Because we are near the sea we can play pretty much all year round.Ive played on New Years day before.

Class. My mate once came up from Manchester for new year and we went to the local municipal it was about minus 1 and shut. Anyway we climbed the fence and played the greens were just pure ice. Got to a dog leg par 5 and when we reached the green it was just an ice pond
also played in Rochdale once when 100 mph winds cause we'd pre paid. Ball was blowing down the fairways. Drives were going on forever by the time you got there.

Was unplayable in the end stood in the trees and drank carry oot. The guy that ran the course must have thought mad Scottish feckers. 5 folk died that day In the hurricane. Our Mrs gave us pelters when we got home Grin

There are 4 municipal courses in Aberdeen alone.  And every village and town in Aberdeenshire
has its own course.

Spoiled for choice.

Grew up in clydebank. There is a municipal there called Dalmuir that has two holes in a book called the hardest 18 holes in Britain. One is a par 3 the gulley and the other a very long up hill par 4 called the roadhouse. It is as good as any I have played including Ayrshire. Darney bell isle Girvan etc.

Used to walk round it as a kid find balls make money. If I'd been playing all the time I'd been doing that I'd prob be of nearly scratch. Was there a lot for the cash as wasn't from rich background

Snap. Never stole them but would never tell the guy when he came to look where it landed Grin.unless he bought a few we'd already found. Used to think the younger guys playing were mugs as I was earning cash on the course and they were paying to play

I still can't quite believe what my brain is telling me my eyes saw last night....

There was genuine Man Love in Barney's eyes when he finished his speech....

Truly surreal.

Sports news from Talksport..."and finally, Phil Taylor will take on Raymond Van Barneveld in tonight's PDC World Darts Championship Semi Final."

No mention whatsoever of MVG v Ando. Maybe they were running behind schedule? Plain

Bez and Shaun rumoured to be on the guest list tonight. 'Call the Cops' indeed.

Fingers crossed they will accompany the Great Man to the stage for a special baggy walk-on. Obviously will be more of a 'Step On' than a walk-on.

Can someone explain what "Eccies" are?  Assume it's some sort of rhyming slang for some sort of drug, but I'm a bit innocent in these matters Blush

On a serious point (for a moment), I think it's fair to say that Barney wasn't the full ticket last night.  All that grinning at the board, the glasses to keep his eyes in the right direction, the man love and the speech, and so on.  Wouldn't Bunting have the right to call for a stewards'?  I doubt he would, but I wouldn't put it past Taylor to get Barney expelled for nefarious activities.  The PDC couldn't possibly turn a blind eye to an accusation of PED's, could they?  Or indeed any drug taking.  Someone might have to take a big decision today - let it ride and be subsequently accused of knowingly covering up illegal activity, or take the moral high ground at the expense of the spectacle and the paying punter.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to be greeted with the news at 7pm that Barney has "taken ill" and sadly will not be able to fulfil tonight's fixture.

Better to smile and be relaxed on the oche, than be a Michael Smith type - all anxious and uptight.

Don't forget, Bunting is only 29 and 12 months ago was merely an amateur darts player*

ccmac- No but I have drove past it many a time thinking it would be a bigger challenge getting round in one piece than the actual Holes

Wouldn't have happened during barney's stint in the bdo - No breaks in 1/4's back then?
