this thread is like ground hog day bob, ked is doing nothing special, he's already told you that, he's doing his research and looking at things he likes, he doesnt chase and doesnt use a system ie martingale.....how have you not worked any of this out after a year of questioning?

To be honest lads I'm not on here to make a million as some are and end up bankrupt. I use my method and go slow and steady and it's working for me quite well. If you want to extract the urine Rob then feel free but I'm happy with my approach and results

Bob is not interested in learning or working anything out. He is just desperate for any type of interaction.

I wasn't aware I'd done anything of the sort.  If I did, I didn't mean to.

I agree Cooee, I've even seen on here consistent winners who will deny the existence of value.  But they must have some systematic way of making their selections that inadvertently catches it.

Sorry if i misinterpreted Bob, just seemed like the quotation was a little poke. Just pointing out my approach mate, working well for me so far.

Btw Ked, I'm not undermining you here, I have much respect for anyone who can make money on here no matter how they do it.

Cat, very true. I guess some people are good at realising when something seems like a sound bet to them. If their instincts are good, they might well be right and might be able to make money from that. They're getting 'value' bets, even if they don't realise that's what they're doing.

In fairness to the 'value deniers', there are a lot of people on BF who flibble on about such and such a price being 'too high' and therefore being 'value'. Many of those people are actually quite poor at appreciating value when they see it, and go on to lose overall. I guess if you never thought about it in quite those precise terms, and then came on here and saw so many people wittering on about value, even when their idea of value was taking 3.0 on genuine 4.0/5.0 shots, then you could be forgiven for thinking the 'value' thing was overrated.

To many people, something is value simply because it's a high price. And, of course, that's not what it's about at all..

I just try and keep to my limits Bob and not over expose myself by bank jobbing things i don't know about. If i make a few quid on here I'm happy

Bob, it sounds like Ked has found himself a good way of picking bets without needing to rely on Martingales. And he seems to have done that by relying on his own instincts rather than badgering everybody else for help. To those ends, he's nothing like you at all.

cheers Cat, I know my limits on here and will never pretend to be capable of being a full time earner on betfair now. If I ever reach a zero balance on here  i will walk away but as long as i'm profiting i will carry on. Like I said, a holiday a year would be brilliant i don't want a house and car like some of the dreamers on here

Cooee, the reason I was fascinated by undern's thread was because I suspected he was intuitively getting value.  There was not enough evidence to tell thought
By:

When: 31 May 12 23:37
Undern certainly seemed to have a strong instinct for some events. There were plenty of events he bet on where he didn't seem to have the same instincts though. He spread himself too thinly for long-term success. I don't know how he's doing these days, but I hope he's pared it down and is no longer trying to play it for maximum excitement. If he just found a few bets a day and let his bot take care of the rest, I'm sure he would be (and quite probably is) highly successful.
By:
hejik
When: 31 May 12 23:40
you think martingale is a good system paul?
By:
Cooee
When: 31 May 12 23:40
Yeah, Undern did tend to chase too much. I think his instincts were good enough on some areas that he could have bet the same stakes every time and made a good living. Restricting yourself to those areas and resisting the temptation to chase are easier to talk about than they are to do, though.
By:
Cooee
When: 31 May 12 23:41
I'm not sure Undern martingaled precisely. But he did chase too much.
By:
catflappo
When: 31 May 12 23:41
Yes bob, undern's biggest flaw was thinking that a losing bet was a bad bet and vice versa.  The bot will help eliminate this.  I hope he's doing well with it.
By:
Cooee
When: 31 May 12 23:43
havn't seen you speak of a better one hejik?

Value is the better 'system' Bob. Whether you realise you're playing a value system or not.   If you can play 10 bets to the same stakes and be ahead at the end of those bets, even taking into account losses, then you don't need to resort to Martingaling it.
By:
catflappo
When: 31 May 12 23:46
Martingale is totally useless.  In fact it can make a winning strategy lose.

Forget about bots Bob. You don't have a chance...

yes catflaqpo, was just interested to hear pauls take on it as he appears to think it's the best "System" he's seen in 2 years (at least) of relentlessly trolling the betfair forum

paul do you even know what a bot is?
By:

When: 31 May 12 23:53
yes it does paul you are correct. no staking system will work if your fundamental selections are s*** selections.

do you even know what a bot is?
why did you back Jankovic today?
By:

When: 31 May 12 23:53
Bob, I was a programmer already and I had worked out a way of making money playing the f1 markets.  When the api came along I wrote a bot to simulate what I did manually.
By:
Cooee
When: 31 May 12 23:54
Bob, you have to have some idea of what it is you want the bot to do for you, before you can even think of putting one together.   Since you've been here for an absolute age and still think that a 'system' amounts to picking the favourite, you're a very very long way short.

Really, give up on the bots idea.
