If and when Beau becomes World Champion and continues to hit big averages, come Matchplay in Blackpool, will the comms/presenter's acknowledge her or simply ignore? Mardle's a big darts fan so I'd say he'd comment on her. If he doesn't he's a c@nt, owned by bigger corporate c@nts. Still to see him make an appearance at Lakeside.

Semi final
Lorraine v Beau Lorraine is in good form and has vast experience winning lots of events. Beau has quality, high winning averages and also experience. Lorraine comes into the semi final with the bookies giving her less chance of winning than Kirsty and we saw what happened there. The key was winning the bull. What makes Beau even more dangerous is her mind set. She is totally calm and says she doesn't care if she loses though obviously wants to win. Another player keeping the pressure off with herself. I didn't see how Kirsty could win 3 sets against a rampant Rhian. In the match there was nothing in it on the averages and Rhian clearly under perfumed. Chased the game throughout as Kirsty held her nerve to win. Could be the same outcome tonight if Lorraine throws first and takes the 1st set. Another belter on the cards which I expect Beau to win. 1/6 is skinny. Straight sets only evs. Beau to win 3-1 @ 11/5 |

Great set from red hand to lead 3-2.
Veenstra over the line on 180s. Wolfie always in and around this party environment. No charisma Taylor is no where to be seen other than craving glory on stage. And people ridiculed Wolfie as spineless etc. If you play darts you understand the difference. Players are back...more supping Modelo. Cheers! |

Coming up a tale of two, but first the Ladies Final:
WDF World Championship 2022 - The Lakeside Best of 7 Sets Beau n Arrow 1/7 v Thirsty Kirsty 5/1 Kirsty: I posed the thought in her semi final. How will she find a way to win 3 Sets against a red hot opponent in Rhian? Well she did it. Rhian clearly underperformed which is partly down to Kirsty scoring well and hitting doubles. 2-0 up in sets soon became 2-2 sets each and 2 legs each with Kirsty having the darts in the deciding leg. She scored lovely and missed D20'for the match. Rhian got close and with 96'for the match never had a shot at a double. Kirsty first dart D10 and into the final. Beau: Comms said she started the tournament as the fav but 8/1 was clearly available as I posted the outrights on here. How long 8/1 lasted or how much anyone got on I've no idea as I've looked for a timeline on the outrights moves on @ddschecker but can't find anything. Hindsight being a wonderful thing with Beau's recent form flashing up like a beacon and a big missed opportunity gone forever. That and being blinkered by the sensational Mikuru I completely swerved her, though I'd followed her career from her first bursting onto the scene as a teenage sensation. And did I pay the price. Beau is so at ease taking everything in her stride and what I like most is her totally laid back approach. She took care of Lorraine with little fuss in her semi final and she expects to win the final but doesn't care either way. She said "You know what, if I win I will buy a car." The Champion receives £ 25K!How many legs, let alone sets will Kirsty win? It's gonna big a big ask from Kirsty. Her stats are way below Beau and on paper as one sided a match as they come. However, this is a Ladies World Championship Final. Kirsty can score big and hit her doubles. She has to do that throughout the match. Who wins: Beau 4-0, 4-1 All the very best to the ladies. Hope it's a great match with a few added twists and turns. |

WDF World Championship Final 2022 - The Lakeside
Best of 11 Sets Thibault Tricole 1/1 v Neil Duff 10/11 (at time of writing) These are two players whom at the start of the week most wouldn't have heard of. Dare I take this all the way back to "The Heart of Midlands," (Wiki) the original venue for the very first World Darts Championship. I always thought it was Jollies? Only then I was too young to remember, let alone have any real interest. The BDO record books tell me it was Bristow beating Lowe in 1981 that started my love affair with darts aged 14. The following year is clear as day when Jocky Wilson beat Eric in the final. That's when I changed my Asda bought brass darts and ventured into town to Cartwright's sport shop for a set of Jocky Wilson tungsten darts. These were the best darts I ever owned. They sat up in the board as the barrel was slightly thicker and weighted on the end. I lost count of the amount of times the dart hit its target in off the barrel. Where are they now? That's another story for another time. What has this got to do with gambling you might ask? Well, Bristow, Wilson, and Lowe became the big house hold names back then. Along came Deller in 1983 to not only win the World Championship as a complete unknown to the majority of the darting world (even though he played for and represented England.) He beat all three of those afore mentioned top players, the biggest of them all in the final against Eric Bristow, checking out the now famous Deller "138.' From this he became an overnight sensation. In comms Sid said Eric played the percentage shot as he turned down the bull to make it 2 -2 in the deciding set, hitting big 18 to leave his fav D16. Deller stepped up - T20, T18, D12. 138 out and Game, Set, Match to the Milky bar kid. Deller has lived off that moment ever since. When asked in a tv interview Bristow simply said "I didn't think he'd hit it." Some 40 years on we have a Frenchman who could not only make history as their only dart player known to us but start a darting revolution with the Parisians, thus spearing a new country on the darting map. Tricole's relevance right now albeit WDF is huge! The other finalist is a c@ck sure red hand Irishman, but they've had their fair share of top darters over the years so it's nothing new. An Irish World Champion would add another notch. Onto the Final: The stats say Duff is getting down to doubles ahead of Tricole with bunches of 12,13,14 darts winning legs. Whereas "The French Fancy," that's what I call a nickname is getting pokes at 15,16,17. This could be the decisive factor when it comes to break of throw attempts. An intriguing match with both players having survived match darts against them. Non more so than Tricole, where he was dead and buried and on his way home until Burt somehow squandered six (6) match darts in the same leg! Duff was completely owned by McEwan (1.01 busted in running) but he too missed match doubles as 3-0 in sets quickly became a 4-3 loss as Duff steamrolled through the match gaining confidence set by set. A brilliant turnaround. Question: When is the last time a World Championship Final from either codes consisted of two players who both survived match darts against them, and who were they? Tricole: Being an modus online live league geek I saw plenty of Tricole. He started off patchy and grew into the experience, but one thing has remained constant, his lack of 180s in that and the world champs. I marked him down as Under/Over 4.5x180 for the final. Billies were Under 5.5 @ 8/13 and that is my main bet. At the time no others had 180 markets and I haven't checked since. Duff with his scoring and getting down to finishes first versus Tricole with his set decided winning legs? Tricole has played an extra 23 legs, the equivalent of 1 match more than Duff in the tournament. Duff played in the 1st semi final and Tricole in the 2nd. Do any of these have any baring or advantages? Who wins: Duff 6-3, 6-4. To take a quote or two from Beau - "You know what, I don't care." Here's to a great final full of anticipation, excitement and drama. May it be a Lakeside classic and go down to a sudden death leg decider where both have and miss match darts. Good luck everyone |
