Laid draw @ 2.66 when it collapsed from ~2.9 inside three minutes, figuring it had gone far enough for the time being...
Free lay and bail if no wickets fall whilst it stabilises. Got impatient/bored, dripped it back for three ticks at 2.72... Wicket falls two balls after it all greens ![]() Fool. |

Agree about Creepy , i'm sure he enjoyed being on every highlight reel by hitting the first ball of the ashes series for 4 but watching him now you kind of expect him out practically every delivery , technique looks suspect for sure by comparison to others.
You'd have to consider Pope in the same category , these guys may well get 100 occasionally but almost certain to need 3 or 4 lives to do so. Time for a tweak i think. |

Bethell for me at 3 or Stokes! Great technique and takes his time which is important to see off a new ball!
Openers is not my call they say Sibley and Jennings have runs and deserve their chance but my blind call would be Haseem Hameed who has also got runs looked good as a youngster. |

You just know after this test the suggestion that Root is forced out of his comfort zone to bat at 3 is going to resurface from some quarters.

By:
Crawley once again justifying the unyielding faith held in him by the Kiwi twin divvies
Absolutely nailed on for the ashes gig Be rude not to take him |

Front foot moves 6 inches forward and not even a hint at across.
Even a schoolboy would not play like that The trouble is the mentality within the camp starts with the Skipper, I would do anything different. What is the point of hindsight! |
|
By:
The like Crawley for Aus though
|

Don’t think Root will be forced to 3

Bugger me if Jaiswal didn’t hold a catch

More weakness from Gill I ho
I would not have Jaiswal anywhere near the cordon right now. That is the value of hindsight but good catch! |

40 mins till lunch might decide the test.

Harry awful swipe. Must be nerves.

Hands up Gill
I would not have called on Reddy either ![]() |

crawley not good enough at this level

I don't and wouldn't either WD but feel it's sure to crop up.

Go for runs or play for time? Tricky one for England.
|
|
By:
Get yourself in first!
Then hit the ball if it is there to be hit. Do not manufacture shots |
|
By:
Eng will not play for time

Unfortunately England have a team full of one day batsmen with one or two notable exceptions. Proper Test batsmen know instinctively how to leave a delivery, it is completely alien to this lot, it was always going to end in tears.

I think players like Brook and Bethell can learn from Root
|

By:

|
By:
They are going to have to get 300 somehow or other, could be a fantastic last day.
|
|
By:
That's not the point, it is the batsmen's job to ensure a Test match isn't lost, it's the bowlers who need to make sure the team win.

By:
Come on Unc’s this is kwality from Brook and has changed the momentum of the game.

Root is the surgeon, Brook is the butcher

That was poor

Is there a SINGLE brain cell amongst this lot?

Uncle is vindicated!
Brook has exposed his leg stump regularly. Why sleep a quicker bowler? Dumb |

By:
Bowled behind his legs!

Right Jerry
But still a young man. I forgive him his rashness but he must learn |

I think by memory England were pretty much in the doldrums and couldn't buy a win before the introduction of bazball so let's not be over critical of getting out in limited over fashion , sympathize somewhat when considering the balance they're asked to undertake between the short and long game.
