Can't blame the lad, he'll get games @ Chelsea and hopefully will fight for No 1 spot in a few years. |

Wheater is stil to come out of his shell, Hoyte & Taylow still young, and Huth is our only 23yo+ defender I think, and that's only just I think. |

my interest is because out of 92 clubs you can count the players who have scored 25 goals on one hand,yet you glibly say a bloke who hasnt lifted a leg in 18 mths to score 25 for a team who barely made 2 chances a game last year, and have sold the man who made 90% of them chances , tonites gazzete writes a more realistic outlook for the season money problems,player problems,coaching problems,facilties problems more or less saying its a small town club with attitude to mateh and this is from the likes of paylor,gill, vickers etc,

Im positive and confident for the new season and believe me im normally negative and certainly was this time last season. Not saying we have a world beating squad but it is certainly good enough to compete in top6 of this league |

Why the pessimism?
I could see last season what GS was wanting his to be like and play like, I know ppl will laugh with what I say, but our counter attacking football at times was up there with the best. We don't play it long and we don't shut up shop. Yes we got relegated, but I for one am glad GS is still there, he plays the game the right way, and I entrust SG to do the best for MFC. Downing's departure is a blessing in disguise. He became a big time charlie in my eyes, and I think he became too big for the club. The signs were there when he started berating Taylor after every loose ball was played, that's not a player I'd want in my team, and we'll be better off without him. It reminds me of the time when McLaren left, everyone but Boro fans thinking you'll miss him etc, when in fact only a small minority will. |

well as none of us no whats required in this league,and none of us no our starting squad,or coaching set up i,ll take that with a pinch of salt,maybe forrest,leeds,luton southampton.etc said the same, its possible btm 6 is as likely as top 6 at this stage

at the end of the day, you know if a team is more likely to end top 6, as we have better players than other teams, as we know the difference in class between prem and champ, and these players nearly survived in the prem last season
if you have come in this thread to rip fans saying were gonna win the league with ease, then sorry youve had a wasted time, were sensible people in here, and were not stupid, just positive....and rightly so |

In the case of lita,Arca and Oneil- Have all won the Championship Whilst Johnstone helped Watford to the top of Championship. Southgate got promoted with Palace in 93/94 from the championship too and Colin Cooper won the Championship as Forest Captain in 98 |

well the gazette is knownfor seeing the boro through rose coloured glasses but there is little positivity in there tonight, besides selling or hoping to sell there best players whats changed, alower league winger and abloke who,s done nowt for 18 mths, as for my digs at the management paying 6 mill and 50 000 a week to a bloke who give us 25 games and now out on loan no doubt still being payed by us, and 13 mill and 50 000 a week for a bloke now basicaly on garden leave till he goes for another huge loss, marlon king who made more court appearences than goals and you wonder why we have our doubts
