He must be knocking on a bit

Got in courtesy of winning a soft-tip darts championship. Will be interesting to see how he goes but it stinks of just being a marketing ploy.

Pushing 60 I guess.

Is he BDO then Alun? Expecting higher......

I first saw the great man play in early 80s. He looked about 12. I think he was a chef in those days.

Great to welcome in that time of year again. Darts and HH's tips as much part of the festive season as anything else.
I'm going on Wednesday evening, but hope it won't be spoilt by drunken idiots. Nothing to get too excited by tonight, but perhaps a few small bets on correct score for fun the way to go. Think Taylor will win this year and announce his retirement at the top of the game. |
By:
Going to take a chance on Vos @ 12 here with a view to trade in running, enough going on away from the oche for Lewis atm which could make a difference.

Nearly time.
1/10 that they use Eric's jungle predictions to ramp up Bristows bets. Sad thing is, i'll probably fall for it ![]() |

I forgot how annoyed i get when they show lengthy aerial footage of the big buildings in the centre of London. Its at Ally Pally FFS, supposedly an iconic venue.
By:
You reviewed all the matches then suggested no bets on all of them?!
I think the single bet tonight for sure is Lewis to win. The others are all a bit risky, so in theory I agree. |

In work my team were having an inane conversation about what makes you know Christmas is near, the lights in town, the coca cola advert and other rubbish- they looked at me like I was mental when I said when the happy hibbee posts his first forum post about the "worlds"!!! They have no idea what they are missing.
The darts forum is the only one worth looking at on Betfair nowadays, few haters and keyboard warriors - well done all, good luck with all your bets and keep up the good work hibbee! Merry Xmas all! |

By:
not sure why they are bothering with tonight, we all know the eventual champ starts out tomorrow night

Thornton's odds are very small. I know he should win, but its not a certainty by any means. Unseeded international players rarely get through the first round, but there have been years e.g. 2009 in which more of them won than lost in their first match here.

Also my favourite thread. I'm on Caris to average under 88.5 at 1.84 for starters
By:
Only just seen the comp :(
Meanwhile, Looking forward to seeing Lewis tonight. I think he wins this again but if he's crap tonight I'm happy to change my mind. |

Makes me laugh when the pundits bang on about always knowing MVG had this kind of form in him.
Sure, he was electric for a spell before he moved to the PDC but did Mardle and Harrington not have any doubts during the five years in which he, i think, only ever once won more than a single match in any given TV tournament. |
By:
Slightly incorrect stats if you take into account the round robin in GSOd and last 1289456 in the UK Open.

Rod - "Magnus Caris has got the experience to beat anyone....."
i.e. he's quite old. |

Cheers HH i always enjoy your daily write ups.
Looking forward to reading a few more and some tips as the Championship goes on ![]() |

Not convinced about this new scoreboard
By:
Silverback - can I do a U-turn and have some evens for 3-0 Thornton?
![]() Caris is appalling here ![]() |
By:
Me neither. I actually find it jarring the way it counts down. Remember a few years back when sky changed the football display and fans were up in arms. They changed it back. They should do the same here.

Is Nicholson going to be the first beaten favourite in the tournament?
By:
horrendous from caris
By:
Surely there's scope for some gloomy Swedish/Danish cutting edge TV series to be made about The Less Than Pulsating Existence of Magnus ?
By:
disgusting caris..he never used to be this bad
By:
Another break.

Am I correct in thinking that there is a fifth match after these, with the winner of the preliminary playing someone?
By:
Yes, the winner plays Kevin Painter.
By:
i see the harsh Dutch justice system has seen Klassen sentenced to 16 hours community service and 400 euros.
By:
Caris looks like he's just sloped off the set of Wallander and into the Palace. Cheery sod.
By:
Painter should win that, whoever its against.
By:
Impressive display.
By:
I could see my bet on Caris to win even just a set was in big trouble before Thornton was 2-0 up...IN LEGS!
That was a truly shambolic performance from the Swede which Anthony Fleet would have been embarrassed by! W/D Silverback...was it you who stole my dosh? ![]() |

i see the harsh Dutch justice system has seen Klassen sentenced to 16 hours community service and 400 euros. yes, but he's also not allowed to stoned out of his mind for 2 weeks |

Didn't do anything on betfair Navel.

Quick question....why are there prelim matches at the World Champs? - ok more matches but seems a bit wierd at the Major event of the year, especially after a 1st round match?
By:
I think it's so we "know" the player when they play the big name.
By:
They also like to comment on how many nations play in the world championship

I expect the Wests will 'up' the sentence a little bit for Jelle.
