my Top 10 prediction for the Vuelta
Froome Quintana Kruijswijk Chavez Fernandez Contador Konig Hermans Sanchez Valverde |
By:
not sure about Krujswik over Chavez, and would go Quintana over Froome based on the Movistar team but yeah ya never know
By:
why is froome so short
He couldnt follow, He only came back because moviestar and chavez looked at each other instand of cycling 100 % |

I'm back on the Latour bus today. This climb suits Froome a lot more than yesterday.
Not sure one of the big GC guys are going to be competing for the win today. |

Stage 5
Kwiatkowski good odds here at 30's. Very enigmatic recently but did finish 4th on stage 2 on a flatter finish. |
By:
Also think Goncalves could be there or thereabouts
By:
Etixx bossing this field of sprinters

Stage 6
Breakaway |

By:

OBE have a good chance here with Chavez and S.Yates. Yates should be less marked than Chavez but he is well found in the market. any old price today of course ![]() I see CJ70 had Yates the other day. Hopefully some one had him today. OBE having a good year and building a decent squad. |

Arndt very popular today
By:
Contador would be winning if he didn't crash. Nobody bounces back from a crash in Spain quicker or better than Alberto.

Stage 10
Looks like one for Cristobal Froome |
By:
will we see a real showdown today? Somehow doubting it
![]() ![]() |

By:
The 2012 and 2014 Vueltas had a stage finish on this climb and Valverde was the first of the gc riders to finish on both occasions.
By:
why did Froome give everyone a head start?
By:
Quitana well placed but Froome has edge in tt,not sure about Contador he's 33 but an old 33
By:
Quintana will win by minutes
By:
Froome not in good shape having to rely on computer aided pacing, but still with a chance of winning, don't like this style of riding though.

I have to agree, Froome at the Vuelta is a different rider.
In 2014 he lost the Vuelta to Contador by 1min and 10seconds. He lost 53 of those seconds to Contador in the time trial. |

By:
Cristobal Froome!

Was there a Sprint for the stage Win.
Would be froomes First Sprint win;-) probably would have been quintanas First too;-) |

Could this be a grand tour where Froome actually looks to get better into the the third week instead of his usual TdF tactics of start fast, build a lead and control the race? Froome could be learning from his 2014 Vuelta where he probably would have won if he rode a smarter race.
All the long climbing tests are yet to come including 4-5 stages which could influence the standings. Quintana looks to be in the best climbing form out of anyone at this point. Can he keep it up for the whole race? Can Froome save some freshness for the 3rd week and minimize his losses to Quintana or even take some time back? My guess is Froome will beat Quintana by 1 minute in the TT. He currently trails the Colombian by 54 seconds. |

So the queen stage arrives. I'm hoping to be able to watch the whole stage but unable to trade it as I'm not in the office.
I think the break is more than likely to take it here and I've backed accordingly. I really liked Gesink for this stage and then I saw his price(13), no thanks! I'll take his team mate the impressive and underrated George Bennett(41). Omar Fraille and DD will be all over the break but again the price is prohibitive and a good day for him will be a good haul of mountain points, if I was in a position to trade in-play I'd be all over Fraille this morning at his current price. Caja Rural missed the break yesterday and will be eager not to do so again. Carthy(84) has probably been targeting this stage in a less than stellar Vuelta so far and Arroyo(200) has probably the best palmares on that squad even if he is past his best. I've gone for.. Frank(34) Bennett(41) Carthy(84) Arroyo(200) Zubeldia(200) Good luck if your playing. |

By:
what an awesome stage today
gonna be some tired legs atop the Aubisque |
By:
big day for mountain classifaction
expect to see Fraile, De Gendt, Geniez, Mate among others in the break. Like De Gendt and Geniez out of those. Definitly a stage for the pure climbers Carthy Elissonde Mamykin so far for me although with all the +100/1 shots we've had so far, it wouldn't surprise me if we had a favourite win this stage. |
By:
I think Quintana would see this as a stage where he needs to put more time into Froome.
By:
Is Van Garderen here just to look at the scenery?? If not then surely this is the one stage he would fancy having a crack at??

The north of Spain really is a beautiful part of the world.
I had to laugh the other day when the commentator (Kirby) said "here we go, we're now entering hobbit country." I wonder if he was talking about the people or the landscape. |
By:
yep favourites day.
Gesink 3rd fav |
By:
Super effort by Simon Yates , the twin brothers are going to be some force.
As for Quintana's unwillingness to go from a long way out , it is getting very dull and predictable. He must know he will get thrashed in the time-trial ,but yet he sits alongside Froome until nearly at the top of the last climb. ....yawn |
By:
yeah, I dunno about movistar's tactics. It's like they're on a bonus if they make sure the gc riders don't contest for the stage win.
Surely that was a stage Quintana should of been targeting and they send their two strongest domestiques into the break. |
By:
Also the gc riders finished 33 minutes behind the winner of yesterdays stage. They should of been well up for the stage win I would of thought.
By:
Good for Gesink though. He's had to persevere through a few injuries.
By:
I swear I saw Froome fake an attack then turn and smile at Quintana with about 3-4km to go.
