India run rates of 2.88 and 2.72, England scored at 3.05, now need to score at 4.53 Grin

I can't see England being too interested in this although if they bat until tea without too much mishap but then all India need to do is bowl off side half volleys to Sibley to keep the scoring down!

Draw sitting at 1.23/1.24, could see that trading much higher when the dominoes begin to tumble Surprised

A quick 60 from Butler is the job opening, no chance tho

I think Kohli has got this right. It is mightily overcast right now. Make the game safe. England should be able to hold out but the psychology will be with England for the next test. If England succumb then they will be in tatters for the rest of the series.

Both openers looking over their shoulders, Hameed on a King, Butler not looking like a test player, Root has to miss sooner or later!

All exciting stuff and I guess why we all love test Cricket. So happy England have been batted out of this. Steak is on its way!

Root might as well bat at 2 or 3 as he is usually in by the 10th over anyway.

@WD - "Are you feeling like sex with a 20 year old now too?"

Do you mean the feeling of relief is as good as that felt after sex with a 20-year old, or do you mean "now that you have saved a fortune you can afford to spunk some of it by splashing out on a 20-year old"?

Will be tragic if he ends up on the losing side after scoring 180 not out, but a distinct possibility Sad

That is the first time ever in a home Test match that both England openers have been out for a duck.

Even if he gets out next ball (which my post will inevitably bring...) its clear to my eye after just a few deliveries that Hameed should be one of England's openers. The technique is far better than either of the current pair.

No vardon!

I feel like I want to have sex with a 20yo!

One minute I am feeling my age, every creaking bone and aching muscle is talking to me. I am losing a lot of money. I have been stressed and irritable since Friday afternoon. I took Mrs 'Death to see Les Mis. Central was crowded with idiots. I wanted to punch somebody. I needed a beer and I found one at The Duke of Wellington in Brewer StreetShocked. I am not prejudiced!

One beer was not enough but we had to go and see the show, which, I have to say again was excellent. Going home they were no shortage of ****es who needed a slap and I was till stressed. Needless to say now I feel like peace and lurve!

I don't think Burns is really under place pressure...Sibley must be...If Hameed makes a score here he could move up to open...

Malan would be my answer Angoose and I'd slot him in at three if Root insists on four.

I can't understand how he isn't there.

Is he going to average 40? Probably not. But I think the technique / mind is sound enough to give you way more than we are currently getting. Plus he's perfect with Australia in Australia coming up. His problem will always be on low, slow spinning pitches.

One hundred percent!

Been saying this for 5 years! He has it. Just needs to go down the gym! Doesn't need to but it might help his white ball career. The only problem I have with him is the chest protector.....NO.NON.NIET!
