as scunny sat back alot |
|
By:
Agreed. Sounds like a good trip to Scunny.
You look at our side and we will do fine with quick midfielders, but it concerns me that we do not have 1 good header of a ball in midfield or attack. We will miss out so much by not having as many headed goals as others. Think back to Paul Wilkinson and the like, absloutely useless but could bag a dozen haeders from set plays guaranteed. We miss that type of player. |
|
By:
yeah, we have a few defenders who will score goals from corners and free kicks, but a big part of attacking, is crosses, and we just havent got anyone to put them into, and so putting them in is pointless, unless we can get a big stiker who can head, but i cant see one coming
|
|
By:
We should still do well, but you know us, never satisfied.
You look at the Barcodes goal last night. Route 1. Keeper kick out, flicked on, 1 touch then in. A fine finish but how many of them would see us getting? Less than any other team I'd say. |
|
By:
one big thing is our favour has been proved already this season....the difference in class between the two league, especially looking at how much crap newcastle are in and how crap their team looked, and most importantly how crap ameobi is
and yet they have 7 points from 3 games, and shola has 4 goals |
|
By:
Good point. Made me feel much happier.
|
|
By:
:) its a real good sign, watching us aginst scunny, ive never seen us so comortable against a team, and so dominant, without even going into second gear, when we get infront it will be hard for teams to get anything
it really could be the good season we've hoped for ayresome.....lets not speak to soo though |
|
By:
SSN report Southgate has offered 6m plus Johnson for Shola,.

Still a better deal than £12M for The Fonz

Evening. It will be my first visit to the Riverside on Saturday. My 98th ground to visit watching Donny. We've come a long way since Leek Town and Leigh RMI a few years ago.
There'll by thousands of us so should be a good atmosphere. Rovers wont come to defend that's for sure, so should be a good game. We absolulutely slaughtered Coventry the other night but as usaul couldn't score. We've got no decent strikers. Hoping for another 0-0. |
|
By:
evening mate
i have a mate, whos a donny fan, and lives in boro, so hes delighted about this game, shortest away trip ever :D i hope you do come out a bit and it will be a much better game, but i expecta alot of teams to sit back against us, so probably wont be a classic |
|
By:
Hoping to get 2.05 on you boys -1 on Saturday :)
Then I can load winnings on to West Brom -1.5 :( |
|
By:
hello J2, good to see your negativity hasnt gone whilst ive been away ;)
tbh i wish i could talk you out of it, but i dont really want to as west brom look good, and tbf ipswich dont, still you know better than me, why havent you started well, any ideas ? |
|
By:
I won't really back West Brom because i'll want my bet to lose and I can't be wanting to lose money, but they really should paste us.
Vs Cov we looked decent, a little unlucky perhaps. Then Norris gets injured and Keane plays his mate from Ireland in midfield who looks utter sh1te instead of Garvan who has twice come on as a sub and improved us ten fold. We have a lot of new players in the team so i'm hoping it's a case of gelling and then we'll start to compete. The Ipswich way is to lose to crap teams then beat someone like West Brom away...but I can't see it this time |
|
By:
its a tough ask i must admit, and im like that with regards to betting, i'd be lying if i said i didnt make a small fortune on our relegation, but this season, i will not be backing a penny against us, and i wont be backing a penny on us, that will be my system, as im thinking more with heart than head and that isnt good in betting
are you going to west brom ? |
|
By:
Nah will watch on sky. Don't really do away games as most of my mates are armchair big 4 fans and the rest don't like football.
|
|
By:
nightmare, thats something in my favour i guess, i went to scunthorpe with 3 other mates, so, that always gives me good odds of being able to go, lovely little ground scunthorpe, its an experience ive never had, watching a league game with an attendance of 9,000, but as we took 2,200+ i think this shows we do still have good support
still though, i wont be going to all, i may go to the odd london game but generally it will be all the northern games and midlands |
|
By:
Hi guys
I didn't go to Scunny, but wlil going to Bristol City. I expect us to sell out or alloacation when the tickets go on general sale Bristol is a local game for me. I was right that we were value at Scunny at 2.40. I would not touch us at 1.60 at home to Donny. This is not value against an unbeaten side. |
|
By:
Whatever happens on Sat, I think it'll be a good game.
Two passing sides and I think some fans will be surprised at how well Doncaster play. If they had a bit of £ behind them they could go far in the league I think. Sean O'Driscoll underated boss with a good football background. |
|
By:
Donny are a good footballing team, but without any end product, if they can stick in this league for a few years, it may eventualy come and they could be quite a strong team, but atm there still a decent shout for relegation
i hope its a good game though, cos the first home game wasnt |
|
By:
boro looking good gary
|
|
By:
you arent looking so bad yourself mate
the way boro and newcastle have started just shows the difference in class between the two leagues |
|
By:
toon still short of pace

Saturday 22nd August 2009 - Middlesbrough vs Doncaster Rovers 3.00pm
Im expecteing to see the same team as the one that beat scunthorpe midweek, i think our strikers need to up it, so far weve got by without them doing well, but we are going to need them |

Boro put Didier Digard on strict fitness regime
Aug 22 2009 by Eric Paylor, Evening Gazette Didier Digard BORO have placed Didier Digard under a strict training regime to finally solve his run of injuries. Gareth Southgate decided that enough was enough after Digard fell victim to yet another thigh problem in Boros opening game against Sheffield United. Southgate believes that the Frenchman can be a big player in the promotion push - and wants him available every week. The Boro boss told the Evening Gazette: |
|
By:
Looks like O'Neill is staying.
|
|
By:
I suspect not many will leave now.
For today I have taken the 1.83 for goals under - looks a value bet as both teams strength is stopping the opposition. |
|
By:
Only one player I can see sold before end of season - Tuncay.
Alves will probably be farmed out on loan if anything. |
|
By:
I would not disagree.
There will be plenty of takers for Alves on Loan, especially o/s EPL Tuncay has only 1 year on contract so club will look to get a decent fee now and buy a Marlon Harewood type striker for the Championship. |
|
By:
Come on then Boro fans!
What your bets for day? First one up for me is Heiki Kovalainen (ew) in the Qualifying @ 20s |
|
By:
Looking at the contact situation, Johnson is same too, he has one year left.
Wouldn't surprise me if a promotion push could tempt Johnson & Tuncay to stay should they still be here 2nd Sept onwards. |
|
By:
Adam Johnson to score anytime 7/2 with billy is a great price imo.
|
|
By:
Could well be, considering that GS likes to switch our wingers, and have Jinky come in from the right.
|
|
By:
Should David Wheater be 25/1 FGS market?
Looka value to me |
|
By:
Been looking at that, think Lita @ 11/2 is a price also.
2-0 @ 8.2 Any Unquoted @ 10.5 |
