I think there's something in the Newton theory v the top ranked players. But a large portion of those results were in the PL which he basically just didn't cope too well with in alien surroundings and atmosphere. Not saying you can stick a line through that but can make an argument that circumstances were a little different to normal. And he actually drew with Thornton in the PL in any case.

And the other defeats mainly over relatively long course games against players he's rated inferior to and was generally decent underdog in. His record wouldn't be too far away from what could reasonably be expected.

Thornton definitely favourite but it's a horrible price now.

sb, totally agree - i don't rate newton against the big players, but i don't actually consider thornton as being that big. he's done very little in the grand scheme, hardly a regular major finalist

can well see thornton winning, but the 4/6 doesn't appeal at all

you've probably done your dough if you backed this game to end 0-0, although i have heard seismologists think there could be a major earthquake in the uk somewhere in the next 80 years

could be tight

Got to go out to run some errands now. Should be out for about an hour or so. By the time I'm back I'm hoping Justin has wrapped up this first set.

My lighter darts sit exactly the same as Pipe's. Aim at bottom wire of the T20 for maximum effect. It's also a good way to focus. My heavier darts tend to sit up (depending where i hold the barrel) and aiming at the top wire of T20 can create lazy darts, ie big 20's, 1's & 5's. I'll get me anorak Blush

Devon playing his 'get out of jail free card' early - I've backed the 2.5+ set at what was a surprisingly generous 6/5 when it was odds-on with the rest so obviously I want at least another set...dodged a bullet there as I expect Pipey was very short I/R for the first set.

devon avg over 97 now, coping quite well with this match - very few bad visits, nearly always coming away with a treble

Made up with the 2.3 about Peterson +2.5. Thought Pipe might have won a couple of sets and then suffered from a mental meander. Happy to trade out now at 1.05.

I'm not so sure he looks at it here. Devon is growing in confidence and has nothing to lose really
By:

Would want better than evens for Pipe to win from here
By:
Eldrick
When: 27 Dec 13 13:23
pipe 2/9 doubles - very unlucky with his dart for tops to stay in set 2, could not have been closer

might have to ring newton and tell him to start driving down from fleetwood now the way this match has gone so far
By:

just got in to find both now evens!
By:
Navel-Gazer
When: 27 Dec 13 13:23
Some dodgy darts from Petersen in that last leg and he got away with it - starting to get hopeful about my 250/1 to win the quarter now and if he gets through this, Wade is nothing to fear tomorrow night given the awful form he's in, though that's when he usually produces something unexpected.

pipe 0-2 devon
