Ring up Brass Castle Lane, they have a good pro there, better than the crew they have @ Municipal, and look at lessons.
Don't expect to be great overnight, space lessons 3 weeks, and goto the Municipal as often as you can just to practice chipping and putting on their practice green, and the range to work on drills. If you say look at getting a 6 lesson package between now and Feb next year, then look at joinin a club if funds allow. Play as often as you can, whether you're sh!t or not, every little helps. |
|
By:
thanks for that info, ill have a think about it, may not just yet, as i couldnt play alot at the moment anyway, but its certainly something i want to do in the near future
did you learn there ? and how do lessons work, what happens ? |
|
By:
Yeah used to go there when I was a good for group lessons.
Depends what there is on offer, whether its a group lesson or one on one, he'll just teach you the basics then go from there. I only had one lesson last winter, should have had more, need some this winter. |

Nice stuff Wev
i wish i had more experince with the game of golf, but i guess ive got plenty of years to get some good golf in yet :) have you got a season ticket this season wev ? |
|
By:
Yeah it's called Middlesbrough Golf Club.
I always bring my clubs back with me when home, playing Bedale on the 17th after being home at weekend. Cost is steep if not know a member, £35+. Better than Muni though, far better, and worth it if can get out once a month or so. |

Review from UK Golf Guide:
Middlesbrough Golf Club Player Reports Jason Hardy (England) 08/05/08 From entering the car park, it can be seen that this Golf Club has a touch of class with electric drop down gates allowing entrance/exit to the club car park. There is a large putting area, a separate chipping and bunker area with a warm up net. All within 40 yards of the Pro shop and a little further is a long practise area. The fairways are well manicured which allows you to be confident in the knowledge that when you strike the ball it will stop and spin on the greens. Everything is well presented. I played the course some 8-10 years ago and the course has been altered (the extra yards on the 4th is breath taking)and the trees have grown making it more challenging if wayward onto other fairways. It is a good test of golf with every hole being very different, with presentation a credit to the ground staff. Finally, after the last hole there are shoe cleaning, trolley and club cleaning facilities when you leave the 18th. The locker room and facilities are very good with subtle touches. The food is excellent as are the friendly staff and other memebers. I can see why this Club is considered to be the best in the area with subtle touches that make it classy and it is an excellent club and worth considering membership with quite reasonable fees. Nah I never know what im doing with regards to work so no point me getting a season ticket, will try to get to most games this year mind as obv aint gonna be much on tv either.
Ahh so thats where Middlesbrough golf club is! - lol I don't mind the muni, aslong as it's not been raining, that course does not like the rain! I've not played at all this year as I damaged my shoulder skiing back in Feb, think it's ok now so was gonna head down the range to hit a few and see how I go. I've missed it tbh! |
|
By:
Nice review that Ewok, definatly sounds worth checking out.
Whats the yearly green fees? |
|
By:
shame that wev, but i guess, just try and get too as amny as you like
im a 9-5 guys and my company are great, with things like Lieu time (flexi time) so i can leave early and things like that, so even the tuesday night away games should be possible :D |
|
By:
No idea on membership fees, nothing on website, maybe worth a call.
Based on undulating land, so should drain well in winter. Gary, warning re golf, when you start playing, you become addicted to the sport! |
|
By:
Aaah, see I work for me old man and if im not there pretty much everything else stops, just the nature of the game. So if there's work on I gotta be in. Should be able to get to a fair few tbh though :)
|
|
By:
i know that from just playing at Prissick, as i said its probably my favourite sport, even just playing the small pitch and putt, i still love it lol
i wont start playing yet, tbh, but maybe in the next year, i will look into it |
|
By:
thats what you've got to do mate, im looking forward to away games this season more, as i wont be going there thinking were defo gonna lose, then getting there.....watching us lose and coming back :)
|
|
By:
Well maybe an away day next season in the Premiership could have a gold day mixed in if you do pick it up Gary!

Bloody hell, Middlesbrough Muni is the most plyed course in the UK!
It's in bloody good nick then considering! I've not played there this year like. It's only £415 a year there aswell, which is bloody cheap :) I'd hazard a guess that Middlesbrough Golf Club would be about £700? I'd be tempeted to ring thornaby golf club aswell but when i last went there a few years they were a bunch of up there own arese dicks |
|
By:
have you had a look at the season match bets yet ?
i think City over Spurs is free money, not sure about the rest though, although i suppose there is an extra week, keep forgetting with us playing on Friday :D |
|
By:
i cant stand o,neil or villa thought they carried alot of luck last year, but 6 to 1 ew without the big 4 seems a bet to nothing for me
|
|
By:
Cheap if you can get out early on a weekend, but for the price, it's worth paying extra to go private and be able to get 18 in after work no worries.
I'm joining private one down road from me and in summer I expect to get 6 rounds in midweek, 3 on weekends. You can haggle or get freebies thrown in, ie bar credits etc atm as they need the subs, up their own arses 3 years ago, on their knees now for your cash no doubt. |
|
By:
I think Villa @ 11/8 to beat Everton is a bet.
|
|
By:
im not so sure, they struggled terribly towards the end of last season
ill have to have a think, i may just go with a Chelsea outright bet, with some others added in |
|
By:
They only suffered due to the Intertoto.
Sunderland 8/11 v Blackburn City 4/11 v Everton Blackburn 4/6 v Pompey Arsenal 7/4 v Liverpool Villa 11/8 v Everton Them prices interest me. |
