I can honestly say I have no idea how this is going to pan out. I was on MVG last night, thinking he would click up another gear, and he didn't.
The concern for me with Anderson is that MVG had darts to go ahead and missed them. If he had just upped his standard a little at that point I think he'd have won. If Taylor gets those chances will he miss? As I've said, I've no idea who will win I just hope it's a classic and a match befitting the final.I also agree with Aluns comments earlier, this forum has been a pleasure to be part of and is by far the best on Betfair. Sadly I've missed a few nights but the ones I've been involved with have been a blast. ![]() Also agree with earlier comments about HH. This man is a star and deserves something from Betfair. Are you watching Betfair manager???Finally, I WILL be posting some more pictures tonight and I don't want any comments about wonky eyes DnB ![]() The girl is beautiful, just close yours and imagine![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good luck all ![]() |

This is make or break for subby. Don't get these chances often with the talent these days. Read on his fans page he now jumps to 3rd in the world after tonight over taking Lewis

he needs to make sure taylors pace doesnt feck him up , there will be no fist pumps from either player , so i expect BDO order in the crowd

Anyone on Anderson outright form earlier in tournie could do worse than stick a few quid on
Taylor 7-6 at 10.0 ,, its decent odds and if Andeo goes 6-5 up with will be less stressful ![]() |

Anderson should be made up with his draw in Q2, although as has been said Kist is a wildcard. Kist aside, most of the actual seeds in the quarter are in poor form so far this year. I can't see anyone but Anderson making a semi-final against MVG. Chizzy is a potential stubling block for MVG though, albeit one you'd expect him to come through. Lower half of draw is tougher. Taylor might worry about Huybrechts but out of King, Winstanley, Whitlock and Van Der Voort I couldn't pick the other quarter-finalist. I might have a few quid on a few quarter winners at big prices from that section. Huybrechts at 16/1 and Winstanley at 25/1 look decent chances. Quarter 4 is ugly. Horrendous. Whoever comes through that will be battle hardened if possibly a little fatigued. Arguments could be made for many including Wade, Lewis, Barney and Bunting. Taylor, Van Gerwen and Lewis are the three that have proved time and time again they have the game, mind and consistency to win the Worlds. All three have questions to answer. Taylor doesn't appear to be able to find his very top game as often now, Van Gerwen seems to sometimes seem like he is off the boil, like someone who doesn't practice enough or maybe too much. Lewis hits flat spots that can get him beaten. The other serious contender in my eyes is Gary Anderson, who has taken his game and his mental game to a new level. His win against Lewis in the WMP was superb. The really interesting thing for me was that he found his best darts when he was being asked questions, as he did all the way through that tournament. To me, he is the one I think is in the best place coming into the tournament. He's my main bet. Then we have a number of players who could threaten like Wade, RVB, Whitlock, Bunting and Wright. They have all shown in the past that they have the game to beat any of the top contenders on their day, they are all capable of averaging the 100+ you in several games to win this tournament. Most of them have not shown much this year, however, or can buckle under the pressure of the really high scorers and double-hitters. I would also add Dave Chisnall and Kim Huybrechts to this category, and I want to back both. Dave Chisnall is in MVG's quarter, and although he'd be an underdog he can beat him. Chizzy showed us in 2012 that he can compete with the best when he beat the Power in the second round 4-1, although he couldn't reproduce that effort in the next round getting beaten by The Hammer. Consistency has long been Chizzy's problem. He can beat Van Gerwen (2013 World Grand Prix QF) or lose to John Henderson (2014 Worlds R1). To me, this year's Grand Slam showed Chizzy's upped his game further. He topped his group and got to the final where he played The Power. He'd played the Power in the final of the World Grand Prix the year before and got beat 6-0 where he didn't win a leg in any of the first 5 sets. It must have seemed like history was repeating itself when Taylor went in 5-0 at the first break, but Chizzy showed he was now made of sterner stuff giving The Power a real scare before eventually going down 16-13. This was a real step forward for Chizzy and I think he now believes he has the game and the confidence to go toe-to-toe with the best in the World on the TV stage, and at 40/1 he rates a bet in my eyes. Kim Huybrechts has less form that Chisnall at the highest level, and the furthest he has gone in the Worlds is QF in 2012 but he seems to be developing both in terms of ability and temperament. His demolition of MVG in the Grand Slam QF was scary, going 12-3 up in the first to 16 match, and hitting a 9-darter in his eventual 16-10 win. No-one would live with him throwing like that, and looking at the draw he has a very winnable quarter IF he can overcome Taylor (due to meet in R3). He's probably just glad he's avoided his brother for once. Outright winner 3 pts Anderson 7/1 1pt Chisnall 40/1 1pt Huybrechts 66/1 3rd quarter winner 1pt Huybrechts 16/1 1pt Winstanley 25/1 This is what I wrote on the original tournament fred on 8th December. As you can tell, I was always a big fan of Anderson's chances in this tournament, and my only regret is not getting on earlier at a bigger price. However, now we are at the final hurdle, I'm having doubts. I'm not doubting Anderson, who has played exactly to the level I thought & found extra gears when needed. No, my doubts are about Phil the Power. To be honest, and this sounds a little stupid about a 16-time champion, he has surprised me with the level he has reached. The way he just played Barney out of contention worries me. I honestly thought Taylor would be out by now. I thought he would get beaten by Kim Huybrechts and I would rather Anderson faced anyone else. I've greened out of my original bet, but leaving 50% more on Anderson than Taylor. I plan to trade a little more if/when Anderson goes odds on, and whilst I hope Anderson wins, I'm hoping for a close game with plenty of flip flops, as I plan to trade my green a little. I've also had a few bob on a 170 checkout and a 9-darter for giggles. |

Thats good point, phil will be lodged up in the sky studio when he does pack in

Not sure I'd go that far, Howdi, but I'd definitely convinced myself Phil would be a few ticks shorter than he is. See SpoilSports got 3/4, which might be something to do with it. Most of the firms 4/6 or 8/13.

He does, but you could argue Phil does with these darts too. Not been put under any real pressure yet, whereas Subby has.

Howdi, I feel the same - this is a bit reminiscent of watching the early 90s England batsmen strolling to the crease to face Warne, McGrath et al at the MCG. You hope that Crawley, Hick, Stewart and Ramprakash will be good enough, and that their good form in the County Championship and against the poor warm up sides will lead to an England win, but deep down you know what is just about to happen.
I've greened out of my pre-tournament bet on Anderson. |
